Great hike. Looking forward to returning.

If you go right at the start there's a nice .75 miles with a lot of elevation although not too steep - a couple gradual switcbacks. the rest is mostly flat and beautiful terrain. no bluffs, no streams, although a nice Creek at the end.

a mini favorite ..great for a quick brisk mostly shady walk when you have only a little time

Went here on a whim and DID NOT REGRET IT. Drove the quick hour drive from St. Louis and got right to it. NO BATHROOM AVAILABLE AT TRAIL HEAD.

My friend and I absolutely loved climbing on everything! Every corner was a new view and adventure. I cannot wait to go back!!

I really wanted to enjoy this trip with my family. I took my two kids (3 and 8) and while it was great to get them out into the woods. The trail was more of a deer path than a family friendly trail. I’m going to go and hike it on my own. But it is certainly not kid appropriate.

Did this one with my niece. Way way too many spider webs

just right distance for hiking for seniors

Beautiful trail! My dog loved playing in all the water and there are some amazing views when you get to the top of the rocks! However the trail is very poorly marked and I probably would've been lost for awhile if I hadn't have downloaded the map to my phone. We will definitely be back!

nice! lots of spider webs...watch your step. I will be wearing hiking boots and fully covered..blue jean trail.. I started yellow..ended dogwood..narrow hiking trails where hikers only are permitted.. and came to the broken bridge...had to pull myself up and out in a not easy way... Lol..
fix the bridge please...more hikers makes easy to follow trails.. need of love.. it is a lovely place! :)

Loved this trail. Lots to see and explore. Very rocky but hey what's a trail adventure if it's flat and smooth... I will be back had a blast!

After reading several reviews, I decided to pick up the trail at the equestrian parking lot and hike CW. There is an access point located down a wide gravel road that starts between the restrooms and the pavilion. That road deadends fairly quickly and you can pickup the trail there where you see the vertical trail post with a blue eagle icon on it.

I utilized the St Louis County parks map which shows the trail to be 3.6 miles long which agrees with the trailhead signage over at the visitor center where I essentially completed the loop. (After the Visitors Center parking lot you just cross Scenic Loop Road next to Allenton Road and you are back at the equestrian parking lot). The entire hike took less than 1.5 hours.

I didn't notice any blazes marking the trail but any forks where this trail met other trails were clearly marked with a signpost and the appropriate icons and arrows.

The trail is pleasant. Going either CW or CCW means that you start at the top of a ridge and descend into a valley. CW seemed to me to be the easier direction in retrospect. The Eagle Valley Trail interconnects with other trails so you could make a longer day of it if you wish.

My hike was on Sunday, August 5th and I probably encountered three pairs of horse riders, two groups of mountain bikers, and three pairs of fellow hikers. The area was dry and I did not encounter any running or standing water anywhere.

I wish I could give it 3.5 stars as it is a decent trail but I'm not likely to do this one again unless I was camping in the area.

By the way, ticks did not seem to be a problem with the generally wide trail and little undergrowth to brush up against.

Nice trail overall. Not very well marked, except at intersecting trails. Rough terrain at some points. Nice and secluded. Mostly wooded. A one-way road runs along for a big part of it. Good trail to get away from the city for a few hours.

Nice walking trail. Saw some butterflies and enjoyed the little signs describing the plants.

Nice trail! We took our small dog and had no troubles. the trails are marked well at the creek crossings. as I go along the trail you will creeks, a small water fall (that is a perfect place to take break.), and the trail goes along the bluffs at one point.

Steep stair climb at first. Looks like folks get to the west lookouts for the good views then turnaround and head back down. After the west view the trail was very overgrown to where you couldn’t see it. So we turned around and went back down. We might revisit another time of year.

Tried to ride Stately Trail. Found the trailhead easily enough but 50 feet into the woods and the trail disappears. No markings anywhere.

This park is great for easy bike riding ! Beautiful and interesting! There’s even soft drink vending and rest rooms

Wonderful wooded trail with a couple of glades. The waterfall was dry as expected for August in Missouri. The loop trail descends toward the waterfall and then ascends back to the trailhead and is extremely rocky so ankle support is recommended. There are a couple of scenic overlooks including one that looks at the new Ameren Upper Reservoir that was built to replace the one that failed in 2005.

First good hike of the year and it was great. my 4 year old went and made it on her own most of the way!

Hike this with my husband and 4 young sons ages 6-11. We LOVED this hike even though the falls were dry. The views are amazing. I would suggest to being extra water if you plan on staying. We were there 4 hours and each drank 5 bottles of water because of the incline and the amount of playing we did at the falls. Overall great hike! You will need good shoes and keep going till you get to the end. Hiked in August.

Museum is great, hike is nice but don't feel like you need to do it to see everything.

Close to home, paved so good for strollers. Good river view. enough hills for a decent workout!

One of my girlfriend and I's favorite place to go :) Lots of views and you can see alot of deer on the lower levels. highly recommend for anyone, friendly for all ages

We have hiked this trail in years past and I truly do not remember it being so poorly marked. It is really easy to get off the trail. While I enjoy exploring, I had not planned for such a long trip out. Next time I will be sure to pack more water. A positive is that this trail is the first one my 2 year old son started hiking on his own. Definitely beautiful with lots to see, but might not be for all little people. We did end up carrying him quite a bit as we were off on lots of non-trail paths. Saw a few abandoned strollers from past hikers... definitely don't bring your strollers. Happy we had this app and were able to rescue a few other hiking groups when we had coverage. Download the map!!

First hike, great experience! Panoramic views. We started at the east and ascended via the stairs. They are well maintained and really get the blood pumping. A few more inclines made for a great hike. Cooled down with the Meramec river trail.

First 1/4 to 1/2 mile a little tough but rest of trail easy enjoyable

Second review of this trail! Last one was during the dry season, which I gave a 4/5. During the wet season it gets a 5/5 because the waterfall is actually there and is beautiful!
Also I didn't miss the sharp turn this time and got to see a bit of the trail that I didn't last time lol

we really enjoyed this hike. we went on July 23. it's very pretty, lots of creeksnand streams both big and small. there is a pretty waterfall about halfway through. you do have to cross water multiple times, there is rocks at all the crossing to walk on but there's a good possibility of getting your feet wet. at the waterfall half way through there Is a trail following the creeks that you can take to get closer to it. can be a little steep but the terrain isn't bad. we had a fun time on this hike.
