amazing experience, what a beautiful island, trail was fairly difficult but challenging, had to stop quite a few times, and the last ridge trail to the top was dangerously exciting, A+

The trail is as described, we went 5 days ago and it was still slightly muddy from the rain 4 days prior. So just keep that in mind, it does not dry up quickly

Bonne randonnée mais nous nous sommes un peu perdus car les indications dans la trail sont absentes. Nous avons pris un chemin dédié aux 4 roues! Finalement on a marché presque 15 km. En descendant les roches sont glissantes lorsqu'il pleut.

Absolutely stunning trail. Many flowering blooms. The waterfall is not as impressive as Manoa Falls, but the abundance of flowers makes up for it. We actually did both hikes on the same day with 3 children (7, 8, and 10 years old). We started the trail at the bottom while at the Lyon Arbetoreum. There is a place to cross over to Manoa Falls at the top, but we just came down and did Manoa Falls starting at the bottom as well. We ate lunch at the snack shack in between hikes. I bring all my visitors to these hikes, they ate gorgeous. Don't forget bug spray!

Amazing views and very little traffic. Definitely recommend!

3/25/2018-Started in the late side at 0820 and came across 29 groups/solo hikers (some had their dogs with them too). Also came across 3 suvs driving on the road so be aware. Definitely a good cardio work out and the trail was a little muddy but not too bad. The view of the Makua Valley was pretty nice but we opted not to hike the whole ridge. Most of the trail is shaded but would recommend sunscreen anyway.

Love this trail. Challenging at times but lots of nice pathed straight-aways, cool trees and plants that provide shade and epic views of the city. Basically you end up hiking in the clouds! Highly recommend but wouldn’t bring small children, I saw two families that had to turn around. It’s definitive not the easiest hike but worth the effort for the beautiful views / photographs! Good work out, too!

Best panoramic views I’ve seen on Oahu. My knees took a beating but it was a really fun trail with a few exciting rope scrambling spots, beautiful ridge views and sweeping island views.

Was a great hike! But we did it in a rainy day, the way up was very muddy and slippery! I will come back for sure but sunny day :)

It was really muddy & full of mosquitoes. Don't worry about getting dirty, muddy, or wet. Have fun!

First part is a series of switchbacks to gain elevation. This is a good workout up to the picnic area. The real fun begins after this though. The elevation gain up the old fire road is very peaceful and quiet. Didn’t see another person the entire time. At the junction with the Kuaokala trail, if you take it to the right then you will hit a fence that has a gate to open and go through. From here you are treated to views of Makua valley. You can continue on the trail which is mostly a ridge hike. It’s not an overly difficult one so it is worth going a little farther for more views if you have time. I did a little less than 10 miles round trip.

Family friendly, with great views of the north shore and Makua valley.

Great medium-difficulty ridgeline trail for hikers new to ridgelines. Well maintained and not as dangerous or slippery as many others. Starts off a little muddy on an ATV track (you might see boar hunters) and soon leads to a path along the ridge, with great views the whole way. Easy going until the last half mile when you gain the most elevation, using stairs and rope to scamper straight up. When you get to the radio tower, this isn’t the top!! There’s still about 5 minutes until you reach the true peak (with a bench - thank you to whoever set that up)

Took us a few hours, I recommend heading out before the sun is high and bringing water. Snacks not necessary if you eat a big breakfast. It was cloudy when we went but still got amazing views, became 100% foggy at the highest peak but got lots of good photos/looks before that.

trail is in good shape, the stairs make it a workout but the view is worth it

Loved this one. Took a lot less time than Kuliouou and I felt that it was easier. Great views at the top, one moderately challenging rope section because a few stairs fell out and it was quite muddy. Recommended!

Looking to do this hike between 2/28 and 3/9.
Anyone else out there interested???

Extremely muddy but the view was amazing. Be very carefully of slipping. Very steep at parts and mud makes it much harder. Bring shoes that you don’t care about getting destroyed. Views only get better the higher that you go.

One of my favorite hikes on Oahu. You'll get better views at Koko Head or along one of the other panoramic trails in town, but this one really ticks a lot of boxes. It's a good workout, has views, and is only moderately trafficked. I get the notion that most people tend to hike to the picnic shelter and then turn around, but I continued onward and ascended (at this point, the trail is an old fire road) to where it meets the Kuaokala Trail. Past the picnic shelter, it's just you, the trade winds, and the occasional bird song. Very peaceful; feels almost sacred. Views of the Makua Valley are worth it. If you elect to complete the entire trail, bring plenty of water, snacks, and trekking poles. The descent can be a bit hard on the knees otherwise.

Interesting valley hike, don't miss the ruins on the left going in and all the great cultural signage, pics added.

Gorgeous views.

Hiked up from the Kealia Trail. Nice shelter and picnic table about 1/3 way up Kealia. You may think you have summited but don't be fooled. Substantial climbs after that to the T where you meet the Kuaokala Ridge Trail. Turned left at the T and got lost. The road and the ridge trail are not always the same and not well marked. Disappointed because I never got to the views on the west side of the ridge. Kealia is a great hike with awesome views, but if you want to do the Kuaokala Ridge, I recommend getting a permit and coming up from the west side through the Military Reserve.

Absolutely amazing. Good workout and the view of the mountains from the Summit is majestic!!!

Middle Ridge was a little rough for a beginner but the rest of the path was fairly easy. There was no clear sign that the trail had ended so we followed a pig trail then decided to turn back.

Middle Ridge had a beautiful view. Definitely worth it.

Good trail, steady incline and view of beach and ocean is beautiful. Saw a gorgeous peacock in a tree & found Thai passionfruit along the way.

Fun hike with a good view !! Another trail checked off my list !

great hike. nice views. once you get to the trail end sign take a right and start going up. you will constantly be using ropes to climb up and down. we brought our dog and for the most part she could climb it but there were times where i had assist her and lift her up cause she couldnt climb it.

Very nice trail with a rewarding view at the top, be aware that the heat can be blistering on hot days and the trail/ terrain can be impossible when wet and rainy.

Wiliwilinui was fun. For those saying it's difficult...well...I declare SHENNANIGANS!!! A moderate hike seems fair. Its not an easy paved path like Makapu'u but it's not EXTREMELY vertical. Sure, there are sections of stairs, but those stairs are maintained and if needed, a secure rope is available for added assistance during your climb. We scored the path today under partly cloudy blue skies and gentle trade winds to cool us off. Perfect weather conditions. As with any hike, a little weather research stretches a long ways. Bring water. We crossed paths with a half dozen hikers along the way. The panoramic views at the summit are top notch. The east and south shores are viewable from the summit along with views of Waikiki in the distance. Enjoy.

This was an awesome hike. Being short was hard on the stairs part because it felt like I did like 90 lunges but the view is awesome. It was muddy because we went the day after it rained but a well worth hike. Good shoes with traction recommended. Getting there was fairly easy! Good hike for people who haven’t hiked anywhere yet but wants a small challenge
