If you aren’t from the area (like myself) be mindful of the elevation. It’s a steep hike, but I saw young children and older adults complete this hike. Know the most challenging Park was right before the lake. Also bring at least a couple of waters and a good snack for the top :)

Great hike. The views are awesome at the lake! Explore around and climb the boulders. Cool little cove to the right. Definitely a less traveled trail! Bear Lake parking lot said full at 8am, but we grabbed a spot. Spent quite a bit of time at the lake and as we came down we were passed by the masses going up!

Fun little hike. It’s been a while since I’ve been hiking last, so doing this one was a good boost!

An issue I have with the app:
It’d be nice to be able to hit the check-in even after you leave the area.

Haiyaha is a quieter lake compared to its neighboring Emerald Lake and Dream Lake. Massive rocky boulders line the lake edge and make for good spots for sitting with a snack. The lake is big - don’t be fooled by the little pond right before it. I started at Bear Lake Trailhead and looped to Dream Lake, Emerald and the Loch and ended at Glacier Gorge Trailhead where I caught a ride back to the nearby Park and Ride. It’s a nice workout with a mix of inclines and shade and views.

Beautiful lake!

This was a great hike. Lots of ups but downs too. The falls are beautiful! Plenty of places to stop and rest or have a snack/water break. We saw moose, deer and marmots. Our kids ranged from 7-15 and were all able to do this hike at varying paces. Made for a fun day!

I have been dying to do this hike for about 7 years now.. wELL I finally went and it didn’t disappoint! I got there and there were two cars in the lot lol before sunrise...got down and it was overflowing. 2019 they change regulations on how many can hike a day.. will be limited... so no you can’t get in the water it had a delicate ecosystem.. please follow the rules and be courteous. We love our Mountains!! The hike had a waterfall all the way up!! I found it to be very lovely. If you are familiar with RMNP hikes this is nothing more strenuous than those hikes. If you are not a hiker please take water because I drank nearly my whole camelback and it was a short hike.
Hike is I think moderate to strenuous but who doesn’t want a good workout! Hardest thing is the quick elevation gain.. just go slow enjoy the views!
Expect lots of people who don’t know trail etiquette! I picked up lots of lots of trash left by others.. take it in pack it out please.. if you are short like me 5’2” expect to use the rocks to help climb. Last bit is the hardest part.. KEEP GOING!!! Use the rails at the top scramble.
I saw an American Dipper in the water as well as trout. Gorgeous colors and worth the effort!
I am 6 weeks out from gallbladder surgery and if I can do it so can you!!!
Lots of water and proper shoes are a must!

Challenging, but not too challenging. It should be made aware that there are large boulders that need to be crossed in order to see Lake Haiyaha.

Absolutely amazing!! We are from Missouri and did this hike while out in CO. Most amazing views, very intense hike but so worth it!! Rough terrain but you are walking along a stream most of the way. Perfect Colorado experience!

This hike hits four stunning lakes, so obviously it was a good one. Only setback was the masses of people on the trail, but once you get up to Emerald lake it thins out. We climbed all the way up to the waterfall and there was even some snow!!

Amazing trail. Took the family of five including the 4 year old who made it just fine. Be warned stating in 2019 they are going to cap admittance to 615 a day and we saw at least 1000 people and we started at 8 am. (on a Friday in July) It's easily one of the most beautiful places I've ever seen and worth the effort

Amazing views! We parked about 7am on a Friday and the lot was almost full. Great for all skill levels.

Arrived at about 10:30am, was a lovely trail. Steep in some places, but it was fine even with a dog. Encountered a couple of other hikers.

Great hike. Lots of tree coverage and shade and great views at the top.

I would recommend using the Park-n-Ride option as the trailhead parking fills quickly. The shuttle runs every 15 min or so from the lot to the trailhead and back again. Plenty of bathrooms, which is handy when spending a full day there. From bear lake trailhead there are 3 lakes you’ll pass along the way. Watch for wildlife as I saw a female elk off to the side last week.

It was a beautiful hike and worth the uphill battle. It is very strenuous but was able to stop along the way. The views are breathtaking and if you decide to go up a little further you’ll get a surprise.

Holy cow, that was a HIKE! I was warned this trail was more than a "moderate" hike, so in my mind I was ready. The rest of my body didn't get the memo.

Helpful hints:
-- arrive early. Parking lot was full by 9:30 a.m.
-- use a walking stick
-- start slow, finish strong
-- stop and smell the wild roses
-- carry two bottles of water
-- pack a lunch (and carry out your trash, please)
-- make sure your batteries for cellphone or camera are fully charged

I will make this hike again.

Awesome hike with great views throughout. Definitely a leg burner though, so be prepared to get a good workout in!

One of my favorite hikes. Did this one on mother's day. Short but a little tough mountain. The view is amazing at the top!!

Awesome trail! Flat and relaxed hike that rewards you with an impressive waterfall. Saw 2 groups of moose and some elk

Great hike, lots of fun

Nice hike with lots of people, I prefer wilder hikes with no handlebars or decks.
It was so crowded that was difficult to find a spot for taking pictures.

Amazing views at the top of a pretty easy trail. Climbed on a big rock at the top to be almost blown away by the wind, climbed off the rock and sat at the base of it and couldn’t feel the wind at all but still heard it howling. Gorgeous area

Go early, this trail is exposed and gets very hot, too hot for dogs midday.

This hike was phenomnal! So much beautiful scenery. The hike has quite the incline on the way up. But the views at the top are totally worth it! Make sure to get there EARLY! The parking lot was full by 830am. Besides the parking nightmare, it was perfect. Also, the trail is pretty shaded the whole way which helps!

Great trail, falls are fantastic

Absolutely stunning and worth the relatively strenuous hike up (coming from a FL girl). We started this hike around 6:30pm and the temp (in late July) was perfect!! Thanks for the awesomeness Mother Nature!
