This very easy trail was a pleasure, just a stroll really. There is a beautiful drive to get to the trail head. The facilities include a rest room and picnic area. The out and back walk is a little uneven with roots and rocks, so be a little extra careful in the fall when the path is covered with leaves. The last section down to the falls is a tad tricky but so worth it.

This is a fairly easy, if lengthy, hike. Fair warning, being close to the water means everything is kind of damp, and there are a few soft spots here and there. Overall, though, there's some fantastic views of the lake, and a small beach-like area you can climb down to either for a rest or for a few good pictures. There are plenty of other little branches people have worn out that will take you to the edge of the water, as well, although they are a bit precarious. The trail is a bit narrow in spots, though, there are roots, and people like to ride bikes along it, so don't fall.

This trail it's self is nothing to talk about, but the falls are decent.

Amazing place to spend the day. Cold water and beautiful waterfall. Not very much during the summer though. We took a dog too and had no issues. Lovely place. Kinda hard hike down into the canyon though.

Loved this trail!! I would say it’s an easy hike with sections of moderate. Mostly a steady grade except as you first leave the falls area! I traveled from the Cleveland area, GPS directed a different route going the falls than when I left. Take Hwy 64 route to access pull off areas with fantastic views.

Love this trail! Easy and beautiful!

I had a great time hiking and running on this trail with my daughter. The trail head was just off the exit from the highway and very easy to access, it was mid afternoon and there was no one else there. For a trail so close to a highway it felt very peaceful. I highly recommend this trail. Single track, rocky, nice hills, very beautiful.

Great hike

This a great 3.3 miler just outside of Chattanooga...easy to get to and a great easy to moderate hike with woods, interesting rock formations and a rewarding view of Nickajack Lake at the farthest out point. If you take the right turn on the loop you will have an easier go of it. The left way will create a rocky ascent at one point in the trail where it is moderate. The trail is well blazed if you go left but some of the blazes have disappeared if you tackle it from the right so you may want to look over your shoulder if you get off the path. This is a great trail for Fall through Spring but can get overgrown in the summer.

This was great trail with a couple of variations for length. Like others said, it seems to be minimally tended to so there are areas with trees down and a few spots you have to climb or traverse. Our 70 lb boxer was able to handle it well. The stairs at the beginning might be the hardest parts with really uneven step gaps.

The waterfall is worth the short (but steep) off trail venture. Absolutely stunning.

Views are outstanding right at the beginning.

good trail, some great views , cool suspension bridges. lots of downed trees, slipoery moss rock, roots, list the trail at one point, and had yo do some bushwacking

Just hiked here. Amazing views and a fairly easy trail if you hike a lot. Doesn’t feel like 5.9 miles in. I started at 7:30 and got back to my car at 12 and I hung around the overlook for about an hour. Feels more like 4 miles for the whole thing. Absolutely beautiful especially since the trees have started to change color!

Enjoyed the steps cut through Indian Rockhouse and other scenic spots along the way. The view at Snooper's Rock is a must see and a great photo op. Took my dog on this hike and she had a great time.

The parking area is on the right and clearly marked. There is a trail that intersects directly to the parking area, but that's not the one for this hike. This trailhead is across the dirt road.

Easy, flat, wide trail to a beautiful waterfall that is worth the trip. Just some rock steps to get down to the falls at the end. Great for families and very heavily trafficked, so expect the trail to be crowded with rambunctious children and dogs. Looking for a quieter experience? The Chilhowee trail system has multiple routes that will get you to the falls, so if you are an experienced hiker looking for a quieter journey, take one of the longer, more challenging routes, like Slick Rock or Clemmer.

Enjoyable hike through the woods. Rocky terrain with some nice scenery of the Tennessee river. Marked really well.

This is a gorgeous trail, but the red loop shown on the map is misleading. In order to complete the loop you have to climb a ridge/cliff, unless there's something I missed.

Nice, scenic route. One of my favorite parks in TN and a great escape from the heat in summer months.

This trail is just perfect for me. It is an easy trail, although I did get tired toward the end. Lots of great scenery. I hiked it with my son who is 34 years younger than me. He adjusted his pace so he could stay with me. He usually runs! Overall, a nice and enjoyable experience.

Best view of a hike we have done. Pictures don’t do it justice.

Nice hike to attractive 65 foot waterfall. Marked with blue i-shaped paint blazes. Mostly flat and easy on wide trail until you reach the stone steps down to the base of the falls at the very end. Go after a good rain for best waterfall viewing. Overall, best short hike at Chilhowee Recreation Area.

Great hike in the woods! We went on a Sunday morning and didn’t see one other person. It has minimal views of the water, and lots of mosquitoes- so we definitely recommend cooler weather hiking for this trail to avoid the mosquitoes as much as possible! We saw a huge buck and some birds. Pretty quiet once you get about halfway out- otherwise you hear the highway most of the time. Overall a good trail with well marked trees and pretty decent trail maintenance considering the lack of hikers. Happy Wandering!

A great easy walk. There was enough water over the falls to make it beautiful.

Lovely trail.

This is a superb trail for running. Minimal elevation, clear path with few obstacles, wonderful views and little traffic.

Plenty of parking. Easy most of the trail with some rocky areas around the creek. Lots of water in creek after lots of rain. Very pretty. We had small dog (9lbs). Had to carry over some rocks but she walked most all. Great hike.

Great little hike and the waterfall is small but pretty. Go early so you can enjoy it alone for a while. Hike was a good change overall. I think maybe a lot of folks here didn’t do the hike noted here. This takes you through the climbers access trail which is semi well marked. I went down and around climbers at one point so I didn’t disrupt them.

This is one of my favorite hiking trails. Especially when you make it down to Rainbow Falls ;)
