This was an incredible hike! Great workout and spectacular views. At a brisk pace and with about 2 mi of trail running on the way back, it took us around 3 hours to get to the top of Peaked Mountain and back to the parking lot. Closer to 8 miles, not 6.2. If you’re planning to climb to the top and not turn around at the pond, know that the last section should be rated difficult and the hike overall is moderate not easy in my opinion.

A word of warning. This is a beautiful walk along Peaked Mt. Brook to the Pond. The Easy rating is appropriate here. But the trail up from the pond has steep rocky sections. It is enjoyable and the views make it worth the effort but it does require effort.

So very beautiful! Wish I had taken my fishing pole but glad I remembered the bug spray. A good mix of semi level trail (always beware the rocks and roots that are out to trip you) and of a little bit more difficult rocky areas. Would definitely do again!

Hiked from garnet lodge, will admit was confusing to get to the trail. Hike short and sweet and was surprised by the awesome views for such a short hike. Can easily be done by kids and beginners.

Everything you could want in a hike! Long enough to give yourself a real workout with a good deal of challenging climbing. Breathtaking scenery and variation in environment.

13th lake is such a scenic sight for the first 0.9 miles or so. Then a peaceful stream with a few small waterfalls borders your hike right after this. Then it's a pleasant walk in the woods, along with a few marshes. Your penultimate destination is the Peaked Mountain Pond, which is so serene and clear. Perfect to catch a catnap or lunch. The hike to Peaked Mountain from the pond will likely take you roughly 30-45 minutes, depending on your fitness and pace. We took our time and it took us 40 minutes from the pond.

The summit is a gem. 180 degree views, with multiple viewing points. The pond that you came from is below you, along with a small glimpse of 13th lake, Gore Mountain, and other peaks in the distance.

The hike is around 7-7.5 miles rather than 6.2. Also, while it would more appropriately be labeled as moderate in my opinion, still a great and very accessible hike if you are in at least decent shape and have hiked in the Adirondacks before. Our party had a total hiking time of 5 hours, with 1 hour for lunch and pictures.

not a personal favorite. But a nice enough one to try once.

Hiked this yesterday morning from the Garnet Hill Lodge Ski Shack. Nice easy trail through the GHL property to State Land. Trail up the hill was pretty tame and in great shape. There was no blow down and only a few muddy spots. The view from the top was spectacular. We stopped at GHL for lunch, what a treat. This would be a great family hike.

Done this many times over the years but find the trail itself a tad boring. The lake is beautiful though and worth the lack of excitement the trail itself brings. Definitely rate as "easy".

I would say it slightly harder than moderate. Pretty short as well. I would call it short cardio session

great hike! nice views!

Great moderate hike...completed loop within 2 hours with a stop for some meditation by the lake. Start at small parking lot of Route 55 follow blue blaze to white Appalachian Trail blaze. Lake loop trail is a yellow blaze...trails are quite easy to follow.

Great hike❤

Beautiful path through the woods to Nuclear Lake. Nice vigorous hike - not overly challenging

This wooded hike was rewarding in the end with a solemn and serene view! Took my DH and I about 50 minutes to ascend and about the same to descend. The main picture for this trail was not the view we experienced but maybe that would be seen taking the other trail (took Old Farm Rd.). Since this is a wooded hike, it would be more enjoyable to revisit this in the Summer for the moving and less slippery creek flows or the Fall for the picturesque foliage! If you plan to do this hike anytime soon/this Winter, wear microspikes or waterproof boots with good tread - dried leaves can be deceiving! ;-)

great climb along the brook with many cascades. BUT the trail from the pond to the summit is not "easy" moderate at best. certainly worth the effort.

Great views, beautiful lake, well marked trails. Moderate hike for sure but worth making the entire loop.

Nice hike very nice lake

Spotted Bald Eagle as we approached the lake. Took off and flew across the lake MAJESTIC. Wouldn’t call it a difficult hike more like a hard walk but if you do the entire loop it’s good. Views are nice and plenty of ducks. I will go back for a shot at seeing the Eagle

Nice hike. Steep only for the last 1/4 mile or so which does require a little scrambling. Multiple stream crossings, ponds and a great view at the open rock summit.

love the 13th lake area, brought our Akita with us and he loves being able to get a fresh drink the majority of the hike, you can get a great view of the high peaks from a distance but, it needs to be a clear day, was a little windy on top but, that's to be expected would highly recommend this hike, good little burn, and great payoff, recommend basil and wicks great burgers and the beer isn't bad either

This hike is beautiful; peeks of river, winding paths, but due to the steep/scrambling end; I would not call this an easy hike. Views at the top are incredible and worth it.

It was absolutely beautiful didn't have enough time to go around the lake next time did not come across any snakes Beautiful view on the lake

I don't know why this hike is considered difficult. We've hiked in many times including snow shoe trips in winter. Recently hiked with young parents carrying a year old daughter without any effort. Wonderful views of 13th Lake. A senior citizen hiker.

We did this trip several years ago. The last bit is difficult, but the top views are spectacular and well worth the effort.

The trail is well marked. The trail could use a little brushing back in spots, but it's not that tight. The segment to the summit is quite steep, but there are plenty of handholds and compared to other trails in the ADKs is not extreme. There is significant erosion so I would not attempt in rain--as of yesterday the muddy areas and stream crossings were fine. Bottom line--views were completely worth it as was cooling off in 13th lake at the conclusion.

The view from the summit was great. VERY steep at the end! The trail was overgrown in some spots.

It's a very long but easy nature walk at first. My group was unsure where the mountain we were climbing even was at first since the walk from the parking lot was so long. Get ready to cross a lot of streams and waterfalls on the way! The last three quarters of a mile were a challenge once we finally reached the mountain but the views were SUPER worth it at the peak. Beautiful Adirondack wilderness for miles.

Fun trail!

This trail is just about 8 miles long from the trailhead to the summit. The view was nice but the rough terrain, narrow trail (constantly rubbing against brush), and sheer amount of bugs didn't make it worth it for me. Also the last .8 miles was the steepest I've ever done so I can't imagine why this trail is rated as 'easy'.

Really easy trail
