Hiked this trail late this morning. About 2” snow on 90% of the trail. Starting temp was 51 degrees but a front passed and dropped 10 degrees. Snow was soft and not icy. No slush and trail was yet to become muddy. Fresh moose tracks in the snow before the fishing hole and had a chickaree yelling at me. GGCSP only 3mi from home - can’t beat that!

This trail is the perfect combination of straight workout and technical challenge. some very small sections are class 3-4, so please stop and think carefully with your approaches since it's likely you only brought 1-3 gear and no helmet.

I lifted my dog up some of the vertical sections with great success for the both of us.

As of 10/16 the gate was closed before the fee station which adds about 5 miles RT to any hike you plan to do. The road has some snow/ice but also has large dry stretches. Once you get near the Mitchell Lake TH you will be on snow the whole time. The trail is packed down for most of the way. I brought microspikes and snowshoes. Never put the spikes on, but snowshoes were very helpful once I got about 1/4 mile below Blue Lake. Was glad to have gaiters and waterproof boots. Beautiful hike.

Incredible experience! Dress warm and wear shoes for winter conditions. $11 FEE. This hike is full of captivating views of towering mountains and frozen lakes. 4.9/5!

Loved this trail. Slow enough traffic, great views, incredible vertical climb. Need hiking boots to hike this though, something with a high ankle and great tread as the climb down is scary. Near top is really rocky, and my dog had some tears in his paws, so I wouldn’t recommend this for dogs. But great trail overall. Not for biking, not for trail running, but a great workout.

Good trail with great views from Windy Peak. Don’t forget your $7 to park.
Found a perfect spot to hang the hammocks and chill.

Fabulous views as you go up, and it's definitely worth it to scramble up to the top. The trail had heavy traffic though, making it not as peaceful as I would have liked. With snow on the trail, the traffic really packed it in, making it fairly slick.

Beautiful trail, more like moderate with some hard sections. Pretty easy overall. Exposed with little shade. Encountered a rattle snake on the trail!

Note: the direction button for this trail leads you to the Green Mountain Trailhead, which is on the other side of Dakota Ridge! If you go there you'll probably have an easier time finding parking than at the Matthews/Winter park. You start on the Zorro Trail across the road, which leads you up to Dakota Ridge. I accidentally went down Green Mountain trail because I missed the signs and was looking for the red rocks trail. I drove to Matthews instead and took red rocks to Dakota. I kind of likes that way better. *

*bikes arent allowed the first portion of the village walk trailhead I think but are on Zorro.

Really unique rock formations. Coyote song is an easy trail, some inclines but nothing crazy. If you take the Lyons Back trail towards columbine trail it gets pretty steep. You can also go off path a lil and climb up to the ridge. Views were awesome, would not recommend the ridge climb to kids or anyone unsure of physical ability. Def go again, quick drive from Denver.

Arrived around 9:30am Saturday morning and parking wasn't more than 5 cars although once we got back to the car around 11:30 there was a line of cars and more people. There was snow most of the trail and icy towards the last portion of the trail, but was an awesome hike and fantastic views!

Lovely hike close to Denver. Did it counterclockwise in 3 hours (a moderate pace for the first half and slow for the latter half). Parking was easy at 9a on Saturday and there were a nice number of people— enough to not feel alone if something happened, but not busy. Very peaceful.

Moderate to easy hike, Blue lake is gorgeous! Snow and ice on much of the trail now. Cold and windy at top, but worth the work.

We went early in the AM and found parking. The trail wasn't rugged and we saw some deer.

Solid hike, not too hard and great views.

Mentally and physically challenging!! Don’t give up, best reward is to get to the top!

Awesome short hike with an amazing view! The view at the top is worth it. As of 10/12/18 there is a couple inches of snow and the top by the ridge is SO windy so be prepared.
Limited parking, we were the second car there at 9am and when we were back at 11am the whole side of the road was packed.

Did this hike yesterday in the middle of a snow shower, and it was really nice! Like others, we missed the turnoff for the falls, but found it after finding the sign on our way back down. Apparently, we hiked nearly 1/2 a mile past it. My phone was acting up, so I wasn't able to add a waypoint to the map.

That being said, this is a really nice hike. It would be great for out-of-towners, since the elevation gain is very managable. I don't know if it was the weather, or that it was Wednesday, but we ran into more bags of dog poop than people. Seriously folks, clean up after yourselves!

Hiked while it was snowing and the enchanted Forest sure did live up to it's name! The incline wasn't too bad at all. Cant wait to go back on a sunny day.

A terrific trail to view and appreciate the beauty contained within Garden of the Gods Park. Not only outstanding scenery but definitely less traveled than the central garden paths. Be certain to keep a watchful eye out for Bighorn Sheep on the Northern portion of the trail. Plenty of photo opportunities along this trail featuring plenty of fabulous red rock formations.

It’s a great hike for families. With a moderate gain and only 1.5 miles long you get some great views.

Well marked and great views. Great trail to see some wildlife if the right time of year.

Don’t give up! It is the best feeling ever when you get to the top❤️

Hiked 10/4. Mesa trail to fern. Strenuous constant uphill the last mile. Fun scramble at the top!

This was a great hike!
I tried to reach little blue lake but I could not find the trail for the life of me. After about 1mile of pushing on towards little blue lake I gave up, my dog was not happy with all the small boulders and snow causing us to fall a lot.
Otherwise I would do it again in the spring when everything is green

Pretty easy and amazing views, even on an overcast day at lower elevations. Would recommend to visitors to the area because of the huge reward for little effort.

Great but strenuous hike! We took Homestead trail, which is a small offshoot to the left as you’re heading in, to Shadow Canyon. We enjoyed Homestead because it’s less trafficked and smaller than Mesa trail, which is sort of like walking on a rocky road, but you can take either to get to Shadow Canyon. Shadow Canyon gets to be quite difficult, but is well worth it when you reach the top. Excellent views into the mountains and of Boulder. It took us 3 hours to reach the summit with a few short breaks, and 2:20 to get back to the parking lot. We were worked but satisfied!

Love this hike!!

We went up Mesa trail to Shadow Canyon to South Boulder Peak trail. We somehow missed Towhee trail and couldn't find Homestead so we took Mesa. That added mileage. The trails are beautiful, especially in the fall. You climb in ernest on Shadow Canyon trail. It's definitely hard but not the hardest I've hiked! You are scrambling at some parts of the trail but mostly just large steps/lunges. Overall great hike! Parking is $5. Get there early for a spot, like 11am?

The hike was about 3 hours start to finish. Great path up to the peak. It was foggy when I arrived but the sun peeked through and I got some great views of the golden aspens. Would definitely hike again.

Solid hike. Not much shade but great to hike near RRX.
Didn’t like having to cross street
