This trail is relatively short and easy compared to most other ADK towers. It was worth the hike. Check out my full write up along with pictures and things to look out for.

Really awesome trail! I would say it is medium to difficult. If one has any back or knee issues I would not attempt this. The views at the top are amazing.

Love this hike. Dislike the crowds.

Not a long hike but definitely a challenge! For most of the way up, it’s a steady incline to keep the heart pumping. The last quarter or so of the trail is quite steep. There are a few tall rocks to climb over. The view is definitely worth it! The way down is a bit challenging in spots. I would do it again.

a beautiful day for a hike...we are hiking with our grandson so he can finish the Tupper Lake Triad....the view is amazing....we will have to go again in the fall to see all the color

Not a fan. Most of this is trail is on pavement around a lake that has algae warnings. Mosquitos were terrible even with deet.

first 2 miles are enjoyable with mostly hard packed dirt, roots, and occasional rocks. the last mile made me almost turn around...we had our boxer dog on leash and she needed to be lifted at times. toward the top it gets really hard to keep on trail. we missed trail to tower to find an even better lookout. on way down, we found tower. I would do this again, with more daylight to enjoy the amazing views. my app and watch said it was over 8 miles.

Definitely a toddler friendly hike with a stunning 360 degrees view!

Great payoff at the top with a fire tower.

Great views, pretty easy hike

It was a very long hike that let to the valley top on the opposite side of the falls. I was hoping more to be up close to the falls.

First 2/3 of hike is quite easy going. Last 1/3 was a steep incline to the fire tower. Very manageable for us. We had our 11 year old son and Boston terrier with us. Would definitely do it again! Beautiful view!

I didn’t think this trail was hard, but by husband did as he has bad knees. Summited in 3 hrs and about 2.5 hrs to descend. The views were nice although it was a cloudy day, I’m sure on a clear day it would be incredible. I would recommend poles if prone to knee strain.

This hike is not long or difficult but is a little challenging. Some definite climbing on rock and do not ever try hike without proper footwear especially if it’s wet. The trail can be a little confusing at times and you will really need to look for the markers. Some stepper rock climbs in the middle of the trail. The really nice thing about the hike is the sneak peak views you get of the lakes while climbing to the top. Of course the best view is saved for last and the tower is open.

This was my first of the 46ers. Though it was a challenging one to start off with, the views were absolutely worth it. Really cool mini stone castle at the top that includes a dining area, gift shop and restroom. I will be returning one day!

I hiked this today and after all the rain we had this week it was MUDDY. I slipped on a few spots, mostly on the way down so you definitely have to watch your footing. View of the lake from the top is amazing and on the loop back down the other side there are views all along the way. Took me longer than I anticipated but mostly because of the mud and having to place my feet carefully. Overall a good hike, neat to see a wind turbine at the top!

Nice steady climb that was challenging with a great view from atop the fire tower. Be brave and climb to the top! Our two sons (5 & 8) were able to make it with a handful of water breaks. 1.5 hours up and 1 hour down. Enjoy!!!

Great hike for all ages and pups as well! Very easy and short hike. Great for beginners.

Great trail. Short, a bit steep at times but I my 3yo did it while holding my hand. Can get pretty slick in the rain. Go early to beat the crowds but there is actually plenty of room on the trail.

Very wet hike through misty woods. Number 13 for the challenge! Well maintained and great directions. I’m sure there would have been a great view from the tower. Dog loved the ferns!

We hiked Esther via the ASRC in April. So we skipped her on our climb this week. That being said, our Esther hike prepared us very well for the Face. We took it nice and slow up Marble. After Marble, we progressively picked up our pace. Took a nice break at the ski lift before making the final push to the summit. The summit is pretty great... The hordes of tourists that drove up there.... Not so much.... Regardless, a very fun hike! A bunch of ravens were circling the summit!

Easy, short hike with a great view! Took us just over an hour round trip, including 10 minutes at the top. Lots of dogs and families. If you're looking for a quick hike with a rewarding view, this is the hike for you. Did as part of the Tupper Lake Triad.

Great hike. The only water on the trail is a couple of small springs between the trail to Ester and Whiteface. My dog loved it and we had no bugs. Glad to check those two off my list.

this was and awesome hike a bit longer then what I'm use to but pretty easy hike we stopped once on the way in. I will suggest anyone trying to get to the bottom of the falls to bring a rope that would have been very helpful.

Awesome trails! there is a lagoon here, has anyone seen it?

Great hike with beautiful waterfall at end. Never too steep.

Nice hike for the family. For us, it was easy- not something I’d remark as moderate- as we do a great deal of hikes. We checked in early to beat the rush. It’s a popular hike, especially during peak season. Our son loved it. Had no issues making our way to the fire tower and back in a reasonable amount of time. Going up we passed no one, however coming down we passed so many! If you want to beat the crowd, definitely get there early.

My favorite hike! It’s nice and short. A perfect hike for a little work out that anyone can handle.

Great hike with my youngest. After the rain the falls was flowing nicely and the Hudson River was being enjoyed by numerous rafters. 4hr and 20mon with some time spent at the river.
