Well cut trail, family friendly - amazing view!

This was my first time snowshoeing. I had a great time. Yes this is a crowded trail with cross country skiers and snowshoers. But it’s also beginning level so of course there is traffic. With everyone going their own pace you do find moments of privacy. The trail was beautiful. Check it out just go early to dodge parking issues. I arrived around 8:45 on a Saturday morning and didn’t park too far from the trail head.

Easy hike, falls were beautiful. A little muddy but not too bad.

This is an ok trail. Not sure why others rate it so high. It’s practically a highway because their are so many people. We went to go snowshoeing. The snow was so packed down from all the people that we just took off our snowshoes and hiked. Parking is very difficult as well because there are so many cars. Go further out from the city. It’s worth it.

Early morning is key if you want to avoid the crowds, even in January. The falls are beautiful, and it's an easy mild hike. Trails are clear, a bit of mud here and there but not an issue if you're wearing proper footwear.
We explored the main trails and a couple side trails that were far less traveled. You can hear the highway pretty well unfortunately, and there were a few people with dogs off leash.

Went during the Government shutdown and had the place to ourselves!

By far my favorite stretch of road I've ever been on, ever!

I wanted to be impressed but honestly it’s not worth the drive. I followed Matt’s directions (listed below my review) not the all trail directions and found the trailhead fairly easily. The logging road does split off a couple times, however ~ just stay to the right and you will find it. The trail was nicely maintained and there were only a few hikers out. The Siletz River has some pretty cascading falls as you drive along the logging road. The trees are beautiful but as I’m an avid hiker and Oregon adventurer, I think there are hundreds of better options for a day trip.

Enjoyed the scenery and walking in the snow. When the app says the trail has heavy traffic that’s an understatement. It was like Walmart on Black Friday with one lane in and out of the sno-park because of so many cars parked on the side of the road. People and dogs everywhere; like the house chaos of Home Alone except outside.

The snow is too compact to actually snowshoe for realz. Just did it for funz!

Great little hike. Easy to get to, plenty of parking and the trail is packed so it’s easy to navigate. Fresh snow fell so all the trees are coated and the lake is gorgeous. Definitely worth the drive from Tacoma.

awesome scenery, i wouldn't stop at the Shrine drive thru tree again tho

Came prepared for the snow, wasn't expecting all the rain. Despite only having water-resistant clothing (and being soaked-to-the-bone when done), this trail was perfect for a quick, easy, and beautiful snowshoeing fix! From the road, it was about a half mile walk to reach the pond. Quite a few people out making the trek to the pond, but had the trail around Gold Creek Pond completely to ourselves. Gorgeous views and plenty peaceful. Only issue to report has been addressed by other reviewers. There were a lot of folks with dogs out there and a lot of waste left behind scattering the trail up to the pond.

Nice, easy loop to break in some new snowshoes. Fairly crowded and the messy parking situation notwithstanding, it's an ok way to enjoy some the snow and mountains.

Long rugged road, all wheel drive and ground clearance recommended. Plan on an hour drive from Falls City, it’s relatively easy to find though. From Falls City take Bridge Street and essentially stay on the road from pavement to large gravel road to small single lane logging road. At the road marker “100” turn right and follow till you see the tiny brown road marker with “vog” for Valley if the Giants, it’s about .5 miles from the sign to the trailhead. Phenomenal short hike through pristine native forest. Definitely worth it.

Good easy to little moderate hike with view of river and waterfalls. Waterfall was gushing with water. Enjoyed soaking in mist water at upper Lookout view point.

Nice hike with a great view of the falls. Trails were muddy 2/3 in, but worth the walk. Pup enjoyed too.

Gorgeous views, moderate hike

It was a nice late afternoon drive with a dusting of snow at elevation. Drove this in an H3, but there were plenty of cars that easily made the trip.

Amazing trip! The scenery was off the charts! Please note that there is no fishing along the route.

Was looking for any easy hike to enjoy the PNW and the snow. Wasn’t too crowded when we started but more people arrived mid day. Some spots were icy so we stayed to the side of the trail. As a dog owner of two, I find it sad to see other dog owners not picking up after their dogs.

Hiked this trail mid day Saturday and for the 4 hours it took me to finish I didn’t see one other hiker. Definitely a plus and the waterfall is beautiful

Busy trail on a Sunday, but the views of the river and falls were well worth it.

on Twin Falls Trail

A good 3.7 mile hike round trip to the Twin and Upper Falls. The trail is well maintained and its a good workout as the trail is inclined for the most part. Be prepared for a number of steps. Good resting spots and a nice bridge to view the falls. I rated the trail 4* since there wasn’t anything too scenic or breathtaking sceneries at the end of the trail or on the way. Good workout and a refreshing break if you are looking for a quick drive from Seattle.

I came out for novice snowshoeing and was disappointed to realize that not only was this location VERY crowded with loud children and off-leash dogs, there was someone flying a very loud drone over and over the lake. The trail itself would be an alright paved loop, but the mediocre scenery coupled with the overt lack of courtesy by others on the trail made this a very lackluster experience. This was like driving 40 miles to have the same experience I'd have in a crowded city park. I absolutely would not come here again.

beautiful, just very busy trail!

This is a beautiful hike.

I did this hike 2 months ago. Trail is well kept. Pet friendly and just gorgeous spot to visit.

Loved backpacking this trail. I did this over three days and two nights. Beautiful views and very peaceful. I loved hearing the waves crash all day (and night). Do your planning and research about trip logistics and high/low tide times. Backpacking in the sand was challenging at first, but I got used to it after a few hours. July 2018.
