Great hike when you're itching to go out, but don't have time to leave the city. Head on up see the famous view of Portland from Council Crest.

#1 favorite hike to show friends and get them excited about hiking.

This is one of the shortest hikes I've done that still gives you high-up Gorge views. If you exercise regularly, it's an easy climb. The trail did get fairly crowded with families around 11 am (I went on a Friday), so go early or during the week if you don't want to be passing someone on every switchback.

beautiful...Lots of trails.

Grew up hiking these trails as a kid in elementary school on field trips. A good easy hike for all ages! The suspension bridge is always fun too!

Great hike, really cool history, and beautiful views.

beautiful waterfalls!

Falls themselves are beautiful and the water feels very crisp this time of year.

the hike itself isn't bad at all and there is a decent amount of traffic throughout the hike.

Beautiful hike. We did it on Tuesday after 5 pm. We had the trail to ourselves. There were some people by the lower waterfall.

beautiful view. uphill, downhill, and flat terrain. easy to get to if you're in Portland. trail, stair, or road options. very dog friendly. usually occupied by a lot of other people. not a secluded area at all. great for all levels.

Great trails. Not too much traffic and we went on a Saturday. Parking was a bit limited.
We did the entire loop which was about 2 miles. The upper trail was missing a bit of signage, which lead to a few incorrect turns for us. If not for that I would have given this five stars. The views of the lower and upper falls were incredible!

Great city park. Good for trail running.

Was fun and short mostly up hill but great day!

nice and well marked simple and relaxing break from the city

one way small trails part of the way with a couple cross streets. overall wonderful with good incline!

Arguably the best views of the gorge are from this trail. Located on the WA side of the gorge it's grown in popularity since I first hiked it. Yes, I'm terrified of heights. Yes, I went suuuuper slow but once I got going the hike became easier and more enjoyable. On a cloudless day the view is out of this world. I found the history of the rock very fascinating and it blew my mind that I was climbing the exposed inner core of a prehistoric volcano. Read the signs when you go if you have little ones. It adds an extra dash of fun.

For great views of Beacon Rock, try the LITTLE Beacon Rock trail across the road; be sure to scramble to the top of the peak on your right at the end of the easy trail

This was my first time going and it was amazing! Beautiful views and all of the other hikers were friendly and said “Hi” when going past. At the top were a few squirrels who came up to me while I was munching on snacks! They were a little hungry.

This was my 8 year olds favorite hike this summer. Very cool to see how it was made and go over all the Bridges and switchbacks. My 3 year old walked to the top on her own, so it's not a overly difficult, just all uphill.

Our maps took us to a weird place but it’s near Vistas House so do use that as your guide. There are two trails actually! One leads to the waterfall (lower falls) that allows you to see it closer than you would have just standing on the bridge. We didn’t know until we got home :( The other one (upper falls) was super gorgeous. We even climbed the rocks and walked behind it! Very calming and nice scenery. There were some steep inclines but so worth it! :)

Great hike!!

We really enjoyed this hike. We went early and there were not many people. Decently easy hike. I would recommend going to the larger falls first. We hiked to the back falls first then back around to the front and by that point there were tons of people. The front falls is a very quick walk so a lot of people just drive up and walk to that one so I would recommend doing the front falls first then hiking to the back ones. Beautiful falls though!

We did this one in January. I love that I can hike in the winter and not need a huge winter coat, hat, scarf, gloves. Managed with just a sweatshirt on this trail. It was beautiful and a bit crowded. Worth it though.

Cute little park. Nicely maintained trails. Great for a quick hike in the city.

Super easy quick trail. Lived in the pnw all my life and have been on many hikes but just never managed to come here. Finally did it and it was a piece of cake.
I would understand if someone afraid of heights had a hard time but it’s very much worth it!

Beautiful, accessible; the perfect walk in the woods.

Hiking up to the upper falls is a moderate hike: rocky and rooty. The loop trail has signs but not where it counts. The hike to the bottom of the fall is easy and well maintained (there were even some strollers). Very dog friendly.

Fun and pretty easy trail. There were a lot of people at the first fall as would be expected, but the second fall wasn’t hard to reach and much less crowded.
