To Do Map

I've done this hike many times. it is satisfying for all skill levels. great views and a very short drive from Calgary.

Amazing hike with breathtaking views. I would not recommend doing this hike without poles. I also wouldn’t recommend bringing larger dogs as it would be difficult to cross the chains.
It was a challenging hike but completed with 5 hours at a moderate pace with lunch on the summit. Definitely don’t do this as your first hike of the year.

Great trail to do with the kids. We had a nice sunny spot for a picnic once we reached the falls.

The view up top is amazing!

I would rate this 'moderate' as opposed to 'hard'. Not too steep in the forest region (which is the majority of the hike), but when you start reaching the top it gets pretty steep. But for the most part, I found it fairly moderate and very enjoyable. Beautiful views at the top. An awesome way to spend a Sunday!

great trail

I wouldn’t classify this route as hard more of a moderate. 2nd favourite in the Canmore area

Hiked this trail with my dad and our friend from Ireland! He'd never done a hike like this before so it was a great first experience. When we reached the chain it was sleeting, made for a sketchy crossing. The scree ski on the way down was a highlight!

excellent hike! the initial downhill descent was deceiving, but it gradually climbed from there. Great hike through the trees, the path was nice and wide. I did not donthe final climb to thr viewpoint, only to the too of the first. I found it to be difficult but once at the top, the views were great! did this hike round trip (including stopping for lunch at the top) in 5 hours. My fitbit calculated this hike to be 15km (without going thr extra distance to the viewpoint)

This was a good hike. Well marked trail, beautiful views of the mountains at the top. When you get to the last little trail don’t stop! It looks deceiving but go for it! It’s worth it. It wasn’t too hard but you will get tried on your hike back up to the parking lot.

Wife had to be rescued on top as I pulled her shoulder when trying to help her climb up the scramble. My first hike and definitely a challenging one especially for beginners. Going down was the hardest as we were sliding down. Very memorable.

Loved this hike! Get on the trail and power it up! Definitely some character building moments but those make for the best summits! Mountains 360. Highly recommend this hike for those considering a solo hike

Wowzers! This one was a challenge for me! I’m getting back into being active soo this one was tough tough tough.. I managed to make it to the switchbacks but turned back before climbing further! Going is not so bad but coming back is brutal. A lot of downhill on loose rock path. Definitely got a workout coming down and of course as you come back and get closer to parking, you have to go up the really big hill that you came down starting. Keep that in mind when hiking. Save some strength for the end! I managed to get through all the while dealing with foot pain (prior injury) however.. the hike is beautiful! Will definitely going to be coming back and concur the mountain up to the fire lookout!!

Easy trail that leads to a small waterfall. I suggest if you are a local to wait until a weekday as it's extremely busy on weekends. You can be in and out in less than 2 hours if you keep a steady pace. Plenty of climbing opportunities along the way.

Two separate parking lots, both lead to the same trails. At first the sound of the nearby industrial area is easily heard but soon drowns out when you enter the canyon.

Fun scramble, but I wouldn’t say the view was overly spectacular.

the views are so worth it! make sure to go right so that you can run down the scree at the end!

Great trail! Only noise was from the nearby factory and once past it, it wasn’t too bad. ! Super quiet.

Bathrooms and paved parking . Will do again for sure !

Easy hike, but gets a bit monotonous after a while. Great for rock climbing, but hard on the feet if you’re hiking. Ended with a pretty waterfall.

great hike, lots of ups, downs and flat spots so you can pound it out pretty easily. rewarding views.

What a beautiful hike. Worth the reward once at the fire lookout at the very top. A bit of a rocky hike. Took us 4.5 hours.

Pretty easy hike at first gets harder at end but great for beginners. The look out is nice and nice views.

An incredibly challenging walk but never ending breathtaking views to keep you motivated throughout! You need to be in good physical condition to be able to conquer this one both uphill and down. Going up is one long ordeal but the views from the top absolutely breathtaking. Just when you think you have it easy coming down, think again! Get ready to scramble and potentially incur a few cuts and bruises as you go down on your backside at points and be prepared to empty your boots of rocks at least twice on the way down! So much fun though, a real adventure but most definitely not for the faint hearted!

What a thrill!

Trail is very well marked going up. When coming down the front side not many markers. Very thrilling from beginning to the end. Scree is a blast to ski down! I recommend this one to everyone. Fair warning, do not attempt if you are severely afraid of heights. Some sections are quite intense. Rating this a 6.5/10 for difficulty, however overall rating of a 8.5/10 would be more likely due to dangerous portions.

A fun day with my hubby! Some hands down parts! Horseshoe loop had great variety of terrain! The registry needs a new book if anyone going up.

Nice hike but most of the trail is loose rock. The canyon is pretty nifty and not overly challenging with a toddler in a pack. Lots of people were on the trail when we went.

This hike made it onto our "to do" list for the 2018 peak hiking season. First attempt at completing this trek (3 weeks ago) did not go well. We missed the red marker at the crux and ended up on a well used trail that took us far up into the steep debris field on the west side of heart mountain. We ended up running out of time and had to make the decent back down the west leg of the loop.

Our second effort was a success but this hike was certainly not as advertised or described in our guide book. The trail marking after the crux is non existent, well....we couldn't locate any markings. we ended up having to tackle two very difficult and nerve wracking scrambles to make to the summit of heart. The rest of the hike over the 6 peaks had us losing the trail at least three more times.

The views at the top are spectacular but the price paid to get these views was way too high.

Needless to say, Heart Mountain Circuit now has a check mark beside it on our list. This one definitely won't be making it onto our "do again" list.

Great hike, beautiful views and not difficult. The uphill near the end was discouraging. But otherwise very manageable and well worth the effort.

Bring a bike for the first bit. Bring a flashlight for the cave. It doesn’t go very far in, just past where
you can see the entrance and it is worth making it to the end (that’s where the ice is).

Definitely better to bike the first 5km. Open, gravel trail. Lots of oil/gas stations in the way, which was a turn off. The cave itself is very neat, and bigger than we expected. We didn't go to the next Chambers as the pass is very narrow and we did not have any experience in exploring caves. Overall,it is an interesting hike for those who seek a different spot to explore (other than lakes, summits and waterfalls). Bring gear to explore the caves, including headlamps, extra clothes, cloves, helmets.
