Amazing hike into the Pfeifforhorn Cirque area!

Got the opportunity to bust out the snowshoes!

Was very tempted to try for Pfeiff, but another day perhaps ...

:-) _/|\_

Skinned up to desolations and skied Powder Park. Snow was phenomenal up top. The further down you went the crustier it was. Beautiful trail, quite a bit of snow up there.

hiked on 11-25. strapped on snow shoes about the dog lake turn off... beautiful this time of year!

Wow. Wow. Wow. We hiked on 12/1 and there was 2-3' of snow the entire length of the trail. There was a small 2' wide compacted path the entire route so it was nice and easy to follow the path in regular waterproof hiking boots. Saw plenty of hikers with snow shoes and plenty without. It was fine without. The views on this hike are absolutely insane. Honestly the waterfall was great, but frozen over, but the valley and mountain views are top notch. We are here on vacation from Florida and have so far done 3 hikes (Adam's Canyon and Waterfall Canyon near Ogden) and this was our favorite of the three. Unbelievable.

Great hike! We went on 9/18 and the trail was still perfectly fine to hike. Some points had snow and were a little slick, especially right in the beginning, but we were just fine in regular hiking shoes. The falls are partially frozen and gorgeous! The trail was not very busy either. We brought our dog, and she had a blast. This trail is rated moderate with some up and down hill, but probably pretty easy for more experienced hikers.

I have probably done this trail 10 times. It is so easy for me to get to from my house and is the perfect distance if you only want to go out for 4 hours.

I used this trail as a training hike for a high-altitude hike in California, and it worked beautifully. I have done it in the warmth of summer and the light snow of late autumn to test my winter hiking gear.

This is a great into hike to the fabulous hikes of Little Cottonwood Canyon with amazing views and an awesome lake to have lunch at before heading back down.

I hiked this on Tuesday. The trail was quite muddy and slick. The lake is frozen and covered in snow. Beautiful little rainbows reflecting in the snowflakes. I passed 5 people on the trail. It took me 3.25 hours.

Loved this hike!

Beautiful views almost the entire time! It was a gradual incline until the last mile before the lake, but still
totally doable. Sadly .5 miles to the lake the snow pack dies out and you would need snow shoes to get through the final section so we had to turn around. Bummer, but the views up to that point were awesome.

I brought two 11 year olds and an 8 year old. The trail got a little bit muddy as it got warmer. Overall, it was really fun and beautiful.

Good casual hike. Negligible snow. Minimal ice and mud. Lake was frozen over but not enough to walk on.

Just the right amount of everything!

This trail was amazing!
made my legs burn but so worth it!

Did the hike just after sunrise on 11/3. We were the first ones out and back after a snowfall from the previous night, so we ended up losing track of the trail a lot. (Easy hike in the fresh snow powder, just hard to follow the true trail with so many side trails) The lake was completely frozen over but not yet completely snow covered. Looking forward to coming back in the summer.

I love this trail, I’ve been here several times and great incline not too steep but long. When you bet to “top” of that branches into couple trails. On the right. Ore covered and foresty and left more views and more of the similar incline as the beginning.

****ATTENTION****

As of October 30 Cecret Lake Trail is closed. In fact, the only road to the trail is closed for construction.

Fun hike, beautiful sights and great falls.

Loved this hike! Not as steep as Red Pine but longer. I’d agree with others who’ve characterized this as moderate rather than difficult. The lake at the top is a gem. Still doable without poles or traction but It is a bit slippery in spots though, especially once it starts warming up. The snow is packed now so you don’t really need gaiters.

Beautiful trail. Definitely would recommend poles, snow and ice for a solid mile. Would rate this overall as moderate if not for the snow. Only a steep incline for about a mile. Almost made it to upper lake, but snow got a bit too deep without poles. Will be heading back to do again - awesome trail!

A great trail with beautiful views and a waterfall at the end. To avoid the crowds, go early.

Nice length (not too short or too long) and varied steepness. We spent time at the falls and hiked with a baby and it took us 2.5 hours

Great trial, especially in the winter. I'm 50+ and it is hard though.

This is a great hike for beginners or those looking for a short but scenic hike. The majority of the trail is through beautiful aspens and there are great views of the mountains on the opposite side of the canyon. Parking is easy and safe due to the long, wide shoulder. As of 10/27/18 all of the leaves have fallen, there are patches of snow, and the lake is low.

Great hike. This trail has a bit of everything. Snow, mud, rocks, wildlife...and other hikers.

Sometimes the beaten path is slightly different than the actual red-marked trail in this app. I veered off slightly and wound up backtracking twice. Pay attention to the app so you don’t veer too far.

I added the Silver Lake trail to my hike and finished at 5 miles flat. Had I not veered off I think I would have finished this hike at 4 miles.

Great day hike! Trail was snow covered from 9000 feet to the top. This was the most difficult part for me as I’m not accustomed to altitude ( from PA). Below that it is very rocky, so be prepared for both. The lake was beautiful, though there are other small lakes on the way up. Very few others on the trail, which was well marked even in the snowy areas, thanks to those who went before us. Views were absolutely spectacular. Despite the cool temps, the sun was very warm. Bring sunscreen, especially now that there is snow.

Beautiful hike! Quite snowy, but worth it! Hiked in the snow around the lake and then back down. definitely will go again!

My husband and I completed this hike on October 21. We started around 10:30 and were surprised to find there were only a couple people we encountered on the way their, and a few on the way back (maybe everyone gone for fall break?).

The trail is lovely and not too steep. We were a couple weeks late on peak fall foiliage, but everything was beautiful just the same.

Our only regret is that when we got to the waterfall, we scrambled down to the river. Instead of scrambling back up, however, we took a long, meandering way down that added a significant chunk of time to our hike. Next time, we'll have to figure out a better way to get back up to the main trail.

The quiet, beautiful morning was well worth the 90-minute drive for us. A must-do hike for northern Utah!

Well established trail, fantastic views of Little Cottonwood, the trail gets pretty steep on the approach to Red Pine. If your feeling adventurous continue past the lake up to a few lakes higher in the valley and get an amazing view of Pfiefferhorn. Went in late September, it got pretty cold and windy higher up. If you do go to the upper lakes, some of them might be dry, but Upper Pine is a worthy sight, one of the most beautiful Wasatch Lakes in my opinion.

Great hike! Save time to explore once you get to the falls; there is a nice trail that leads up towards the top of you don’t mind being adventurous and climbing a little.
