Although this hike says moderate it is fairly easy. Fun for the whole family! We had our lunch inside the cave (pick up your trash) which was amazing. Beware the rocks are slippery!

Park ranger in the gift shop is RUDE! do not let him discourage you from this great hike.

good luck.

Although this hike is easy, take plenty of water. Beware rocks are slippery. So beautiful and calm.

Park ranger in the gift shop is rude but dont let him discourage you.

The trail head isn't well marked, but once you make your way through the woods to the trail it is a great hike. The weather was perfect and everything was green from the recent rains. You could smell the pine trees and hear the wind blow through the tree tops. There are are a couple of loops so pay close attention as you hit the fifth mile or you might miss the turn back up the mountain like we did. It's okay though, half the fun of any journey is getting wittle side tracked along the way to chase a squirrel or two.

absolutely loved this Trail. A little more traffic than I thought it would have especially in July. Make sure you have plenty of water -there is no reliable water on the trail. I repeat- bring plenty of water, a cover for your head, and long sleeves. don't feel like I need to say it but make sure you bring sunscreen. The trail is pretty easy to follow there's one place within a mile up, go to your right although theTrail looks like it should go on the left-- that's the only hiccup

Fantastic view of a Canyon
Same view than Antelope and nobody on the pictures !

Helpful info: go early! At 5:30 am there was a locked gate 1.2 miles before the parking lot. Not sure what time they open it every day but I still got to the trailhead by 5:50 and the walk was spectacular in August. You’ll be in the shade of the mountain the whole way up. Views are awesome.

We did the full 11 mike loop. Gorgeous and easy to follow the trail. So many mosquitos! TONS. I’ll be back when there are no mosquitos! Hike wasn’t too hard. We hiked it clockwise ...about 5.5hrs with breaks

This is also known as Shaman Cave! Loved this trail and the view is Absolutely Amazing! Do not turn off of 525C like the directions instruct you to do...follow 525C to 9530 and take that directly to the trail head. A 4x4 or higher vehicle is a must for the last half mile or so and there are a couple spots to park at the beginning of 9530 if you can’t make the drive up to the trailhead but it adds at least 1.5mi to the overall hike. Once at the trailhead, it is marked with piled up rocks...make sure you look for the rocks or you end up like I did on another tail going 2 miles in the wrong direction. it’s a short hike and easy .... I you wish to go to the cave....the small ledge can make some nervous. Totally worth the drive and the beautiful views are AMAZING!!!!!

You think you’re at the top. You in fact are not.

Great workout! Love the elevation gain and the remarkable scenery from the trail. at top is only a hundred and eighty degree visibility. Brush and trees cover the top facing Sedona but you can see Thunder Mountain Through the trees if you work at it and scrape your legs up in the brush.

Beautiful trail. Well marked just follow the white arrows on the rocks. It’s a workout but the views at the top are gorgeous!

We have 4 kids- 9, 7, 6, and 2. The bigger kids could do most of it all on their own. A few times we had to hold their hand but they loved it. There are a few cooler spots with small streams to play in. Beautiful scenery. The 2-year-old had to be held most of the time and passed between my wife and me, but we made it.

feels a lot longer than 4-5 miles. amazing veiws of Sedona and Mingus and the surrounding area up towards the top. The trail itself it very beautiful and would be well worth the hike even without the views. It is more tiring than you would think given the distance, so plan accordingly

Great trail. Be careful on the last hairpin switchback. I nosed in, reversed down the trail 150 feet or so to the next switchback which left me pointing forward again and did not require making a somewhat gnarly 3 point turn. Otherwise, the trail is pretty spectacular. I was in a stock 4x4 2018 tacoma and made it no problem. Did scrape my side predator side steps a couple times, but no big deal.

Great hike. Might be hard for young children.

Awesome hike with a beautiful "rain forest" in the desert.

One of our absolute favorite hikes in the Prescott Area!

Took my dog here and overall it was a nice hike with plenty to see, we got to about the 7 mike mark after Sycamore Falls and got lost. The trail was clearly marked and I think because of the excess of water (due to rain) we got turned around. Luckily the road was only about 2 miles from us so we found our way back

Went early and that helped with the heat. Very well marked trail.

I would not call this a hiking trail, more like boulder climbing all the way to the bridge. I hike three times a week and this is not moderate, I would give this a very hard rating. There was no enjoyment for me taking this route to the bridge. This may be enjoyable for some people, just be prepared if you decide to go here. Also, be very careful when you get to the bridge, very slippery and dangerous rocks. If you are going there to see the bridge I would recommend the Gowan trail, short and steep. It is very beautiful there, but I will not be going back.

Definitely bring lots of water, sunscreen and hat! Great views! Took us about 4 hrs round trip.

This hike was challenging but definitely worth it! There are a few false peaks and not much to see on the way up. But on the way down the views are worth it! Not much of a view at the top but it was fun to explore. I can’t wait to hike this again in the fall!

Did this trail today and had a great time. My quad struggled in the cold air/elevation but still made it. Rocks are sharp but my 4 ply tires held up well. You have to take this trail slow but it was worth it to get to the end. Stock 4x4 will be a close call while anything lifted will do fine. Quads and dirt bikes can handle this.

Great trail climb. You don’t really know that you’re climbing till the trail pulls back on itself and you see the valley. Amazing views. There is a lot of loose rock and shale on the trail.

The road to get to the trails is easy to miss. I came during mudslide season. The road is currently damaged, and signs warn that this road is impassable when wet. Emergency response is slow. Plan your trip outside of the rainy season, know the weather, and know this area is proceed at your own risk.

Great trail for beginners or seasoned hikers. Great scenery and away from the city heat of Phoenix.
