I've done this hike several times. Easy enough for everyone, but still a fun accomplishment. Beautiful view, woods, lake, and wildflowers. That view of Mother Hood is to die for

easy hike, gorgeous views at the lake. our dogs loved it too.

the trail was really nice and our dogs loved it ! wide path !

I e only ever done the very short part of this hike where we loop back after the suspension bridge but this time we decided to go right and continue on. I looked at the map and I saw where we could stay in the Lava Canyon trail by keeping left at the bridge. Once we hit SCOTT trail we took a little break over looking the river. We decided to go down SCOTT trail u til it met up with the upper part of Lava Canyon trail. It is t marked but you can see the trail to the left. Also I knew it was only .3 of a mile. They really should put signage there. The upper trail is all up! Looks like an old Forrest access road overgrown. But we had to take a couple short breaks to rest. It’s over 3 miles up. I believe we climbed about 1204 feet. I could definitely say no dogs past the suspension bridge and this is definitely rated HARD in my book. Scary at times. I am glad I did it.

Great trail for all ages. The views are spectacular!

Beautiful hike but didn't realize the number of stairs involved. Expected a few but those of us plus 70's with hip and knee issues had to take the stairs and stone steps slow and easy. The heighth of the stone stairs varied greatly. We also found that a few areas we're beginning to erode away, making some areas a little difficult. But with all that said, it was one of the best hikes we have ever taken.

My brother & I hiked this trail and it was yet another GREAT and WORTHY hike for sure.
There are some pretty AWESOME views on the way to the ASTOUNDING looking waterfall and is also a very good hike because the journey back has different views and is a different cool trail because it's a loop hike.

P.S. There are some GNARLY potholes on the way to the parking spot but as long as your aware of how and where your driving even a compact car like mine is able to make it without damaging your vehicle.

Nice walk along mostly gravel path.

Beautiful hike and fairly easy. Ramona falls is gorgeous and a lot bigger that expected. Highly recommended.

just went yesterday with 5 grandkids and it was great. ranging in age from 7 to 14 years old. We started from fern ridge road, up the gravel road by the cows to the trail head. took a break there at a picnic table and started up the trail. kids loved the falls and the stairs. Ended up at the campground for lunch. Left Salem at 8.30 and were back home by 1.30. just a great day!

So beautiful, definitely worth it to go on to the Tom Dick & Harry trail once you loop the lake!

Amazing place

Very picturesque and mild hike. The elevation climb was gradual that it felt very easy. It was an overcast day so we kept a good pace. The river crossing was easy since the water was low. The falls were smaller than I imagined but still quite beautiful.

Maybe this is a good hike for inner-city folks looking to take in some “nature”. Not so much a hike as a short nature walk.

Not my cup of tea - the entry “trail” is a gravel road through private property, followed by short trails to a couple little falls. One of the falls is right on the road, which is good for access, I suppose. We walked to two more falls that were kind of neat, but wouldn’t go back.

In all fairness, we “hiked” this early summer, and the falls are probably considerably more voluminous and spectacular mid-winter, but be prepared for mud of hiking to the other two falls.

I’ve done this twice now. It’s a pretty trail no matter what time of year. WALK ON THE GRAVEL ROAD UNTIL YOU SEE A BRIDGE TO THE RIGHT. I see many people getting lost on the off spurt trails. Dog friendly, not a hard trail either. The gravel road is more tiring than the actual trail. Lots of cool history as well.

First time hikers with a 9 yr old and a pregnant lady. It was rainy and overcast but was still lovely. Maybe we’re just optimists, but nothing ruined our hike!

so worth it

Fun hike this summer. The fall's were worth it. Just remember to get your trail use permit. I didn't know the US Forest Service was requiring them and got a $5 warning ticket!

Just a beautiful hike along hwy 101 and parts of Oregon coast. Although some of the trail intersects with the road you barely notice it’s there.

Absolutely beautiful!

great short trail to the top and bottom of the falls. three kids and myself enjoyed this very much.

My husband and I hike from the south trailhead. It took us about 45 minutes to get to the summit. We arrived at the viewpoint and noticed a large climbable rock behind us. It was indeed climbable and we had incredible views from the top. There was an easier way down that can be clearly seen from the top. Going up it is on the right of the trail just before the view. After a good hour on top trying to memorize the view we continued to the north trail head and were rewarded with more incredible views as we were nearing the trailhead. We ran the 2 miles back to our car

Trail not maintained. Nothing really labeled. Bummer images look great

A long but very easy doable hike. I definitely suggest completing the loop, because the way back is a lot prettier and more exciting IMO. Use caution when crossing the river, there was a decent log for crossing, but water was flowing too hard to walk through. Use discretion about bringing your dog(s)! With no bridge they either have to walk through the river or cross a log, which the water was too fierce for the poor Shepherd I saw be forced across by his owner, and was very scared. The stream is lower and less fierce when it hasn’t been raining as well as earlier in the AM. A beautiful waterfall and peaceful place to sit and enjoy. Definitely a great hike for a cloudy day when Mt Hood isn’t visible or anyway!

The trail was great and beautiful, but I should have heeded the warning about the bad road. My '06 Dodge Charger, low to the ground, hit a huge pot hole that cracked my coolant tank and the return trip to Portland was less than fun with overheating and pulling over until Fred Meyer in Gresham. Low cars, be careful!

Really nice hike. It deserves the “moderate” tag because there are rocks and tree roots everywhere under foot, making it a little tricky especially when wet; but the trail is wide and leisurely for sure. I didn’t go on to Tom, Dick, and Harry because it was so foggy I could barely even see the lake, much less any views of mountains in the distance. I’ll be back on a clear day.

Go early to avoid a crowd at the top.

Beautiful area, very short hike

great hike to mirror lake but of you are going to go that far take the Tom dick and Harry trail all the way to the top and get views of five peaks at the same time( hood, Jefferson, Rainer, St Helen's, Adams) such an amazing view.
