Can anyone tell me if you need a park pass for this trail? Will delete this after I possibly get a response :) thank you!!

Have done this hike a number of times - once in the winter and of course different times in the summer/fall. Have been up past the first set to the waterfalls in behind - though yesterday’s was just to the first set. I’m sure this is one we will do time and time again when we want an easy hike with the reward of a waterfall at the end!

This trail is much better than the reviews give it credit for. You will have to climb through a destroyed river bed for the first portion because of the floods but, for me, that was super fun. you get to pick your own way and cross the stream a few times. If you want more of a path hug the left side going up. Views at the top were impeccable. The whole thing took me 8 hours. would gladly do again.

I would recommend if you are planning on doing this hike to do it later in the summer or early fall before the snow. I did it in July and the snow was so heavy we could not find a trail. Unfortunately it also was very cold and with it being quite open for the majority of the hike wasn’t as enjoyable as it should have been. I will definitely try this hike again but next time with poles, late in the summer, extra layers and water proof shoes!

Really great. Takes about 2 hours to go up slowly then an hour to run down.

the smoke at the top makes the view unique :)

Beautiful hike. I did this trail in May 2017 with my 2 year old son. Beautiful mountains surrounding you as you enter the beginnings of the actual mountain you are about to hike. Glorious waterfall, that gives off a refreshing mist. Historical rock beside the waterfall that looks like a troll (I'm guessing that's why it's named troll falls?) anyways! it was great . wouldn't say it's as easy with a little kid by your side but it's still worth it! so much fun!

I've done this hike many times. it is satisfying for all skill levels. great views and a very short drive from Calgary.

Steep hike through out. went to lake and went back which took 4.5 hours at a steady pace. patches of gravel and boulder crossings. lake scene is worth it.

Very nice hike

A steel climb capped off by some amazing 360° views of the surrounding area. The hike has a good variety of terrain - from wooded forest to mountain top Alpine. The top of the hike gets a bit steep and rocky which makes it a but slippery, so make sure you bring good hiking boots.

Great trail. Not too difficult, but some fairly steep terrain for a few minutes. Make sure you stay right when making the loop. You’ll have a more gradual climb and the best views that way. That saves the steeper decline for the way back. The return of the loop also has great views of the surrounding mountains and lakes.

Very nice hike with some decent views. My 5 and 7 year old were able to do it no problem. Took us about 2 hours round trip from the bottom car park. A good workout for us not-so-experienced hikers!

Was a cute leg burner. Got up to the top no problem but got lost on one of those infamous animal trails and got caught in some pretty bad smoke and had to climb down to the creek to get down. Pay attention to the right trails on this one but if you get lost CAREFULLY head down to the creek and it'll lead you right back to your car. Some cute scree on this one too.
Stay safe fellow hikers

Our favourite family friendly hike. We do it every year.

Did this one yesterday! Good for all levels. Awesome trail with awesome view. A bit crowded.

Hard trail but the views are worth it. Easy to get lost of take a game trail instead of the intended path, you'll need proper gear and to be able to do some free climbing on some sections especially on the last quarter of the way up.

Great quick hike you can do after work on a weekday with a rewarding view. I hiked up for 1.5 hours and down for 1 hour. I did it alone and without poles, it was fine but poles would have helped for sure. There are about 3 areas with a very steep climb, but no need to scramble. Excellent workout for sure !

The start of the trail isn’t marked, I parked in the lot where there was a sign for beaver lodge, cross the street and turn right. There’s a little path marked with pink flags.

It was a bit Smokey today you can see it in part of the sky and you can smell it in the air. It was still great regardless.

Bring a lot of water ! I had two bottles and was still thirsty at the end.

Very steep but very rewarding with a great view. Took us about 5 hours to complete

Good hike, gets challenging higher up but doesn't take too long to get to the peak. It is busy so you have to stop to let people past on the narrow parts but I enjoyed it :)

Amazing hike with breathtaking views. I would not recommend doing this hike without poles. I also wouldn’t recommend bringing larger dogs as it would be difficult to cross the chains.
It was a challenging hike but completed with 5 hours at a moderate pace with lunch on the summit. Definitely don’t do this as your first hike of the year.

Solid hike, but start of hike not marked.
Trail starts on north side of 66, east of elbow falls parking lot - start on elbow valley trail which has some pink flagging tape. After a few metres you will make a sharp left turn up to start prairie mountain trail before crossing a culvert that would continue down the elbow valley trail east. Really straight forward after that!
Good leg burn with great views. Poles would’ve been nice! 3 hours.

Exactly what I hike for, Cirque at the top was gorgeous, beautiful Creek alongside path, very good hike all around. only downside is trail becomes hard to find at times and we couldn't find the shortcut route at all until we were closer to the bottom, ribbons or markers would be helpful here. If you aren't comfortable navigating a hard to find trail, an out and back to the first cirque is still well worth it!

This was s good hike for our family. We hiked with our two boys (10&8) and our pup. Lots of families and people going through the trails. Pet friendly

This was a good hike. We did this with our two boys (10&8), and our pup. It wasn’t to long but long enough for an evening hike.

Not a very rewarding hike to say the least. The amount of incline and distance you have to travel was not worth the views of either lakes.
