I couldn’t find anywhere about the condition of this hike after the fire. So I went and checked it out. Same easy access to it gate is open and no one stopped us from going in and also no posted “area closed” signs. For the most part the trail along the river bed was untouched by the fire, lots of mud and rock slides Have happened though and saw a few times rocks come tumbling down while we were up there. The water is dingy and cold so we didn’t go in. The trail up the hill away from the river was also slightly washed out by mud slides and lots of fire damage that way, cool sight to see plus right now there is new green growth coming through the black and ash. I recommend it. Wear boots.

This is great for a quick hike/trail run. Especially if you take the longer trail.

Just Beautiful!!

Is this trail still closed? Visiting mid-march.

Absolutely beautiful little trail. Driving to the trailhead itself offered gorgeous views of the mountains, canyons, and distant oceans.

The river beds were all dried up, but there is some flowing water when you get down to the grotto. The trail itself is pretty easy, but more towards the moderate side considering some of the loose rock on the somewhat steep inclines down into the canyon.

Although I was wearing long sleeves and pants, I did find a tick on my dog and one burrowing in my side when I got home, so please check yourselves if you do this hike.

Very sad to hear that this trail has been destroyed by the Thomas fire. This was one of the best hikes I've ever found. I hope that it will be restored within my lifetime so I can go hike this majestic trail again...

The trail has a has a sign saying it’s closed. The trail is fine until it turns to single track heading up to the ridge, the trail becomes slidey and quite sketchy in parts, very narrow and lots of sliding shale. Parts of the trail are gone due to the fire and it’s difficult to follow.

Closed due to the mud slides

Fun trail , would say it’s a little more then easy but isn’t moderate. Great work out .

Very crowded on a Sunday morning, which was to be expected for such a nice trail that wasn’t too difficult and you are rewarded with the waterfall at the bottom!

Rather easy , even for an active senior..

cool trail Little Rock climbing towards the grotto which made it even more fun, didn't come across any kinds of wild life unfortunately

Fun trail, but heavily trafficked.

Great hike, trail is well marked and we'll maintained; there is also a water fountain for drinking water near a shaded area. However, very crowded at times and you cant jump in the water due to contamination. Beware of rattle snakes. on the plus side there are a few tables for lunch near the falls.

Nice regional hiking park with modestly improved trails and some educational facilities. Several access roads allow nearly direct insertion to several points in park. Sewage treatment plant is located about 3/4 mile downstream of Paradise Falls. A lot of elevation change so I would rate this one as moderate. Be in good health when attempting!

Went hiking with my wife, a buddy & my husky and found that the grotto was great location for first time hikers. It was a bit windy and we got there early to beat that samo traffic (arrived @840am). Road to ranch is a bit windy and you’ll need to be mindful the cyclist’. Will be going again soon!

Is this trail really closed? Im visiting in February.

Great trail Santa Rose to T.O n back

Great hike beautiful water falls, we did 6 miles from Santa Roses to T.O, and back very enjoyable a must hike

Bear tracks found on fire break today!

This trail is open

Went last Saturday, with my wife, our 4, 8 and 21 year olds and our friends who had a 9 year old. We had a great time did the loop and came back up Indian Wells trail. The kids did great with the inclines. Beautiful waterfall and not too muddy which was a plus with the kids. Loved all the ducks down in the creek beds. It was a little crowded but I guess that is a good thing see people out hiking and enjoying nature!

Short, easy trail with a beautiful waterfall at the end. Weekends get pretty busy so if you want to get there and be alone and not have a million kids screaming, get there bright and early!

Cute hike to a cute waterfall.

Great hike. Just remember that what goes down must come up. Be sure to read the signs.

They only just lifted the restrictions in the non burn areas of the Los Padres, it's going to be a good time before they start allowing people back into the burned trails. Press release announced the fire was officially 100% contained, but all burn areas are still closed as they attempt to clean up. You can always call your local forest service office to inquire about trail closures prior to setting out.

The waterfall is gorgeous today.☺

Great and very extraneous hike. Waaay too much damage to the trail from the Thomas fire and landslides from last weeks rain causing a lot of the trail to be hidden under all the mud and fallen trees.

Nice hike with lots of ups and downs. The waterfall was really pretty tucked in a shady canyon. I can’t imagine doing this one in any other season but winter—it would be blazing hot with no shade! My husband remembers hiking this on field trips as a kid in the brutal sun. We had a great time doing a hike outside of Utah on a pretty, sunny, winter day.
