has a little bit of everything. i love this trail

Loved this trail, great views and a couple nice waterfalls at the end of the trail! Plan on going back more often.

One of my favorite hiking places in Central Florida. So much to see out there. In the summer, you can graze on fox grapes, blackberries, high Bush blueberries and sparkle berries along the trails. Often see turkey, wild pigs, deer, bald eagles, and more on some of the less travelled trails. My daily hikes out there helped me lose 60 lbs in 6 months!

A wonderful rush where there’s plenty of shade and a few long stretches of sun. Bring plenty of water if you’re going the whole way ! I had a good time jogging through, hope everybody else does as well

my favorite place in Texas <3 great views and easy trails. plenty of places to cool off too.

Just an easy breezy walk. Plenty of shade and pretty trees to look at. Great place for children to walk and get out.

In my opinion, this is the prettiest park for hiking in Central Florida. there are many trials, and you can pick trails that give you the distance you would like to hike. There's a lot of wildlife around and the views of the Econ River are sometimes stunning. During the summer, some of the trails can become flooded, restricting the amount of hiking you can do.

Great place to hike in and camp, lots of great sites and trees down to find for firewood, but none blocking the trails, very sandy and all natural trails. Sunset was fantastic with wildlife, lots of birds, some gators heard at night, but not seen in day. Folllows along the river most of the trails I've travelled, so very beautiful scenery. Very peaceful and quiet once away from the road sounds, which doesnt take long. No unsavory characters encountered on my trips, 5 so far. My only issue is the bridge to the flagler loop has been down since last year, still not yet fixed at my last trip in March, otherwise it's 5 stars. No facilities at the Barr Street trailhead, not sure about the other. Looking forward to coming again soon.

The entire New River Trail stretches for a total of 57 miles. Foster Falls seems to be about mid point between Fries VA pronounced Freeze. The Northern stretch from Foster Falls to Dora Junction (Draper VA) is a 4% grade going up and from Foster Falls to Fries is a 4% uphill trek. My wife and I did the trail in two legs. Fries to Foster Falls 4% grade going down and the northern start of the trail at Dora Junction going down 4% all the way to Foster Falls. It is a beautiful trail to experience lined with breadth taking views of the New River, many old railroad trestle's to cross with a tunnel to go through as well. Foster Falls host a Welcome Center with State run facilities since it is a state park. Primitive camping is available at the Foster Falls Park site as well as designated primitive sites along the trail. The Mercantile in Draper VA has a livery shop where bikes can be rented if only a portion of the trail catches your interest. From Draper to Hiwassee where one of the most picturesque views of the New River can be seen on top of an old railroad trestle that crosses the river. If you are fortunate enough you just might see a trail angel that frequents the trail from time to time. The New River Trail is one of the greatest outdoor recreation activity you will find in the state of VA that offers hiking, biking or horse backing it.

There was so much trash. Very sad

Lots of rain on the Makua side today. Kuaokala was muddy and slippery but nothing major. Makua Valley was socked in but cleared up after 20 minutes. Bring water and a snack. 7.2 on my Suunto.

Hurricane Irma took its toll. The Flagler bridge is closed and the canopy is not quite what it was. The footing is much sandier. But then nature is what it is and being out in it is always a joy.

Great changes in elevation. Well maintained.

Great for a day hike, nice swimming near by, beautiful scenery. There are some areas with water, large boulders, and rock climbing as well. Love this park!

Nice hike the best views are when you are on the swtichbacks. Otherwise it is a nice stroll through shaded roads. The medium rating is probably merited, but families with older children should be able to handle this trail nicely. Take lots of water as it can get hot and there is now water on the trail.

Loved this!!! Lots of water yesterday. I definitely want to return with my bike when it dries out some. On the snake train I was knee deep.... there was no other way except turning around. I watched two people come through it before I did.

Love the waterfall

Trying to find the old tractors that are here somewhere!

Rode this trail a few years after the rails were removed and before all the trail work. Even with a few tunnels missing and a bridge or two missing. It's still a great ride in one of the most beautiful rail routes of the west.

Great hike! Wear waterproof shoes for the foreseeable future because a few areas were tough to pass without getting wet. We hiked from Barr to the bridge and it was a hot day but stayed shaded and not too hot.

Love this trail, great for families with little ones

Great trail! We loved the different elevations, it allowed us to see some incredible views. Majority of the trail is shaded which allows you to enjoy the hike even in the hot summer days. There was also different lookout spots to capture some awesome views of the lake.

6/17/2018-Started around 0700 and encountered 23 groups/solo hikers. (Most of them we’re on their way in while we were on our way out.) The path has been improved in some sections since the last time we hiked out here (new concrete was poured) and overall weather was good. (Albeit not sunny, but overcast with a breeze.) There were a few semi-muddy sections but those were easy to navigate.

so let's all get together and clean it up!
