An excellent hike with plenty of elevation change and challenge. One of the best hikes in the park. The lookout tower is unbelievable. Views in every direction for MILES! That was excellent.

I have seen other places and talked to other hikers who have rated the loop trail as strenuous. It definitely is exhausting if you walk up the steep side from the lower trailhead parking area. The views are amazing and well worth the effort. If you can go up the steep side do it. I'd rather have the long gentle slope going back down than try to negotiate down the steep steps.

Absolutely so beautiful. A huge gorgeous water fall, beautiful view of the side of Stone Mountain and beautiful nature trials in between.

We started on the Jomeoke trail (picks up behind rest room) and joined up with ledge springs trail. Almost felt like we were doing the route backwards but it was a good strenuous hike, beautiful views and lots of wildlife. Great hike and I can’t wait to return in the fall to do it again when the leaves are changing

Good endurance hike. I liked it because it wasn't too close to any big touristy areas resulting in a decreased number of yuppies.

Challenging and scenic! Amazing overlooks. Nice for a high paced workout.

Great trail with spectacular views. I think this should be marked as strenuous. Definitely recommend taking the summit direction first, not the waterfall first like I did. It was so easy the first 2 miles by the falls then I got to the summit and nearly couldn't make it up. So worth it though!

Amazing waterfall, quick & easy to get to from visitor center. Continued on the loop, the summit was AMAZING, so beautiful, so many places to sit & chill on the side of the stone mtn. Worth the hour & a half ride to get there. The trail was shady, breezy, & not too terrible

The first 30-45 minutes of this one was a good workout. The scenery was awesome. I’d like to go back and do this one for time. It’s a good challenge but the views are worth it.

I didn't die

The best hiking is done on these trails and the Grindstone. Best views in the park.

Basic woodsy hike. Fairly easy without crowds.

A somewhat lengthy woodsy hike. Less hiked than many of the other trails. Nice and quiet.

Pretty basic woodsy hike from the Corridor Trail parking area on Hauser Rd. to the Yadkin River where it intersects with the Bean Shoals Canal Trail. Encountered a beautiful green snake and a sizable black rat snake on this trail.

This is a neat trail. There are signs with information posted on them throughout the trail. The information describes the plant life you'll encounter as well as some of the wildlife you could encounter. The possibility of seeing bald eagles along the river section is exciting. I'll likely come back during nesting season to try and see and photograph the eagles. Horne Creek was larger and prettier than I had expected at one of the crossings.

Great Trail! 600+ steps going up and great view at the lookout point. Steady and patience is needed going down. Well worth it!

Started at the old parking lot went straight up the mountain 1/2 way up thought I was going to die I've never seen so many steps. After getting to the top it was all well worth it glad I did it

Great trail also went camping here a few years ago it was snowy and windy got down to -20° But I loved the experience. Trail is beautiful and scenic and strenuous but was well worth it. also be carful near the summit there is alot of slippery rock I almost slid off myself. keep a good footing and stay safe!

Amazing trail ! was very nicely maintained and beautiful.. can't wait to talk this trail again.

The value/difficulty of this trail depends on which route you take and your physical condition. An average person should find this quite doable, but not easy. It’s not technical, just a lot of elevation change.

Coming from the lake parking lot, if you take the route to the right (shorter by 0.7 miles) its all stone steps and constant climbing for 1.8 miles to the summit. A helluva workout, wider trail, but no real payoff until you reach the top.

Alternatively, take the longer route (2.5 miles to the top) to the left and its a much more enjoyable hike. Yes, it still has some climb to get you to the top, but no stairs until the last 50yds. Kids would have more fun going this way, too. Certainly an easier route. You will encounter multiple rock outcroppings and great vistas (slightly off trail) of the north and northwest, even grabbing a view of the Sauratowns and Pilot Mountain. Moving at a pretty leisurely pace, you can reach the summit in just over an hour or so.

Coming back down, you will have to decide to retrace your steps, or take the other part of the trail you didn’t come up. Watch your step on the stone steps...loose gravel can catch you off guard.

Not a bad 2 mile loop to warm your legs and get the blood flowing. I would assume it is steep for the area and if you are new to hiking outside the city parks.

Not worth the hike. It has stairs which makes it harder, but I don’t believe the views make up for the intense hike.

Great hike! We started at upper parking area and then went counter clockwise (right at the chimney) to the summit side, then down to the view side. We finished by adding the in & out to lower falls (first) and middle falls on the way back. Taking our time for lots of photos and dipping our feet in the middle falls (so refreshing!) the entire trip took about 5 hours. Got lucky to see the rhododendrons blooming along the river on the view side. Take lots of water, fairly strenuous just due to the elevation changes. You will finish coming straight up 330 man made steps. Amazing views!

Did some climbing and hiking here. Really enjoyed the location and routes. Tones of great routes from trad to sport to TR. some nice 90’ routes and all levels of difficulty. Was pretty when we headed there on a Sunday afternoon, though still plenty of routes open to climb. Can’t wait to go back. Easy parking, cold working fountains, bathrooms and well maintained bolts and anchors.

Absolutely beautiful views! Strenuous with lots of stairs, my Apple watch tracked 50 flights that we climbed. We started at the upper parking lot, walked down to the falls, visited the historic Hutchinson property and back up the trail to the parking lot. Trail very well marked. Will definitely go back, we loved it!

Love it! Go several times per year. Not easy but not too hard. Good cardio hike. The view is so worth it !

Great views!

This was a wonderful hike, definitely strenuous in places. We started at the Upper Parking area and took a right at the chimney. Hike to the summit was moderate... it was very steep coming down. Took a break at the Lower Parking area then continued the hike to Stone Mountain Falls. Beautiful views. The last leg back to the upper lot had a lot, and I mean a lot of steps. Great workout!

Did this hike today, took the long way up (not the stairs), it was a hard hike for me, but was very enjoyable and got a good work out. Once we got up there it poured down raining and wasn't able to see view. I would do this again.

Great trail!
