Awesome!!!! Nobody was there. (on a Sunday afternoon). Keep in mind it's a dirt path off the main road and there's a lot of ditches. When you park, you walk for about a quarter off a mile, then you start going down hill.

It was a good hike except for the fact that I saw THREE coyotes throughout the four miles. To be honest, I’m not exactly sure whether they were all coyotes. Two of them could’ve been grey foxes. Either way, each encounter left me feeling uneasy. The first one I encountered was small and it quickly ran away when it saw my dog and I. The second one (about a mile later) stood its ground and did not move even after I made loud noises to try to scare it off. Then as we were finishing up Miners Trail , I heard what sounded like a barking dog. As I looked around to see if there was a lost dog around I realized it was yet another coyote! I will come with larger group next time and better educate myself on what to do if I spot other wild animals on the trails.

The hike was beautiful. I brought my dog and there were tons of ticks on him. This is definitely an intermediate hike. The way back was a bit of a challenge since it’s mostly uphill but the views made it worth it.

December on this trail is awesome. No one around, but still able to make out the path. Waterfall is iced over but scrambling up it wasn’t too bad. Really enjoyed the peace and different falls you hit as you climb.

it was a great snowy winterland. it was a wonderful trek and not to long. it is also pretty well marked except after the waterfall. then it got tricky so I decided not to continue and headed back down.

It was a beautiful and fun easy hike. It has great views of the lake. if you are short on time and want a beautiful hike this is the one. you first walk through the trees then eventually along the mountain. Mid hike it gets rocky so just be aware of your stepping. We went Thanksgiving weekend and the river was flowing but just not at full capacity. I would want to do this hike again in the Spring to see the river when the snow melts. but overall it was a beautiful hike!

Beautiful trail. We didn’t find it physically challenging but it was a little mentally challenging for me (I’m scared of heights) as we hiked the middle section along the ridge. Beautiful views of the Santa Cruz Mts and Monterey Bay. Highly recommend.

Trail was easy to follow. The waterfall was running nice due to the recent snow/rain fall. Had a couple decent photo ops. Overall, if you’re a beginner, you won’t find this trail too difficult.

Went on a Saturday, and saw about a dozen other people throughout our hike. We got lost because a tree had fallen shortly after the difficult crossing (you'll know it when you get there), and it covered the path. We ended up on the mountain biking path for awhile, and then circled back towards the beginning. We had plenty of time, so we did the hike again to see where we'd gone wrong. After the tough crossing, make sure you stay to the left, along the side of the canyon.

It's a pretty easy trail otherwise. Not too much elevation gain, and some really lovely views. It wasn't cold at all when we went. The lady bugs were incredible. We brought our dog, and she had a blast.

Amazing hike!

one of my favorites

hiked last spring befor the snow melted an i could go farther up the hill this tral will make you go for the hills

The loop is significantly different from one side to the other. The right side trail while going from the parking to the campground is safer than the other. Staying on the left side trail going from the parking to the campground will take through the Castle Rock Falls and most part of this trail is on the edge of steep slope and through narrow crevices between rocks but gives fantastic views. We used one side going to the campground and another side returning to the parking lot.

Rocky start, possibly ankle rolling. Very pretty. Pretty easy hike for a moderate but I don’t really know how they grade here! Lots of dogs!! People are nice.

It was good hiking for a few hours to see the nice view. Relax and fresh there

Loved it. Great views. A good amount of uphill climbing on the way up to Eagle Lake but well worth it!

Def intermediate. Did this hike in the beginning of Nov. Unfortunately, the cave was occupied with a mountain lion, who was coming towards us with a growl, as i approached inside with the flashlight. After getting to the bottom of the river, we hiked further up for about another 30min. There were no other hikers seen

This is a wonderful easy hike that is easy to access. Getting to the falls is pretty easy until you get very close, then the trail becomes a little unclear. Even so, just keep going straight and you will see where the falls are. Right now the water is barely moving. Would love to come back and check this out after a snow melt!

Amazing views all around, watch your step, & keep your kids away from the mountain edge, lots of slippery loose rocks. Parking is sheer luck if you get one. So much beauty here, enjoy!

Great trail for families. Kids loved climbing the rocks. Beautiful views.

5 stars for beautiful family trail but had to only give 3 because waaaay too crowded

nice hike, uphill, theres a cute bridge for pictures & leads you to the lake

great view, kids and dog friendly, the lake is an amazing meditation place

I’m always looking for trails to take our horses on and this is not one of them. Mostly an easy hike with the exception of 2-3 granite areas that would be nearly impossible on horses. Too many hikers for my likes as well.

There is nothing moderate about this hike! It’s definitely an easy one! Perfect for trail running and great for dogs with water along the way and plenty of shade. Reward of beautiful lake at the end! Highly recommend.

I loved this trail. Very well maintained and there were informational signs (Ecology, geology facts) at most of the switchbacks. There was snow at the end of the trail; you had to cross it to get to the peak, but it was easy. Would definitely do this again. I was there in August 2018 and it was smoky, you could just barely see the top of Mount Shasta peaking out from a layer of smoke.

Easy trail even a non hiker can handle this one, it’s on a paved fire road almost the entire way

This is a good trail to build up your stamina, it’s not super long but definitely a workout, in my opinion the most difficult way up Mt Hood

easily accessible
