Great scenic trail, not for the faint of heart. The view is 100% worth it.
This one was tough over the rocks, but kids did it! Loved the challenge!
Fantastic trail, clearly marked signs. If you're a dog owner please pick up after your
A lot of climbing. Very pretty. Great workout. Amazing view!!
Oh god, great there is no stairs.
Definitely, 100% do this counterclockwise. Your ankles, knees and calves will thank you. It's far easier going up red and down blue. The whole trail is very rocky but the view is totally worth it. The length is also perfect as you get a great work out but don't feel totally spent afterwards. The waterfalls and the creek at the end are beautiful.
Did sunfish pond and mount Tammany. It was my first time, pretty amazing. Found Sunfish trail pretty easy apart from the rocky portion around the pond. Mount Tammany had some rocky portions that can be tough on your ankles if rocks are wet because of snow or rain.
Heavily trafficked. Highly recommend going up the red dot and down the blue dot as others have mentioned. Overall good, though we were in the clouds all day.
Great condition!
For New Jersey, this trail has it all. Pretty steep up the red trail with a little bit of scrambling but nothing dangerous. Nice views from the top with fun optional scrambling opportunity. Nice walk down the blue trail with a cool waterfall and creek to climb over and jump into, if you want. Short connection with the AT, which is always a bonus. A good trail for dogs that won’t pull too much and active kids.
Great trail! Lots of views. I’d suggest going up the red dot trail and down the blue dot trail. The red dot trail has a small portion of rock scrambling, but the view is magnificent.
Challenging and rewarding and beautiful
This is a charming preserve. It is quite picturesque. There were quite a few butterflies and some quaint landscapes. Be advised - this is very tiny. You will not be far from roads or homes for most of the trip. My highlight was a babbling brook and a patch of cedar trees.
We went up the red then went down the red it was a great view in this whether
we finished the red dot trail which was great. we tried to walk over to Mount Minsi but decided to turn around and drive over.
Take the red trail first bad it is easier to climb up than down all the boulders and rocks. The blue dot trail and the water falls are the reward for your hard work climbing up. I parked on the River side of route 80 so I go in some extra distance. Enjoy
nice trail, bit steep at parts but totally doable. nice view at the top!
What a hike! We start from blue came back from red dot. Beautiful walk near the creek. Going down the mountain was tough for me. It was very rocky, kids had a blast though. Not good for old people. Gorgeous view from the top and in the middle of red dot where you can see the island in the river. Please stop by at the first parking lot and enjoy the Delaware River and sandy beach at the end. Forsythia is blooming!
Hard definitely not moderate but doable
One of my favorite trails in the area. I always do red trail to blue/green trail. The red trail is a steep incline and the trail is covered almost completely by large rocks. The way down is less rocky and steep. On the blue trail you see a stream and a nice little waterfall as well. The view at the top is amazing and there are large boulders for sitting/ picnicking. My dog is lab mix and is about to be 13 years old. She makes it up with no problem. She is in good shape however and in the warmer months we hike often. This is our 3rd this week.
Wonderful hike! Took the red dot trail up as suggested. The way up was full of rock scrambles, and although the ascent can be a bit challenging you’re constantly rewarded with beautiful views. The blue dot trail is much less rocky and runs along a beautiful creek. Both trails are well marked. Would definitely recommend this hike, although I might rate it a little more on the difficult side depending on skill level.
very Rocky so get your calves ready. nice elevation gain and good workout
I hiked the trail from the beginning of the boardwalk to the staircase viewpoint on Easter Monday. It was my first hike of the season. It was a little more crowded than I would have liked during the pandemic, but it was a lovely hike! A good challenge in a scenic area. Took me about 4 hours moving swiftly but pausing to pass by people safely on the boardwalk and trail.
