good trail for me after finding the beginning. No maps at beginning but was clearly marked at each intersection with mileage. This stopped at gravely road no more length markings. Did the loops first then to the overlook had to turnaround due to time and didnt truly know how long it was to the end..all the websites of this trail have different numbers. Small hills each seemed to be followed by a length of flatness changed from sneakers to my hiking shoes about a mile in. Saw a few redheaded woodpeckers which was great so use to seeing the herring or commonly called seagulls living at the beach. I always bring a backpack with supplies in case of injury..who knows when youll be found if injured and cant get to phone...

Its a beautiful trail and a decent hike, but I couldnt get over the traffic im the background, logging roads, garbage truck went by on a dirt road. All that noise ruined the secluded feel for me.

I'd give this 2.5 stars. I know i'm going against the grain with my opinion, but unless you have young children or you're looking for a long easy-moderate hike I would look for another trail. The first loop was ok nice with foundations, streams, and foot bridges to admire. The second loop I spent 50% of my time trying to find the trail markers which were buried by down trees or completely overgrown sections of the trail and the other 50% slipping and sliding over rocks while swatting away swarms of bugs. There was nothing interesting to see in the second part of the loop, and I really just wanted to be done with the trail as it just seemed to drag on and on.
Also, just to note, there are signs saying No Dogs or Bikers, in case you wanted to bring either.

it was different with both the woods n the marsh,if u go there this wknd 9/15 do not where your deer outfit because bow season starts, I didn't like the gun shots either(squirrel hunters)

Excellent trail with very clear markings! As others have said, the scenic view doesn't offer a lot (other than trees... which I have zero problem with) during the summer and early fall before the leaves have fallen.

The only thing that was not closed for restoration was the WWII memorial but it was very nice. Trails are well marked, though we did get turned around a few times. The terrain gets to be very rocky with lots of tree roots which can start to get annoying but otherwise, it’s decent.

Love it! Parking can be a bit of a hassle for busy days but a wonderful area!

I love this path! It’s my go to when I want to walk outside. There can be a lot of people but the ocean views make it worth it.

Short, open, flat and wide trail. Good quick walk with dogs/kids.

Great hike! Take water if a hot day, and maybe call an uber driver to take you back to start.

Really easy 3-mile loop with several spots for shore access. I enjoy taking a book out on the rocks and enjoying the summer breeze. Great for birding.

Beautiful area. The main trails are more like old country roads, and very easy to walk. They begin with incredible views of the marsh, and head into the woods. Once in the woods, there are lots of little side trails that all loop back to the main trail. These are not well marked if you’re looking for blazes, but the trails themselves are very obvious for the most part. Like the other reviews say, the mosquitoes are terrible. I had on bug spray, and still got eaten alive. I paused for a sip of water, and had a swarm on me. I couldn’t even count them. Will try again when it’s cooler.

Nice afternoon hike. First-time visit. Very rocky and many tree roots/tree’s down throughout the trail. A few steep stairways. OK for large breed dogs (I brought my Golden retriever).

Hike here often with my dog. One of my favorites for a quick little get away

When was the last time this trail was blazed? Too many unmarked trails. This could be a nice trail.

It was amazing! It’s perfect for running and hiking. The view is breathtaking.

My husband and I hiked here on a hot Labor Day, and really enjoyed it! As others have mentioned, lots of rocks, plenty of up and downs, some interesting landmarks (cairns and table rock) and plenty of bugs. We came prepared with bug spray and happy that we did. I underestimated our water needs given it was so hot so won't do that again!

Beautiful, serene

Nice 2.5 mile hike. A little challenging, but our 3 and 4.5 year olds were able to complete it. Bring bug spray. Will come back in the fall to see the foliage!

Awesome trail! Not too many bugs this time of the year and great Lake for the dogs to take a dip!

The loop they show is 1.4 miles but there are many more routes you can take. If you start at the horse stables at boat ramp you can add on another 1.8. I went point to point and two loops around route shown and then some. Landed up with a nice 8 mile hike. Beautifully shaded - great place.

short and sweet. needs more parking.

Had a great time. Trails were all marked really well. Great for a family or anyone who wants to challenge them selves a little bit and have some fun

Fun, moderately difficult hike. Some flat cruising sections around Asheville pond, but mostly rocks and roots. Plenty of short distance rock scrambles that will burn the legs a bit. Trail well maintained and well marked with yellow blazes. Make sure to take the spur trail at the west end of long pond for some great views. Overall a great time!

Great trail for the area. I would rate it above average difficulty. We took the right trail from the parking lot and did the out and back in about 50 minutes. My 40 pound lab mix handled it like a champ. Highly recommended and a must do!

Great trail, I did the red trail, my gps showed it at just about 5 Miles. The trail was very well marked. I’m a novice and this was a perfect trail for me. It challenged me in some spots but was easy enough not to be intimidating. Lots of bugs, but isn’t that expected in the woods? Im looking forward to going back to do the 8 mile loop.

By far the most poorly organized trail out there. The map at the beginning did not coordinate well with the actual trail/markings.

First time I have hiked this trail, and I liked it a lot. I didn't go all the way to the end of the Blue Trail - just a little past the scenic overlook (from which you can't see the ocean or Block Island now in high summer because of foliage!), then doubled back and did all the loops. There are enough hills to make it interesting, and the trails are well marked and maintained. It was sad to see how overgrown and uncared for the cemetery looks, though. I'll come back in late fall or winter when there isn't so much tall grass to wade through so that I can see the gravestones better. Very nice trail overall!

Nice but buggy!

This trail was well marked and maintained. There is enough elevation changes to give a good workout. We hiked a 4 mile loop with a side hike to the overlook. The overlook’s view was mostly blocked by leaves. I believe that it would be a nice view once the leaves fall.
If I lived closer I would hike this trail more often.
