One of my personal favorites, it's a quick, but steep and tiring hike to Pretty Valley and the frozen cascades are gorgeous. We climbed to the top of the big rocks and looked over the valley. Beautiful stuff. Until then the trail is well packed. We tried continuing past the massive rocks but the deep snow and time shortage prevented us from continuing. Wish we could have continued though!

It's a steep hike that offers really cool views of the Salt Lake Valley. Not one of my favourites as there's no waterfalls, rivers or lakes to look at. It is doable in winter and I enjoyed myself over all, but it is exhausting fighting all that snow and it delays you. Make sure you have more time than you think you need before sunset. It's dangerous with light-hearted sliding down the steep, slick trail.

We did this hike today, it’s was absolutely beautiful, sunny day and blue skies above the inversion, the trail is well packed all the way to the top, you need only spikes and maybe poles, we carried butt sleds and it was so much fun on the way down

Gorgeous hike up along the creek the whole way. Many small waterfalls, 10 bridge crossings and icicles from the cold. The snow gets deeper and deeper as you go along. There is a really cool swing and a fire pit if you want to sit by the creek and have a fire. The rock formations are also amazing. Some narrow trails with steep drop off's for those who are scared of heights. But only at the beginning.

Beautiful in the winter. Went up on JAN 10, trail was well packed for most of the route but was a little spotty in the last quarter, no problems just using crampons and poles. All and all took about 4.5 hours.

Beautiful in winter!

Great trail! I did it on jan. 6th so plenty of snow. The trail was packed so you dont really need snowshoes but it makes it pretty slippery if you dont have spikes/chains or poles although we managed without either. The snow is up past my knee off the side of the trail so slipping is not advised XD The lakes totally frozen and covered in snow but theres still a beautiful view of the valley

Did this hike a few days ago, the trail was compacted down for the most part. Wish I had microspikes or trekking poles, but it was still doable without. Definitely do this on a clear day if you can. It was cloudy when I did it, but still gorgeous. Took about 2 and a half hours to get to the top and a little over an hour to get back down.

Great hike today, snow was packed hard until the top. Spikes and poles helped a lot. Lake is frozen at the top - didn’t see any moose. 3.5 hours up and down

We used smaller snowshoes on the way up. They helped with grip a lot. We regretted not just using crampons though. The trail is packed down and we took the snowshoes off and pretty much ran back down. If you do it in the winter I’d make sure to do it on a clear day. Still beautiful views. Bring some trekking poles.

This hike is one of my favorites. The beauty and serenity of the meadows is why I keep doing it. I prefer going to grove creek and down battle creek.

Hiked this on New year's day and it was great! Lots of fresh snow, but still not hard to find the trail to the lake. The first half (until the fork to Dog Lake) we carried snowshoes because boots were enough, after that (while not entirely necessary, some people only had microspikes) we were glad to have the snowshoes, it certainly made the trek easier!

The 4 stars is for the time we did this hike during the fall. The fall foliage throughout the hike is amazing and you really get the wow effect when you reach the top.
We redid the hike yesterday (December 29th), and everything is covered in a thick layer of snow. Which gives very beautiful views, but not like in the fall and you definitely don’t have the wow effect once you reach the lake.
We had crampons & snowshoes with us. We only needed the snowshoes once we were at the lake to be able to reach a nice pick nick place. The route going up was completely packed, so no snowshoes required, but I would definitely advise to use crampons! It’s not easy nor hard, but it’s a good workout!

The left (North) loop was too snowy to hike safely even with chains so we choose the right (South) loop. Then when we came down we choose to explore Pretty Valley. The snow got thigh deep at the upper end of the trail.

Lost my GoPro on this hike:( Pretty easy hike though with a beautiful view! Quite a bit of snow when I went up, about a foot now.

Awesome walk with beautiful views throughout the way. I was expecting more of an ‘Ah’ moment once we reached the top with the lake before our decent.

Not the hike we expected. "Best used" through October is more than a suggestion. Once Brighton resort is open for the season, hikers need to take the "uphill route" on Milly Access / Lost Maid and then exit the Wren Hollow gate to out of bounds. We looped around Dog Lake and made it up to the overlook of Lake Mary. Didn't have any backcountry gear/beacons and definitely would have wanted them if we were to go any farther towards Lake Catherine.

Hiked it yesterday. Beautiful view, and it was nice to get above the inversion for a little bit. There are some ice spots, I used micro spikes for some parts, but they certainly not necessary.

Amazing everything with this one. It's steep at parts but worth every bit.

Love this hike, it’s so close and easy to get to. Parts of it are icy but I was able to manage only with hiking boots 12.11.18

Saw 2 moose on trail on way back down from Blanche at 8:45am. One got a little aggressive and charged a hiker coming up the trail, but did not make contact. Whoa! Heads up!

This is absolutely one my All Time favorite summits in Utah. I love it because it’s steep and relatively a short 3.3 mile to the top. My personal record to the summit stands at 1 hour 37 min and little under 41 mins to run back down to the trailhead. As of December 8th, I have summited Mt. Olympus 16 times in 2018.

Skinned up to desolations and skied Powder Park. Snow was phenomenal up top. The further down you went the crustier it was. Beautiful trail, quite a bit of snow up there.

Beautiful day on trail in the snow, handful of hikers. Spotted moose off trail, took nice photo. Hikers I bumped into reported 3 moose on trail and said a bull acted aggressive. Turned around .5 mile from top (not interested in bumping into aggressive bull so turned bag. Wore Salomon Speedcross GTX with gaiters and tights, was enough, brought poles. Did not need Microspikes, no ice, just new snow coming down today. Enjoy!

Fun little climb !

I followed the tracks of another kind soul who did the majority of the post-holing up to the summit.

Great views of Kesler to the South.

:-)

Took the huskies up past the closed winter gate all the way up to the Old Red Pine Trail thus adding another 9 miles to the journey.

The elevation gain is spread out very gradually, but yeah this is a long walk / run ...

At any rate, it's highly recommended ! Very secluded and plenty of room to think.

Murdock Peak offers excellent views overlooking Park City, Millcreek Canyon and across the Wasatch Range.

It’s a steep trail, and it can be difficult to follow at times, but as long you follow the river you’re ok. It’s a fun hike with pretty good views.

This is a great loop trail with no technical difficulties for 11 years old and normal adults. The scenic view at the meadow which is over G Mountain is really great!
