Not safe for dogs yet. Falls are gushing and icy. Make sure to wear hiking boots, the trail is very rocky and can be slippery at times. Requires some maneuvering.

Rough trail because of snow and ice but well worth the extra effort.

conditions were perfect. the cold created spectacular views. Best time of year to enjoy this trail without the crowds. don't forget to explore the old train tunnel post hike

Amazing hike. One of our favorites. Our daughters age 7 & 9 loved climbing the rocks. We went at the beginning of November. The weather was perfect and the foliage was beautiful.

I’m a beginner hiker and I thought this was a challenging trail. That said, it was 100% worth it. The views were amazing! Went 1/6/19, gorgeous day ~ 50 days and the falls were flowing!

Not too much snow today, but the rock scrambles have ice on them. Definitely recommend micro spikes - made the icy rock scrambles and the general descent much easier!

We love you Glen CoCo!!

I did this hike today. A few inches of new snow on the ground. This was a great hike. Lots of great views. Mini Waterfalls everywhere made for a lot of good pics and videos. 3/4 of the way up the hike does get harder but very doable. The view at the top is surreal. Can’t wait to do it in snowshoes once the snow gets deeper.

Walked this trail on a very hot day during August and enjoyed every second of it, especially the overlook points and crossing the waterfall, can’t wait to go back!

Epic views. It’s getting icy towards the top of the summit; you might want to bring microspikes or trekking poles.

Loved the hike took almost 5 hours. I wouldn’t recommend large dogs for the whole loop. Some portions you have to climb up. I would do this trail in the summer/fall.

New Years Day! Wonderful hike to start the year. As others have stated that Trail is not well marked at least in the beginning and near the end. After you park and come down the steps turn to the right and go under the track area. You can go straight ahead but it is more difficult or you can turn right and follow the blazes on the trees. We went straight along the river and that in itself earned thed difficult rating. Because of the rains this year the falls were outstanding! Superior! After viewing top falls we followed the blue blazes then ted to the bottom.

This is not the kind of hike I would take a beginner in poor shape.

There’s better up this way

Great hike, little slippery with the leaves but overall no problems. Recommend hiking shoes/boots as some parts were muddy, and gloves were helpful to scramble down without getting my butt wet!

I love Buck Mountain!
The views are delightful!!

This is a great trail with some gorgeous views but also a few challenging, rocky areas -- I wouldn't recommend for a beginner. The biggest downside is there can be too much traffic at times, as it's in a heavy tourist area.

A buddy and I went hiking here the Monday before Christmas and it was an amazing experience. the weather was perfect, wasnt too cold. I came here for a solo hike in the summer and it was extremely crowded but this time we didnt see anyone else on the trail. still green and falls weren't frozen yet. Great all around hike views are gorgeous, and I recommend it to everyone up for a challenge.

Not sure what the hub bub is all about, not a easy trail to climb, walking on top of rocks is no fun and the view is nice but obstructed by trees.

Hiked this trail during the summer time, went on a really nice warm day! Perfect, not to hot. Completed the trail in about 3 hours, it was a slippery trail around all the rocks because of the water. I wouldn't necessarily say it's hard. The whole trail itself is beautiful, offers nice scenery for great pictures!

We went after it rained the night before...was about 48 degrees. Walking sticks are good for this hike. Wasn't too slippery. The view was obscured by the mist but it was pretty cool to be up in the clouds! Will head up another time to get the view.

Hiking on this trail was ok. The elevation changes a bit from the lake to the path leading to black mountain but the climbs werent that bad. I feel like some of the paths were plotted to test your ability to hop on rocks over water and boggy areas. The first 1/3rd of the trail inbound from the parking lot south is nothing but walking on rocks (unless you want to walk in the mud and water in the low lands). I think it helps to have boots with a metal shank through the sole for walking on some of the rock areas in the park so your feet don't get tired from stepping on corners of boulders all day. For this trail would definitely recommend those kind of boots. You definitely need good boots on this loop. Only gripe I have is that the trail markers could be way better. Some trees, not so bad. Yellow bar trail was relatively easy to find. The white bar trail, which you need to follow out past the shelter (no one says that) is much more trickier to spot. there are no markers when you get to Silver Mine road FYI. You have to figure out that's the way you go. Maybe because it was my first time on this trail it was my fault for not knowing. There are no markers for the part when you come down the hill and hit the road. Past the road into the lowlands by the lake had to look for a bit to find the road again. You can see on the map the red line doesn't follow the intended dotted Silvermine road. So don't blame me if you cant find it at first.

Went here for the first time today beautiful place. I was the only one out there and it was awesome. It’s not a easy hike I did the whole loop in about 3 hours. I had to use this app a few times because trailers are not well marked. Definitely recommend! Wear proper gear it may look like a short hike it’s definitely a challenge. excited to return there in the warmer weather.

My family of 6 LOVED this hike so much! It was challenging and fun for all ages, but we took extra caution and went slow with our 6 year old. The kids loved playing on the rocks and we were so impressed with the waterfalls. I highly recommend this hike! Wear hiking boots for sure!

Had a great time hiking Sam's Point Preserve and Verkerdeerkill Falls. We completed this hike on black Friday (11/23/18) on a beautiful sunny 20° day. The trails were clearly marked and the map was spot on accurate as far as measuring out the distances of the routes. On top of the mountain was about 4 inches of snow and very icy. Unfortunately the ice caves were closed due to the amount of ice but we will explore that another day. We arrived at 9am on the dot with only 3 other cars in the parking lot but saw that within a few hours of being there the cars (and buses) loaded with people started rolling in; I would suggest getting there as it opens because the parking lot is very small. Staff was extremely nice and helpful, the young woman at the front desk gives a detailed overview of what to expect and there are other staff members driving around to ensure no confusion or issues arise. The sights were stunningly beautiful for such a quick and easy hike in which you can see multiple states and an endless horizon of mountain tops. Our route from the trail head was 1 mile to the overlook, 4 miles to the falls and back and then we walked back to completed the Loop Road around the lake due to the weather. All in all with a few little water breaks and a lunch stop it took us about 5 hours from arrival to departure. We will definitely be back to hike the High Point trail and Ice Caves once the weather warms up a bit!

Good trail, hiked this in the early fall to get ready for a trip to Yosemite. Waterfalls were great and was steep enough to get the heart rate up! Definitely recommended

great place near Saratoga/Glens Falls to test out you winter skills before tackling the ADK

Awesome trail hiked it today in the snow absolutely beautiful gotta hit it when there ain’t many ppl their cause it gets full

The views here are unreal. It's a really great challenge. The trails are blazed most of the way. You climb pretty fast, too. You have to make your own decision at the top to hang a left at the giant rock pile to get to the summit with all of the views. Went with trail sneakers, would definitely recommend boots. The rocks get slippery when it gets a bit colder.

Hiked on 11-11-18 Sam’s point , Ice Cave and Verkeederkill Fall Trail. Lots of water though after the rain. Recommended waterproof footwear.
Ice Cave is icy and cold. Make sure to dress warm. Verkeerderkill Falls view is Amazing, Beautiful trails.
The views are breathtaking. Awesome hike !
