Unfortunately, we didn't get to see the great view at the end that was supposed to make it all worth it :( it was really foggy and you could barely see the people on the vista point. The trail itself is way below average to me. The downhill is sketchy when wet and you only get views at the end, and the entire time you're walking through the most boring jungle. Definitely not worth it if it was raining and you're suspecting overcast.

Great hike! We were there the next day after the rain and it was quite muddy. Otherwise it was amazing.

My wife and I hiked this trail yesterday. Slippery due to recent rains but the veiws of the Napali coast at the end were worth the slippery trail to get there. The hike out is uphill so it took a little more effort. We did the round trip in 4 hourd but if it were dry it would only take 3 hours. The trail is 3.8 miles each way and you can even explore a little further if you go past the railing at the end.

Excellent trail. Nearly all downhill en route to the end views and therefore entirely uphill heading back. Varying jungle forests and lots of roots to climb over but the views at the end are dramatic and worth it. Nā Pali coast views never let you down, so keep going even down to the dangerous precipice.

Incredible views! Going down is pretty easy when it's not too muddy. Going back is all uphill and slippery when wet.

Hiked this trail and it came out closer to 7.9 miles and approximately 2100 of vertical. Some sections Can slippery especially with a recent rainfall. Excellent hike would recommend. Those who are in good physical shape this is not a very challenging hike can easily be done without breaks. Those in moderate condition some breaks and closer to four hours. The way back is more challenging.

Awesome day of hiking today. There’s even a small cave to explore. The tortoises were a nice bonus as well. The views... well words can’t express it. You have to see it for yourself!!

This is a GORGEOUS hike!!! The views are outstanding. Like others have said, keep going after the picnic table. 360 degrees of views. There is mud and some scrambling, but bring one of the discarded walking sticks left by previous hikers to aid you a long the way.

This is hike hosts my favorite views in Kaua’i!

If you are in Kaua’i this is a must see. If you can get here slightly before sunrise this will be one of the best memories you take home with you.

It’s an easy walk but if you go far enough it can be good exercise. There are multiple trails leading to the same place. Many people jog it as well but you miss some of the views on the jogging trail. Not easy enough for those who can’t go up hill around rocks when necessary but good for adults and children.

Loved the views and the hike. Great hike !

Amazing hike. For those who hike regularly, this trail is not very difficult. Two or three very steep parts but so worth it. Highly recommend. Oh, and whoever said "save water for the hike back" you are a lifesaver. Water on the way back and at the end is much needed.

Decent hike, mostly shaded, great views at the end. Slippery and strenuous, took approx 4 hours with a short break at the turnaround. Popular trail, get there early and hike with pono.

Go to the second falls and recreate some Jurassic Park photos. The people saying it is not worth it are chumps and probably only saw the first falls. The second falls are further downstream. Go to the first falls and continue on down the trail. There will be 2 sections of spider like trees you have to duck under and crawl over. You will then hear the falls on your left. Go just a little further on the trail and down the muddy slope on your left so you can go to the base of the falls and swim.

Get there early as the lot fills up quick. Overall, an amazing hike. The trail is mainly wooded with slippery mud and exposed roots. However, the view at the end is amazing - haven’t experienced anything like that before. Make sure to go past the lookout point for an even better view if you’re not scared of heights. Glad I did this. Took 3 hours 45 minutes with a 30 minute stop at the end.

Not just one major defined trail to the falls, this hike is made up of multiple lightly trekked trails, try and stick to trails as close to the river as possible (at times it might be easier to hike in the river). We had a couple of instances where we hiked paths that led away from the river only to discover that they were dead-ends. Easy to get discouraged on this hike, just keep going, it ends at the huge waterfall. Probably best to just hike in water shoes for this one.

The view at the bottom of the falls is definitely worth the short but very slippery hike. This hike can be potentially dangerous in rainy conditions. If you are not an experienced hiker, don’t want to get muddy, or are not in the best of shape I would not recommend this hike. Technically they have the trail fenced off with numerous postings of ‘trail closings’, but if you really want to experience the essence and power of the falls, you need to trek down to the base of the falls because the overgrown lookout point doesn’t even do the falls justice. If you attempt this hike, make sure you are extremely sure footed and you know your skill level.

Awesome hike, kids would love it too(8 and above). We saw lots of turtles along the beautiful coastline. Not too long and not very strenuous, a must if on Kauai.

Very muddy, but definitely worth the view of Hanalei.

Absolutely gorgeous hike! The hike out is easy and mostly downhill so the hike back is more challenging. The view at the end is worth every bit of huffing and puffing on the way back. I would not go past the rail line if it has been raining recently, it can be very dangerous.

Amazing views along the trail, ocean breeze and all types of terrain to hike along. Easy with the right shoes and lots if water if course. Great way to spend the day.

Very beautiful shaded trail through the rainforest. Lots of roots and some parts do get slippery. Took my wife and I four hours (including lunch at the view) carrying our toddler in a hiking backpack, getting to the view was easy, paid for the view on the way back. Hiking poles were definitely appreciated on the ascent back. Recommend to get there early as the parking lot was half full by 7:30am.

The parking only has 11 spots, so plan accordingly. Do NOT park on the street or you will get a ticket and possibly towed.

The trail down is awesome. Only about a 10-15 minute walk but it gets pretty vertical and slippery. We recommend good shoes. You may need to use the ropes going up or down.

Once on the beach, if you’re adventurous, you can climb the rocks to the right and get to your own secluded beach but it’s dangerous. Do NOT go on the rocks if the waves are big.

Great snorkeling and lots of fish and turtles. For videos go to: YouTube/TheAdventureTravelers

Love this hike. Fairly simple, but due to heat and humidity it gives mainlanders a good workout. I did work my way out to the sketchiest points of this hike, with its shear cliff drops. It’s very doable, just be smart and slow! Several people have fallen from this spot. So know your abilities, limitations and respect this giant!

Beautiful views of the Na Pali Coast. This trail tricks you, it’s a quick and easy walk down to the views. But if you can’t go uphill for 3.25 miles after already hiking for an hour don’t do this trail. It’s a sweaty, stair master hike. At the bottom there is a narrow and steep trail to the end point, it’s a trip! You don’t have to go to the very end to get incredible views, but if you’re not afraid of shear cliff drops you should make the trek down. Including time at the bottom, snack and catch my breath moments on the hike back up, this took me 3.5 hours (relatively good shape, slow uphill hiker).

Muss auf der To Do Liste bei einem Aufenthalt in Kauai stehen! Noch nie vorher habe ich so etwas gesehen...

Not recommended since it's in a residential area surrounded by private property and the trail is not clearly marked what is private and what is public property. We walked over from our rental house and went down the trail a bit but turned around shortly after. If you decide to do it please be respectful of the residents and try to make sure you are staying on public land.

Super easy walk in a beautiful rain forest with views of Mt Waialeale almost the entire trail. We wanted something easy in between awa'awapuhi and alakai swamp hikes. There is a cute little waterfall at the end. The hardest part of the trail is getting over a huge eucalyptus tree that blocks the trail. Other than that, this is an easy hike for the whole family. Turn right at the picnic table to continue on to the little waterfall. The trail connects with the Moalepe trail just past the waterfall. We continued a bit further on that trail but did not see anything too different or special, so we turned around. This trail is perfect if you like forest hikes, shade, and amazing views of the wettest place on earth.
