Awesome hiking place, must to go!

Love this trail for training like hill repeats. Good for training for races like Spartan.

new county policy you must have a reservation to park booked in advance. also they charge for the reservations. they pay park rangers to stand out and collect the money.

beautiful hike

As an amateur hiker, I found this moderately challenging but satisfying. Lots of incline but with a wonderful view. It was a beautiful scenic route and heavily shaded. Terrain was a bit loose in some areas so the correct shoes for this hike is essential. Parking was a bit confusing and I think we began at the wrong end as we started decline end first. I would not bring my children here however there was a family with small children. Overall, one of my favorites so far, definitely one to do again (in the the spring, when there’s more water)

Go early. Start at Stinson Beach to Muir Woods. Reward yourself with the beach at the end. It’s beautiful. Excellent trail for running. Saw one snake and it was little. Not overly busy but later on the way back more hikers around. It was beautiful.

I did this hike solo and it was such a beautiful experience. I recommend buying the Dipsea trail map they have at the visitor center in Muir Woods. It helped me get through the whole day without much trouble figuring out the trail because it can get complicated at some points considering there are so many trails in Muir Woods. Start out surrounded by redwoods. End your journey resting your tired ass toes in the Pacific at Stinson Beach. Just to finish off at the beach was one of the most phenomenal feelings and moments of my life. Currently writing this review at Stinson beach because I couldn’t pass up the moment to capture my energy from this hike.

Nice short trail. As you can see on the map, there are lots of fire roads that can be mistaken by the trail.
If you want a better workout, do it counterclockwise (steeper going up that way). There's some peculiar historical information about the area. Also, lots of turkey vultures flying by the tower on top (taking advantage orographic lift).

loved this trail! It had such diverse terrain and views. It was absolutely beautiful! It is a difficult trail though for sure. I am from Colorado and hike all over the place but this is now one of my favorite hikes!

This is a very nice hike if you want no one on your trail, is a great workout and very peaceful time. The trail is not much shaded so take enough sun protection and a nice hat. Also it gets really hot during summer daytime and so bring enough water. The walk through the neighbourhood isn’t very nice - you don’t go on a hike to see how rich Marin people live. But overall it’s a great workout abs I’ll do it again in spring.

This is classified as a moderate hike but for the first time hiker it may be a challenge. There are many sets of steep wooden stairs. Also rock “stairs” to navigate. Dogs on leash are allowed to hike here. I would not recommend taking a dog that is not used to steep rocky hikes. My girl is a good hiker and can handle inclines but this was too difficult for her. We had to take several breaks and she only made it about halfway. Be careful going down as some of the places have gravel that can cause you to slip. Finally I would suggest going in the winter or spring. I went in the summer and though the lake was pretty the waterfalls were almost non existent.

Great hike mostly an incline up stairs and rocks. Great picnic area about 1.4 miles up. Lovely mystic look with a forest feel.

Great demanding trail and not for the faint of heart. I’m just starting to get back in shape and this trail really challenges me. Due to time constraints and my current capabilities I took the shortcut using the Pig Farm Trail route which made it about 1.5 mile hike round trip.

Dipsea half marathon was muddy, raining, tough

on King Mountain Loop Trail

The first part of the hike on the fire trail is steep and rocky. The King Mountain Loop is a nice trail through Madrone, Redwood and manzanita is beautiful with sweeping views of the Bay at the top. Recommend this hike!

This trail has many options of different length hikes. They provide paper maps at the trail head to help navigate though the park.

on Hidden Falls Trail

Trail has many options for all levels of hikers. Many shady portions and great facilities. Make sure to bring plenty of water. The hidden trail leads you to some great overlooks and you can hike down to the trail. Make sure to reserve the day before. $4.00 for half day 6:30am-9:30am / All day $8.00. No cell reception so take screenshots of your confirmation when you reserve. Take a picture of the trail map before you head out.

This is one of the most scenic and beautiful trails I have ever run! However, it is also one of the most difficult. Many of the uphills and some downhills are not run-able as they are too steep, but there are some stretches that finally level out enough to run normally. This trail has become one of my favorite training grounds for trail running!

Great for families.

Gorgeous trails with views of the river. This is a great hike for a hot day because there are so many places to take a quick dip and cool off.

Lots of climbing but pretty scenery throughout! I didn’t feel there was a big ‘pay-off’ moment at the top with a nice view so that’s why I’d rate this one a 4!

Fabulous!!! Amazing trail! Challenging at times, but so much fun! Loved every step and all the different sceneries with wonderful vegetation. From the tall trees to the foggy wet areas, mountain and ocean views, so much to see and explore!! Make sure you buy your $1.00 map at the visitor center. The free map is not as detailed as the one you buy. Wear layers as the mornings are cool, but you get warm fast going up the trail. Enclosed shoes are a must. Bring extra water, sunscreen, a hat and get ready to enjoy nature, listen to everything that nature has to offer. We did the round hike, out and back. We had a wonderful lunch at Stinson Beach, walked up to the beach and then headed back to the trail. Our return was a lot faster than our first part of the hike going there. Go early, right when the park opens, the morning fog is beautiful!!!!

Not marked at all so make sure you download the map before you start. It’s a rough way up and steep way down. Not a lot of shade at certain points so make sure to wear sun screen. Not sure if we took the right way back, because we went down a thin little valley path to get back

I have a love / hate relationship with Training hill, it’s great for hill repeats. And it’s close to a bunch of other trails.

Great stuff

Bring water, especially during the warm time of the year.

I loved this hike, Hiked in to the waterfall felt pretty easy going and I did it 30 weeks pregnant, just made sure to bring lots of water and brought some snacks. You do have to maneuver down the the swimming hole part but it wasn’t too difficult and the water felt great!! Definitely will do this one again!!

Really enjoyable hike, and gorgeous waterfalls throughout. Quite a bit of climbing, but most of it is using stairs and rocks that stand in well for stairs.

A few nice views. I crossed Blithedale Ridge rd and kept following Hoo Koo on the other side until it turned into Corte Madera Trail. I got a little lost. I now see this map has you come down Blithedale and back on the Southern Marin Line Fire rd. Had fun getting lost. Many great roads and trails back here to do in the future.

The mountain so nice, we climbed it twice. It's pretty steep on both ends. The forest is really beautiful, and I suggest going early bc the fog makes it particularly nice. I love all the big trees.

Incredibly gorgeous hike! Started at Stinson Beach and went to Muir Woods and back (best option for parking/there's a bus that goes from Stinson Beach to Sausalito). Great views of the Redwoods throughout the hike! Would rate it more as moderate though: there was an extended climb of scares, then another turning back from Muir Woods, but otherwise it wasn't too difficult.

Short hike and lots of stairs. The majority of the hike is through super lush forest along a cute creek. There are some mosquitos tho so bring bug spray
