A few parts weren't marked well but we found it using this app

This is a wonderful 2.5 mile trail to hike. It had good elevation and turns with very good trail markers. The dense trees provided a perfect canopy on a hot, humid morning. We wished we had time to hike the entire trail. To get to the trail entrance, follow the golf course signs to the practice area and first tee.

I'm an avid hiker/explorer and this place is a blast! Make sure you have atleast a full day to enjoy this magical place!

Very rocky and is more like 4.5 miles long. Trail markers are confusing.

Enjoyed it

Beautiful with challenging elements.

Great trail, easy to navigate. Lots of spider webs, but hey, we are in the woods.

my s.o. took me here for my birthday last year. great views and we had fun. now chain o lakes will always hold a special place in my heart.

Some forks in the trail are not marked at all, so this turned a bit into a guessing game. When you get to the parking lot, go on the unmarked wider trail and just a bit farther down will be a sign. We went with young children and took the wrong one from the start, which added a lot of time. It was pretty, but our kids were over it by the time we actually found the waterfall.

Also, the day we went there were a LOT of active spiderwebs that we had to gently push through. (ALL had spiders in them.) Just be prepared for that.

But this was very beautiful and only about 40 mins from SW Fort Wayne.

First, this place is huge, I’ve went twice already and still have been everywhere. The trails are not marked very well at all but I enjoy just walking wherever my curiosity leads me and I have a good enough sense of direction that it’s not a problem for me to find my way back. You also get cell signal so you can just mark your car on maps and follow that back if you need the extra help.
I went on a Thursday morning and only saw two other people walking and one biker. I then went on a Saturday morning and holy hell it was busy and there were so many bikers. The trail gets narrow in parts so this makes navigating bikers tricky at times. I wouldn’t go back on a weekend.

This trail was not at all as I expected, but so worth it. Hiked/Ran the full loop with all 6 expert routes, and I can see why this trail is graded hard. It was a true workout with several hill climbs. Passed only one other hiker and no bikers, but the parking lot was full of cars by the time we finished the hike. Took about 1 hour and 45 minutes. Well-marked and shaded the majority of the time. As others have indicated, bring bug spray.

beautiful scenery and a lot to explore and see. I'd rate this as more moderate but there a quite a few stairs and inclines. Paths are marked and clear.

Pretty good loop, especially considering its location. Lots of intersecting trails though and it can be tricky to know if you're actually following the route. Load the route into your recorder and follow that, double check yourself at the intersections. Also, the route that is currently posted (as of 8/12/17) actually does the loop twice. It's really closer to 4 miles with an elevation gain of about 500 feet.

This is a beautifully maintained bike trail. It says hikers are welcome on the sign, but the trails are too narrow to allow bicyclists and hikers through at the same time. Bikers had to stop for us to get out of their way. All were extremely nice about it (thanks!) but we felt like we were imposing more than sharing just by being there on foot.

We did a two day overnight on this trail. Camp sites are nice. Will do again in future.

This trail is a true hidden gem. one of the prettiest in Indiana.

Well-marked trail. Enjoyed the cave and the creek crossings. A well-kept park with nice scenery. Plan to return in the fall.

Good hike with nice shade and a few views of the Ohio river. Nice breeze and shade for a midday hike! Variety of terrain is nice.

The Shades has the best trails in the state. Prepare to walk in creekbeds and take extra shoes and socks.

easy walking

Beautiful, large variety of difficulty.

This park is very well maintained and the trails are well marked! We couldn’t record our hike because my phone battery is not stellar, but we hiked 7.6 miles with a combination of 8, 1, 5, 4, & 7. It was a super hot day and we were pleased to find that the Nature Center on the south end of the park is air conditioned with a lovely bird viewing room. We saw all of the falls but I think Tunnel Falls was the best! I liked Little Clifty Falls as well. When the map says the trail is rugged, they’re not kidding. The ruggedness is a great challenge, but be prepared to climb up and down on rock and roots quite a bit. Also, people who are afraid of heights should maybe stay on trail 2, because there are many drop-offs next to the trails up on the ridge. Overall we had a challenging, but rewarding, day in the outdoors!

Didn’t see a soul on this well maintained trial which is clearly maintained for bikers but I ran the trail. Not a lot of areas to step aside should the need arise. Well cleared generally but be aware can be very slick in the morning if dew is heavy or within hours of a rain. First third of seven miles in heavily shaded, middle third is meadows ad final third is wooded. I will visit overtime I am back in Indy as time allows. Beats the treadmill at the hotel any day.

Rocky but good

beautiful park, but the trails are not marked very well

Love love loved this cave hike and afterward we took trail 3 and 10 to go check out the falls. We stayed at the falls for quite a while then headed back to Nature Center
Had a great nights sleep

Took the whole family. Loved the trail. Beautiful area to spend part of the day in.

Loved trail 5. Tunnel Falls was my favorite waterfalls of the day, Caution on the rocks leading up to the tunnel as they are slick. The tunnel is closed to foot traffic from fall to spring. Trail 5 goes around the tunnel also. South end of trail has a 153 step staircase that will give you a great quad workout. There is also a leg of the trail to take you to the creek.

Great trail! Would not grade it as hard. More of the high end of moderate. Well marked. Dachshund friendly. Great workout. No real excess to the lake.

Nice hike, has a little bit of everything. Little creek sidewalk, some vertical accent and decent, had a little walk on a gravel road. Would recommend you bring a stick for cobwebs, and possibly long pants. Some areas were a little overgrown. A good break away from typical Brown county hikes, probably will end up doing it again down the road.
