nice trail with a simple incline as you make the turn west towards the big A. Has a decent view on fort Collins and you can also get a good one of the reservoir. Plenty of chances to see prairie dogs along the way and I also saw a snake.

Beautiful trail, more like moderate with some hard sections. Pretty easy overall. Exposed with little shade. Encountered a rattle snake on the trail!

Note: the direction button for this trail leads you to the Green Mountain Trailhead, which is on the other side of Dakota Ridge! If you go there you'll probably have an easier time finding parking than at the Matthews/Winter park. You start on the Zorro Trail across the road, which leads you up to Dakota Ridge. I accidentally went down Green Mountain trail because I missed the signs and was looking for the red rocks trail. I drove to Matthews instead and took red rocks to Dakota. I kind of likes that way better. *

*bikes arent allowed the first portion of the village walk trailhead I think but are on Zorro.

Great hike! Great view on horsetooth reservoir!

This is a pretty loop hike and is not as highly trafficked as going to the rock.

Pretty views but so rocky, and the large number of inconsiderate people riding bikes ruined it for me. I’ll try a hiking only trail next time.

Solid hike. Not much shade but great to hike near RRX.
Didn’t like having to cross street

Loved it! Cool mix of terrains. We got a little turned around but made it and it was really satisfying! Very open so wear sun shirt.

Good hike very close to the city. 3 stars for the views of Ralston Bluffs.

Lots of mountain bikers. Huge amounts in the afternoon. Most were cool but Was startled many times by them others racing by with little notice or heads up around blind corners on steep portions of trial.

Great trail, moderate traffic during the week. Good short workout.

I missed a turn and went up a draw on the far SW end and it was way too steep and technical for me to pedal. Had to take the bike for a walk for a while. Better navigation next time!

Great biking trail. It's good for learning technical with plenty of spots to just cruise.

Perfect hiking weather today and only encountered a few other hikers on the trail. We took south ridge on the way up to Horsetooth Rock and I would say it was a moderate hike. The summit is gorgeous with views in all directions. I would definitely do this hike again.

A very misty morning hiked around 9:30 and saw 3 bear cubs.about 3/4 way up to top of trail. This trail is rated hard. The elevation and rocky trail makes it challenging but I wouldn’t say it was hard because you climb a little then it levels out . Definitely would do again on clear day and bring bear spray!

Hiked all the way to the top of the rocks and the views were stunning!!! Highly recommend this hike. There was enough people to not feel isolated but not so many that you felt overcrowded.

I went her at the recommendation of my local bike shop and I had a great time. Was just by myself but decided to not look at the trail map and just go where I thought looked more interesting. Ended up staying and going up and down again and again for almost four hours. Next time I will have to bring my climbing shoes though as I found some nice bouldering spots just off the trails. Was fairly crowded and a fairly easy but pleasant downhill ride. The times I was going uphill wasn’t bad and I would say with some of the rocks and logs in the trail could be considered a medium.

Beautiful hike with great views from the top. Wouldn't personally rate this hike as "hard" or "difficult" but definitely a nice climb...

(Bring Yaktrax if the trail is snow/ice covered)

Love this place! My husband takes our 5 year old mountain biking while myself and the 1 year old hike up to the tabletop. It’s decently trafficked. I’ve never had some of the issues others have said about not enough room for bikers/hikers, but we also go in the afternoon. It does get toasty, bring plenty of water and a snack. The views are worth the leg burn!

Went on Saturday morning, Sept 22, 2018. Arrived at lot around 8AM. There were about 3 cars there already. When leaving, the lot was full with people driving around looking for a place to park. I counted 16 cars total in the full lot. So there is NOT much parking at all.

I did not complete the hike since I only planned on a 2 hour hike total. Wife was waiting in car. I made it almost to the creek at the 1.3 mile point before heading back. I was alone and didn't want to risk falling. The trail was really challenging because of the loose rock on the steep slopes. I tread very carefully to keep from falling. I still managed to fall on the way back and had another near fall. Nothing broken, no harm done. My plastic water bottle in my hiking belt took the brunt of the fall. Without the water bottle, I would have hit my hip on the trail. That's another good reason to carry water!

I did not see any other hikers on this trail. There were lots of people going to Bridal Veil Falls. If I had it to do over again I would go to Bridal Veil Falls instead of this one.

Be sure to use a hiking pole and watch for loose rocks.

FYI I am a 70 year old male using my wife's account.

Beautiful scenery, be ready for kinda steep hiking. I’m from Houston, Texas and had to take some breathers going up hill but that was only for part of the hike. The rest was a price of cake and enjoyable. Just take your time. :)

“Easy/moderate/hard are relative terms. I’m not a great biker, but I am a stubborn persistent hiker. This was Harder than I expected- especially at the end. I finished, but my feet are paying for it. Warm September day- drank all my water plus some. Views were beautiful and so was the company. Glad to say I have completed an iconic Fort Collins hike.

Excellent alternative to Bridal Veil Falls. Trail really got chewed up after Sept 2013 floods, but very passable (the reason for 4 instead of 5 stars). Highly suggest hiking sticks.

West Creek and the Falls were very lively. A lot of cutthroat trout in many of the pools.

We saw only 4 couples the entire time. This is a great close-in trail for those seeking great views, a workout and few people.

Nice trail if you're in Ft. Collins area. It's pretty nice when you get to the top, with some cool rocks to walk on.

Great views, awesome with the leaves changing colors. I guess the difficulty would be based on how in shape you are, grade is steep and rocky, but it's not that bad.

Perfect hike! Good mountain feel for being so close to town. Usual routine is to go up to the rock and go down the falls trail afterwards as a cool down. A bit of scrambling on the rock trail. Use caution when it's snowy/icy or during the night as it's easy to get off trail in certain areas. The falls look the best when runoff is well underway.

Short and sweet! Couldn’t recommend it more. The views of Horsetooth and Fort Collins are really something. Bring water, it’s a climb!

easy, with some nice views

Lots of great views!
We hiked up to Horsetooth Rock starting at 8:40 AM on a Sunday. The parking lot was almost full as we arrived. $6 to park and in we go.
The hike starts along gradual switchbacks and slowly gets steeper, picking up rocks and wood steps. It doesn’t get difficult until you’re near the top and climb up the rock itself. That requires hands.
All the way up you get views over Horsetooth Reservoir, Fort Collins and the plains. At the top, the view is 360 with views out to a big Rocky.
Nice trail for families, groups and going further into the hillls.

Was a good easy hike to get some steps in. Ok views which is why I have it 3 stars.

Surprisingly scenic for being in the middle of everything. Great when looped with Red Rocks.
