Not much to see with binoculars, still early in this season.

Great place to go for a quick hike! Easy trail, simple to follow, my dog loved it!

Nice flat walk with pretty views of the lake. Wide trails make for easy passing. Make sure to stop and see the castle before continuing the lake loop!

Falls are nice.

Follows the old Sanbornville to Wolfeboro scenic railroad track. 12 miles one way.
Time it n time for lunch at Lino’s in Sanbornville.

There's much more than 3.7 miles of trails here (I regularly do 4.5-8 mile loops here) AND you can connect with other nearby trail systems. Great place for short or long easy hikes/walks, bird watching, bike rides, snowshoeing, cross country skiing, hunting, fishing, and looking for tracks. Most trails are either flat dirt trails, partially paved old roads, or you can just walk the sidewalk if you have strollers or unsteady-when-standing individuals with you.

ARNWR was once a part of Fort Devens/Maynard ordinance depot and the historic ammo bunkers are still standing. The visitor center is open from 10a-4pm on weekends and is a great place to check out (especially with kids)!

Fair warnings:
This is a great find for locals & new hikers/outdoor enthusiasts BUT if you're looking for a physical challenge, you won't find it here.

The refuge boasts a large wetland and while this is ideal for wildlife viewing, during the summer it can get VERY buggy on the trails.

Dogs are not allowed on the refuge.

great place to bring the kids. Unusual plant life and long bridges that the kids will love. Short, flat hike that we return to several times a year

Fabulous place to walk with the dogs! Trails along pastoral fields, through the woods and open fields.

Beautiful trail, was very icy, but worth the effort with little kids.

Dog leashes might be a misnomer in the National Forest.. I think the requirement might be "under control".

Please note that this is open to cross country skiing ONLY. No hikers.

Trail completed from downtown Wolfeboro to Wakefield as of 9/30/2017. 12 miles in one direction.

We loved this, great visitor center (where we starred)!beautiful lake, interesting military structures, we extended our walk and went to the river and loved what we saw- the rail trail, pretty bridge over the river and some side marshes. The last half of the walk was nondescript but wrapped up a great 3 hour walk

We loved this, start at the location they recommend. Interesting river with an old mill, beaver lodges within feet of a river, two really pretty lakes, heap an ice cream at the barn in summer. Lots of trails to explore. A real gem

easy but cool

This was an easy trail. My wife and I were the only ones out there today for the two - three hours we spent there. Several people on here commented the trail was not marked well? We had no issues following the trail. There are some deep inclines if you want to get some solid photos. We will definitely go back! It is a beautiful area!

Flat and easy. Also easy to accidentally follow the wrong trail. It’s pretty. Nothing amazing but nothing unpleasant.

Beautiful set of trails. Dunes trail has a moderate number of steps to a beautiful overlook. Marsh loop currently closed.

Markings are confusing, very, even with a map. Water was low this particular week. Nice trail, nice open clearings with some pretty views of mountain ranges, not sure which ones. 2 hour hike. Rocky and wet in areas. I consider it easy, but was rocky and alot of incline areas. I would do it again.

To be honest trails are flat and fairly boring . The main trail is paved . I think would be a better biking trail than hiking trail . Several old ammo bunkers on trails . Putter Pond is nice but mainly uninteresting.

Don't be fooled by the mileage, the terrain and trail selection more than make up for it. Nice hills and scenery along the way make for a great run.

The trails are well marked and wide open spaces. It’s beautiful and connects to Pingree, Bradley Palmer, and Julia Bird.

Great trails, beautiful foliage views. Several raptors, waterfowl, warblers.

What a great trail! So beautiful!

Great walk. flat and shaded

Really nice and quiet trail. Trails are pretty well maintained, easy for kids but there's no way you could do it with a stroller. You'd end up carrying it most of the way.
