great walk

Very easy trail until the last 1/4 mile or so, then you are walking through beach sand the rest of the way. Totally worth it thought because you end at a stretch of beach that is mostly deserted. Great place to visit if you are in the Gulf Shores area and want to escape the crowded public beaches.

Kid friendly, no dogs. Beautiful scenery and you end up at the beach! One of my favorites. When I take my little one, this is usually where we go.

Good distance and can lead to more trails for further hiking. Can make a good day if it.

There was no sign with map of Trails or Destination Points. We walked down gravel road a ways and turned around.

Not an actual trail but it is an incredible experience to tour a battleship and learn about the history and see how it operated.

Wasn’t sure what I was getting into but through the woods through sand dunes you pop out at your own beach.. crystal clear water and to top it all off..dolphins swim just off the shore!!! This was a great hike and gets you away from the crowds of people in gulf shores!!

Hiked this morning. Easy trail till you get to the sand dunes. Ditch the footwear and walk barefoot to the beach unless you want to throw sand everywhere.

We did a ruck here with our crossfit buddies & it was a blast! Heavy backpacks made this trail a little more strenuous. Very pretty easy trail to the beach!

Great trails. 4 dollar fee to get in, I asked the guy for a trail map and he had them, I suggest get a trail map from him if you don't have the alltrails app. many places to park and camp. had a gazebo at one part where you can park and cookout, this park is very nice with many trails and has a historic battle field that's very interesting to be on, cant climb on the fort due to keeping it preserved, respectfully don't. Trails were marked fine kinda. theres a road that goes around the entire battlefield. Squirrels lane has two shacks for rent that are nice for camping. Nice pier by the Tensaw river, has a pontoon boat you can get a ticket and ride on to the black foot mounds. Trails start by restrooms, the man at the front will have all info you need. Dogs are very welcome, took my two and barely leashed them due to no one on the trail. Has many benches to sit and eat at on trails. A+

If you are looking for a nice quiet walk in nature this is not the place. A good portion of cemetery trail butts right up against the I-65 right of way and the noise is horrendous. Listening to belching 18 wheelers whizzing by at 80 miles an hour ruined the whole experience for me.

Really fun easy walk! Great for kids! No dogs. Lots of sand toward the end so wear tall socks or go barefoot.

Well kept trail. I usually combine this with other trails and do about 5 miles. Beautiful South Alabama forests! However, the trailhead is not exactly where the map says it is. The first part of what is shown is a road and the trailhead begins at the end of the road.

I don't known I would consider this a "trail." Spend the admission fee to explore the battleship, submarine and hanger. Well worth it. Tons of photo opportunities while learning about the US Navy and the role the battleship and submarine played in WWII. Many of the aircrafts in the hanger were on loan from the Pensacola Naval Air Mueseum so I am sure these are always changing so you will not likely see all the same artifacts and aircrafts every time. The only reason I did not give tgis 5 stars is because this was not a true trail to me and the real fun starts after paying for admission.

Very nice trail. Many more to chose from in the park. The ranger said about 26-28 miles total in park.

Excellent hike and secluded beach. Remanants of an old home near the beach.

We love this park for camping and hiking, it has re-opened, and the Bell/CCC trail and the Gazebo trail are both opened and being groomed and revised for maximum use and enjoyment. Yellow blazes mark the Gazebo trail and it is NOT just on the road, although part of it is at present. Red bells and yellow blazes mark the CCC/Bell trails on the other side of the lake. Come explore this GEM in Alabama.

WALKED THIS TRAIL SEVERAL TIMES BEFORE IVAN IN 2000-TO 2004, THEN IVAN PUSHED ALOT OF SALT WATER INTO THE FRESHWATER -GATOR LAKE, IT DID SOME DAMAGE TO THE ECO SYSTEM BUT I HAVE HEARD ITS BACK TO NORMAL, I AM FROM MOBILE AND LIVED IIN THE GULF SHORES AREA FOR 10 YEARS. I HAVE NOT HIKED THE BEACH TRAIL SINCE 2007 0R 2008 BUT ALL HAS RETURNED TO NORMAL FROM THE PICS I HAVE SEEN. I LOVE THE PRIVATE BEACH DOWN FROM GATOR LAKE, ..IF YOU WANT A GREAT PLACE TO LAY OUT AND SWIM IN PRIVATE TAKE THIS TRAIL, YOU MAY SEE AN OCCASIONAL HIKER BUT THATS ALL, BEFORE IVAN GATOR LAKE HAD SOME GOOD FISSHING, NOT SURE NOW

I can tell this trail would be nice when it hasn't rained much in the recent past. Unfortunately for me, I visited during this time and the trails were pretty much impassable. I tried several different sections of the trail and most were flooded, or the trails themselves had turned into a creek. I gave up after about a half an hour of jogging around and left disappointed (partcularly since I am from out of town, staying in Lucedale and drove nearly an hour to get here).

There are a series of trails located in this state park. It is Blakeley State Park. Cost is 4 dollars. Trails are marked and well maintained. There are horse trails and camp grounds as well. The only negative is the disgusting bathrooms which is full of ants, roaches, spiders etc.

This is the first southern hike I've done, and it definitely didn't disappoint. There are a ton of different routes in this area. Many different historic sites to check out, and lots of information on the native plants and animals available throughout the trail. Very pretty too!
