Great Lake for kayaking! During windy days it provides a little fun getting through the waves.

Enjoyable open trail, few trees and little shade, well maintained trail!

Some pretty spots but not much of a hike. Very exposed and crowded on the weekend.

Great hiking trail. I liked the different elevations. Many mountain bikers from both ways to watch out for, but they alert you when they’re coming and let you know how many more are behind them. Looking forward to biking next time although it looks a little harder than a moderate trail.

Wear bug spray. I think I fed half the mosquito population of Palos on our walk!

if u take the sidewalk trail .. it turns into a very good cardio workout!!! not so much for kids...
hiking iz new to me but ... i have to say ...
probably the best body workout i’ve ever had !
and i’ve been working out my whole life !
I think y’all need to check this out before ya
judge . .. good luck !

My wife and our dog went there for a mid-morning hike.

Fun on a bike . The downhills after the climbs are like rollercoaster rides.

I love this trail! It’s a beautiful spot that has open views and lush vegetation. Bring my dog here all the time.

A good find in southern Illinois! Pleasantly surprised.

This trail has been expanded to more then double the length in 2017. Should noted that horses are allowed too. It can entered off Jericho Rd or Granart Rd

Nice steep hills. Outer loop of the trail is not maintained. I’m 5’8 and the weeds were taller than me. Easy trail for a warm up

Truly enjoyed this trail. Rolling hills, great vistas, and bullfrogs singing at the Tomahawk Slough.

This trail is the definition of "bang for your buck". It is super accessible for hikers of all skill levels and is quite beautiful, in spots. Go early and hike the cloverleaf of inter-connected trails. Skip Stephens' Falls unless you like a crowd.

- Close to home (Madison)
- Beautiful natural landscape
- Trail(s) is/are well marked

Cons: (not really)

- Super busy! Hard to relax.
- Crowded parking on the road
- Trail is heavily wooded in spots...mosquito and tick repellent is a must must must!

It's a nice hike, I guesstimate the path is two thirds shaded. I disagree with the label "moderate", this is an easy hike and the hill on the northwest side can be avoided. Rated 3 stars because of the mosquitoes and it is muddy for days after rain. Sometimes I see people with stand up paddle boards and kayaks in the lake (be prepared to carry them from the parking lot to the launch area) - I personally have not done this but it's worth the mention.

Continued to Lost Canyon Trail from Stephen’s falls. There were some beautiful rock formations with regular encounters with small creeks throughout. Trail is well marked. I definitely recommend bug spray! There were some steep inclines, but worth it!

The trail itself is very challenging and wonderfully rustic. From an aesthetic point, it’s great! I had a hard time finding the loop and ended up turning around because the mosquitos were absolutely awful. I even sprayed myself on the trail but nothing worked. I would love to try and explore this trail some more, but the bugs might keep me away

Great workout. Steep hills are challenging.

For this area this is not an easy trail. Moderate and if you aren't paying close attention it's somewhat easy to get lost. history of the woods is interesting. stay on the marked trails.

As a novice, this trail was tough for me, very tough after intersection 30! There were some big dips that I didn’t even attempt, lots of tree roots in the trail, and a lot of mud after the recent rain. Tough but fun!

Should not be labeled easy. Maybe for hiking. Biking is only for experienced bikers. Lots of ups and downs. Lots of Rocky/Sandy terrain with many visible roots in the middle of trail. Also pourly marked. Have fun!

Garmin plotted it at 5.83 miles. Pretty easy on foot and well marked. Trail was a lot of fun and good elevation changes for the area. There was an expected mix of courteous bikers and douchewaffles, but overall the baddies didn’t ruin the hike. I want to come back and try to run this trail.

Very scenic and connects to Millennium Trail. One of my favorites!

Not impressed at all. Trail is not being maintained at all. Got down towards the bottom and couldn’t find the trail. Had to turn around because the mosquitoes were insane. I saw a turkey though which was cool.

horseback riding

the trails are like riding a roller coaster, fun trails to horseback ride but not safe trails to share with bikes. to many blind curves and hills, an accident waiting to happen with speeding bikes and horses.

This trail is beautiful and easily walked. There is a nice balance of sun/shade from spring-fall. I really like this trail.

This is a lovely hike through a wooded grove and some open prairie. Hilly enough to provide exercise.
