The view from the top is the payoff for taking this trail!

Not for those with a fear of heights. Awesome views of the valley but I couldn’t bring myself to get close enough to the edges to really get a good view. There is one railing and the point is very large. Trail is pretty easy up until the very end where the elevation change is a little rough going back once you’re finished. Will definitely do again, I’m thinking for sunrise!

Not really a hike, just a short walk to the AMAZING viewpoint. Really pretty!

Super hot and much further than you think it is. Deceiving, but so worth it!

Just amazing one thing to note this trail on AllTrails app brings you to the backside of clouds rest you won’t be going up the side they show on you tube also don’t take the same trail down take the John Muir down avoid the crowd crawling up

If you want one of the best views of the park and to hike one of the most accessible trails, take this hike. The view is absolutely amazing. If you want/can handle a bit more of a challenge, Sentinel Dome is my recommendation, but standing at the edge of a cliff and beholding the fissures of the valley is simply breathtaking. Both Sentinel and Taft make for excellent sunset destinations, the former of which I can personally attest to. If you do one hike on a day trip, this should be it. There's no reason not to. Make it your last activity of the day and the sunset will be the perfect bookend to your visit.

Oh my gosh. This hike was amazing. Went there to see the sunset with my girlfriend and it was so worth the challenge it took to get there. It's quick but if you're more sedentary, the last half mile will kick your butt a bit on the way up. That being said, we aren't super hikers but we only took about two 1-minute breaks and were able to make the climb. Just take your time and you'll make it. It's not terrifyingly difficult, just a good workout for the middle quarter of the whole trip. At just a few hundred feet shorter than Half Dome's elevation, it's literally a much better all-around view than Glacier Point, in my opinion, and only 10% as much people because of the climb. I've also done Taft Point, and while I think the view from Sentinel is more grand and awe inspiring, Taft Point will give you a similarly beautiful scene for much less effort. You won't get to see Half Dome though, so choose wisely.

Stupid hot, but insanely awesome!

Great view!! I think this trail and at the top of Sentinel Dome has a better view than Glacier Point. It was so cool being up in the cloud. This hike is very short and easy. I would definitely recommend this to people who like views.

Really great view of El Capitan's dawn wall as well as the fissures. A very nice easy 2 mile hike. Easy to do this one with children or people who can hike very easily.

Nice trail about 1 mile one way, lots of rocks to walk around at some parts and the last .2 miles is a steep hike up the side of the dome. Definitely worth it, the view from the top is incredible.

Nice short in and out hike up a red sandstone slot canyon to a natural bridge and dry waterfall. Easy hike to the end.

This is a fairly easy hike with 360 views at the top. Great view of the valley and falls. I know there are many quality hikes at Yosemite, but the payback for reasonable effort is outstanding.

It's super hot during the day but n awesome feeling. Make sure you carry water and wear full sleeves.

It's not much of a hike, but the view was amazing, couldn't believe it was true. Will cherish the moment for a lifetime... Its awesome awesome awesome and its a MUST!!

Its a nice place was there during sunset and had a great time.

This is actually my favorite hike in Yosemite. Most of the trail has a decent incline, but there is one section right before you reach the dome that is pretty steep. Once you are at the dome, climb the rocks to the top and you are rewarded with an outstanding view of Yosemite Valley, half dome and the Sierra Mountain range. It is beautiful. I prefer to do this one in the fall since the tourists are mostly gone, but even with the tourists in the summer, it is worth the hike. Make sure to bring enough water as Yosemite is very hot in the summer months. Also, I wore hiking boots and was glad when I was coming down. There are lots of loose gravel and slick granite to lose your balance on. If you are visiting, I would make this a must!

We arrived just in time to catch the sunset with a storm looming behind us. So glad we stopped, it’s definitely worth the walk,

Outstanding hike with amazing views and bit of a different perspective of the Valley. Do not expect an easy hike, the climb up for the first 3.8 miles on the “micro switch-backs” is a grind. We went 2 days ago so it was cool/cold. I took a recommended 5 liters of h2o, should have been 4 and dropped the weight. This hike is major “up” so watch your pack weight.

Once you get to Eagle Peak the 360 degree outlook is breathtaking, kickback, chill and enjoy the accomplishment. We left the Valley at 5:15 AM and made it up in 4 hours, having stopped at Upper Yosemite Falls.

On the way down 35% you can bomb down through the forest. Then you hit the granite staircase and the pace slows simply because of footing.

Great time. Three of us ranked this hike in term of difficulty as 1.) Half Dome 2.) Eagle Peak 3.) CR. Hope this helps - enjoy this must do hike.

This is a super easy to follow trail, leads you directly to Taft Point and is clearly marked the entire way. Be prepared to be winded if you’re not used to the elevation.

If there’s one place to go in Yosemite this is it!! Not for the ones afraid of heights as there are no railings and the edge is 4000’ straight down! Most breathtaking place in my opinion!!

One of the most incredible views I’ve ever seen, probably the best from anywhere in the park. Easy 45min walk from the carpark.

Great to do after sunrise at Glacier point - great view of rl capitan! Then took loop around to Taft point and fissures- did not run into any hikers until Taft point!

Easily accessed from the trailhead, takes about half an hour to walk to the top of the dome, the last bit being a little steeper. The view from the top, absolutely incredible. Likely the best view of anywhere in the park and 360 as far as the eye can see. Something everyone should see in-person at some point in their life!

Easy little walk from the parking lot with extraordinary views. You can walk into the canyons and explore as well! There’s no set path once into the canyon from the view point.

Completely flat and amazing. Had an otherworldly vibe to it! When we went it was exceptionally windy according to the locals and it was so fun walking on the flats and having the wind whip us around!

Good trail, flat in some spots, saw a lot of animals, bear, foxes and coyote.

Easy trail, moderate elevation gain, amazing views. Our kids (9/6/3) hiked this trail with very little whining. The wind can pick up pretty quickly so take a jacket. Do yourself a favor and pack a meal/snacks, grab your pencils and paper, and enjoy your time on top of the world!

Great hike! Sitting atop the dome offered great views for a much deserved lunch! I feel like the moderate eating cake from getting up the dome itself
