South side accent is very steep and difficult. North side is not near as steep.

This hike is rated as moderate, that is inaccurate. This is a hard , quite challenging hike. There is probably close to 1 full km of scramble to get to the top. I would definitely rate as hard.

Great trail, well maintained and lots of different path options. Shady and sunny spots.

1.5 hours up and down. Has good views and excellent features. Can be rather technical at points for the inexperienced. Definitely worth a trip during the Salmon Run, but good luck finding a parking spot! Watch for slippery flat rock surfaces. There are many flat features and on the downhill it can be a bit sketchy.
My dog took a spill, shes 4 and is new to the terrain and she had to be shown some routes and lifted up and down at points.

Beautiful place, pretty calm!

A good trail for getting out into the woods while in Victoria. This route takes you around the base and over the peak. Busiest by the peak and the gate, but can be quiet on the east side of the mountain.

Nice little jaunt up. Drove up almost to the tracks in my outback but the road got a bit too bumpy for my low vehicle. Took the road up and the trail down. No visibility as the clouds were moving in. But nice area. Next time I’ll park at the very bottom and make for a longer run.

I feel this trail is definitely moderate. Starts off easy and about 30 mins in the difficulty increases. I took Quimper Summit Trail on the way up and the way down took Quimper Connector and Sooke Mountain Trails and it took me just over 3 hours. I recommend hiking that route in that order as the quimper trail is a good hike and the sooke mountain trail looks like an old gravel road. The trails in my opinion follow a semidry stream/river bed so its quite rocky for a good portion of the hike but its very clear and easy to follow. There are trail markers everywhere you would need one and they are very clear with direction. Parts of the trail were submerged so prepare with good boots or to venture off the pathway! You dont need hiking poles but they were useful.

Beautiful, great stroll but it’s wet and muddy.even with rubber boots it was difficult in spots. I’d like to come back when it’s dry. Worth the spot to stretch the legs .

great hike with a ton of views. it was awesome to be able to get out on the rocks and watch the waves. a must in you're in the area!

Easy, great views of the falls

love the trail, the only down fall in my opinion was that dogs are allowed off leash. I have two dogs(that we leash) so I'm glad its dog friendly however I feel uneasy with other dogs off leash.

This was a fun little hike. I stayed near the university so I walked from there. I didn’t wind up doing the loop trail, I took a steeper shortcut that had some really beautiful views and a great overlook where I stopped for lunch. You can drive up to the top but you would totally miss out on some great scenery. Definitely a good payoff for such a short hike. Victoria is a lovey place.

Easy walking with, convenient access to the ocean.

The trail to keep following the river is apparently closed, not sure why, signs say “do not hike beyond this point” not sure if advisory or illegal, but the trail was fine, without that it’s a very short loop, good views of waterfalls tho

Beautiful views at the top and several viewpoints on your way. This trail is essentially all at an incline on your way up but otherwise not very technical. Make sure to bring hydration, and I would recommend bringing a small lunch too! Took us about 3 hours in all (including time taken to eat at the top).

Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a solid hike.

Beautiful fall afternoon made this a lovely hike. Great views.

Trail is well maintained and very easy to follow. Great views at the top

Amazing trees, easy walk. Wear waterproof shoes- lots of puddles and mud :)

Great little hike ! Awesome scenery ! Met lots of fun people. Took dog she really enjoyed it. Did fine on stairs and steel grate and bridge. If your pups bashful or scared of heights you might have to carry it !

Easy short walk ... nice super quiet suspension bridge for free (Capilano was expensive)

easy!

Easy walk on the waterfront. Paved. Great with kids, strollers and infant carriers.

The start of the trail is a gravel/dirt road. There's not much to see until you get off the Sooke mountain trail and transition over to the Juniper trail. It will roughly take 30-45 min to get off this road.

The incline is very consistent. It does get quite a bit steeper as you get closer to the peak. However this change in gradation is very short.

Great 360 degrees view at the summit!

Short, easy trail. Everytime someone comes to visit me in Port I take them here. The trees are ridiculously huge! Very well maintained and taken path.

Rain forest in Canada

Short loop but well maintained and beautiful views.

Massive 600-800 year old trees. Maybe 400 people in the tiny park, though. Always someone in front and in back of you. (Seemed like the smoke kept folks inside for the past few days and clear sky brought them out. )

I did notice a great diversity of people-- from kids, to handicapped to international folks.
