Some exposure areas , not for beginners.

beautiful hike! we made it to the top, past the helipad. Conditions were good but just a bit slippery on the way down through the trees, but I did it without spikes and was fine. the views are amazing from the top, would definitely recommend

Easy to get to and very well maintained trail. First half is a wide, uphill path with the second half being a stepper trail up stones. There is a long line to take a photo at the top though. Got up in about an hour really pushing the pace.

It's not very shady and a pretty difficult hike when it's hot but of course worth it for the photo op! It gets very very busy so earlier better than later!

Did this hike today and it was super snowy, at least 2 feet deep. DO NOT ATTEMPT WITHOUT SNOWSHOES AND POLES (at this time of year). easy to navigate as there were many signs pointing us in the right direction. Pretty easy for the first while with a steeper ascent about 3/4 up. Took us 4 hours round trip with a slow and steady pace, would’ve been faster if it weren’t for the deep snow. We were not worried at all about our safety, but definitely could not have done it without snowshoes. I would recommend skipping the suggested shortcut (signage) on the way up but no problem on the way down.

Amazing hike to Potato Chip Rock, the wait wasn’t bad. People were very good about trading phones for pictures , if you took their picture , they would wait for your group to go out to the rock and take your picture. Some people complain about the wait, it’s not bad especially if you work as a team.

January 19, 2019: beautiful conditions, snow packed and a hard assent but well worth it. Trail was worn so it still sees occasional adventure seekers that don't let the closure warning deture them. You will be the only ones on the hill, we were, but when else will you ever get a chance to experience this mountain all to yourself?
The summit was very windy, felt exillerating pushing through the big temperature change from 2 or 3 on the ground to quite fridge at the peak, dress accordingly.... Some deep snow sections ☺️

Absolutely unreal!!! crampons are a must; the trail wasn’t terrible until you’re out of the tree line. Little bit of exposure in some spots but not a problem at all if you take your time and don’t push your limits... pretty easy to lose the trail after the ridge but just stick with it and as long as you’re headed in the general direction of the true summit you’ll be back on track in no time

Trail is good. It gets handsy when you start climbing around the mountain. Lots of opportunity to go to sub peaks without wasting much time. There was a little bit of snow but not much. Views are awesome! Great weather!

Beautiful hike, gave it only 4 stars because there was a ~45 min wait to climb potato chip rock for a picture.

Nice day out there! Made it to the ridge, super windy. The trail is manly dry but some snow/ice patches, i recommend spike & pole!

Unreal trail, short and sweet!

Would do it again repeatedly.

Did it clockwise today. Very windy once on the ridge. Good views.

We hiked Tamnuska loop today (January 13, 2019). Most sections were dry. However, spikes are needed to reach its summit.

Beautiful Views and easy to follow trail. Download the .gpx files below to help navigation.

Top summit is not safe to pass over in winter, we tried last week and due to snowfall and avalanche's we did not attempt after seeing a small sized avi. We did hike this in 5 foot deep snow in some parts so trail blazing was tough but worth it. Great workout, and we stopped many times to take photos from the fresh snowfall the night before. Highly recommend this one year round but be aware that you cannot fully summit. The false summit is most likely where you should stop for safety reasons.

Bizarre is the only word for this place...not like the rest of Yellowstone at all. Definitely recommend.

Classic...not a necessarily a hike but it’s super amazing still.

The lake behind the geysers made it that much more interesting...one of my favorite geyser basins.

I want to hike Ha Ling this weekend with the nice weather. is it actually closed or can it stil be done?

Date: Jan 3, 2019
Cost: $ subject to NPS Parks Pass
Conditions: Partly cloudy, calm, Mid 30s

Pros: Gorgeous in winter. The ladder in the middle is neat and adds a fun element to this hike. Great expansive view at end of the park, nice spot to watch sunset.

My experience: 1.7 miles round trip. Briefly lost trail at one point. Ladder slippery in winter. I had more trouble going down than up. No problem entering park during Government Shut Down - roads were clear and gates were open. Leave no trace!!!

Cons: Sturdy footwear recommended. Use duck-type boots if wet/winter/muddy. Ladder is quite steep at the top and can be unnerving for some. I imagine the ladder could be congested at busy times. I briefly got off course and only knew it due to my AllTrails app.

Amazing views atop little devils tower

We hiked this trail in September w another couple and we thought it was great! Not as much water as we were expecting once we got to the actual "bathtub," but we plan on going back in the spring/summertime.

This hike is insane. Quite scrambly at the top, so careful on a super windy day! Very difficult, had to stop many times, but great work out and beautiful hike

Overcrowded. Overrated. And relatively boring most of the hike. A nice workout and a gorgeous wait in line at the top. This hike wouldn’t be so bad if not as many unprepared and rude people hiked it. Go extremely early if you want to enjoy yourself and the nature around you.

Gorgeous trail, will be trying it again when the snow melts! We made it a bit past the party summit but turned back when the slippery snowy/muddy slope hit some exposure (wayyy too dangerous for my liking). Still a beautiful hike/easy scramble up to that point -- loved it!
