Hidden gem above El Paso

Watch out for rattle snakes

Difficult workout but my GSD and I made it to the site.
Met a guy up there who stated "a snowflake liberal kid would never make this hike".
Follow the app directions and you'll never get lost.

Excellent canyon trail for day hikes and overnight backpacking. Very Narrow canyon in places with many water crossings. Be aware of weather conditions as a flash flood could be disastrous if caught in the narrows. We did a 2 nighter in late October 2018 and there was plenty of water for the first 4 miles we hiked. Seemed alot longer because of all the river crossings. Some great camps along the way and old mining ruins to explore too. Saw deer walking up the river, bear scat along the way and had a mountain lion make itself heard very near our camp on the first night. Great backpacking trip.

Eisenhower is a great place to hike. Scenery is very pretty along the way with several lake views along the trail. There are restrooms at multiple points near the trail. Also picnic tables. On 11/4/18, much of the trail was very muddy due to recent rains.

Beautiful walk! A lot of loose rocks being the only downfall! I will go back!

Easy to get to, but be sure you have your state park pass or pay the parking fee. Once you're on the trail, be ready for some steep climbs at first!

We hiked up to where the trail crosses with another, 1.3 Miles then turned around. Have done the whole hike before, and its a great one, but couldn’t make it today. It is a beautiful hike! The creeks are full and splashing. Gorgeous foliage. The hike is not difficult, but you do have 8 water crossings so prepare to get wet feet.

trail running

I'm writing this mainly to warn anyone wanting to run it soon (October 23, 2018 today) that the trail from Trail Marker 1 to TM 2 goes into the Lake right now. You can go from TM 3 to the north. These markers are on the map the person in the fee both will give you. Most of the trail is muddy, now, but would be pretty runnable if we had not had so much rain lately. Roots and rocks, but runnable. The northernmost part of the trail, the loop, is in and out of campgrounds and I didn't care for it too much but I still enjoyed myself and got a decent run in by hitting the mostly deserted park road for the last 1.5 miles I did back to my car.

Awesome morning work with crisp cool air.

Whenever I have to go through CRC on Bliss, I always make time for this trail. I’ve done it from the Transmountain Drive side, as well as the McKelligon Canyon side. Both are equally difficult. The main goal is to always reach the Window. Lots of steep uphills from both sides to get to it, but the payoff is worth the pain. I usually spend 4 or 5 hours playing around these peaks, as there is a lot of view to take in. Bring plenty of water, and watch for loose rock. The towers up on top make a great place to rest, as you can sit on the edge of a sheer cliff overlooking El Paso a couple thousand feet below. GREAT TRAIL!

Great trail myself, my pregnant wife and daughter got up fairly quick. Coming down was a bit sketchy but made it down safely!!!

We did this hike in mid August not as shuttle but halfway in and out one week then from the other end the next week halfway in and out . Easy terrain for all ages

Tougher trail than we thought it would be. Many steep, rocky inclines and descents. That being said the view at the top is astounding! Close to 7 miles. Take your time and wear good hiking boots.

Was an awesome trail, the only downfall is the trail is hard to follow. There was blue spray paint every now and then which indicates the trail. Definitely recommend if in the El Paso area.

very overgrown. trail completely disappears in many places

So much fun and enjoyed the challenge. Went off and on the trail. Took a break down at the memorial before making the descent. Will do it again.

Nice and Steep!! Great views.

Great hike through trees and meadows. When you get to Argentina Peak, I highly encourage you to top the rock. It is a tough climb, but well worth it for the view and a great place to rest.

A bit steep but worth it. Took my ten year old son and it took us an hour and sixteen minutes to complete. I would recommend hiking poles for the descent down. The description states 1..2 miles but the recording showed it was 2.2 miles.

great hike, not good for little ones, it has some narrow edges but its awesome views

This was a fantastic hike and we highly recommend doing the loop. Don’t take the cut off stay the course and you will be rewarded with beautiful vistas. The map say 6 miles but it is really over 7 miles. Great hike.

A beautiful hike, with tremendous views and really fun in the technical section (I would skip using the chains and simply climb up using the natural hand-holds). I've done it in both directions and prefer starting in McKelligon Canyon and ending at Trans-mountain road (the decent into the wash at Trans is a bit loose at the top but manageable). 2.5hrs start to finish, at an easy pace, but bring water as it can get hot!

Btw, we did manage to do it with one car, by having an Uber pick us up and bring us back to the start...

This was a great hike! I took my 10 year old along and he had no problem keeping up. When we got to the caves El Paso PD was there conducting extraction training. They took the time to explain what they were doing which my son loved. Shout out to our men and women in blue!

The best trail in area.

Great hike . Lots of rocks to slip on so be careful! Near the top is a little steep but the peace at the top of the caves is worth it !
