Awesome trail

Took my stock jeep up on her first crawl with a group of Jeeps and it was awesome! I was grateful to have my spotters there as this was my first trail and there were some areas that proved to be more challenging , but not impossible. I certainly wouldn’t go up alone in a stock jeep unless you are an experienced driver. The views from the top were absolutely amazing! Everyone there said it was about a level 5. I can’t wait to go back, but when I do I’ll have my lift and tires ready!

A bit hard to find the trailhead. It is before the network of jeep trails. The trail itself is steep, narrow, and slippery. After a half mile or so, I decided it wasn't safe for a 66 year-year-old man hiking alone, and turned back. The views were amazing however.

Amazing view. It was a bit of a trek to the top. A stock Jeep probably make it. A lift would probably feel safer. When you get to the fork in the road there are 3 ways to choose from and it’s poorly marked. To the left is boxes of bees, chose the road on the right and take that all the way to the gate. Once through the gate that’s where the trail starts. So fun!

Cool 4x4 trail, a bit short though.

If you want to go up the mountain around to view the lake you will need a 4x4 with good tread on your tires. Not necessarily a lift kit but traction is key on this trail.

Multiple wondering options to get lost in but follow the directions and take the last turn down to the left. Looks sketchy but that’s where the trail starts.

Trail was pretty good. The dirt roads leading up to the Iron Lakes Trail are easy to drive on probably even in passenger cars. I would only take a 4x4 on the Iron Lakes trail though. A full size pickup would probably get stuck because the trail is very narrow. I saw some stock Tacomas about 3/4 of the way down the trail, the last 1/4 of the trail is probably too steep for non-lifted trucks. I made it with a 3 inch lift and 35 inch tires on my Toyota Tacoma. If you plan on going down to the lake in the summer, be sure to bring mosquito repellant, they are everywhere!

Love this trail.. JKU 3.5” lift with 35’s no lockers

Amazing views!

Does anyone know where to go from the trail end? There are 3 roads to take, once completely covered in bees. Thanks!

Wonderful trail. Took stock wrangler up. This trail is rated a 5 in difficulty in other books, which is the highest I go with stock.

I have spent many years doing trails in the Stanislaus and Sierra forest. This is a very fun trail. Gives you a little challenge along with great views ending with a nice destination point.

Lots of fun for my first trip. Stock 2017 Toyota Tacoma. Had a couple hard spots because of clearance issues. But FUN!!

Vehicle: FJ Cruiser 3 1/4 inch lift 33 inch tires rear lockers, front ATRAC. This trail was very fun ! I didnt even have to air down although the ride would have been more comfortable if I did. No clearance issues at all. I think my daily driver 1999 4Runner with a mild lift can tackle this trail. It's definitely a long drive up to the top but very well worth it. Make sure to make rest stops and enjoy the views, pick wild strawberries, just soak up nature and the outdoors. Cant wait to do another day run with some friends.

Beautiful views!

The difficulty rating is appropriate, there’s a lot of up hill hiking. Getting to the top of Bald Mountain was easy enough. The views are beautiful. Yet somehow coming back down we got lost quite a few times. The trail is not defined and you kind of have to guess which direction the trail is. There were a lot of 4x4 vehicles the day we went. We were the only hikers. Im glad I did this hike but will probably not do it again unless in a vehicle.

Moderately challenging. Saw stock vehicles doing though. You can opt out on some of the hard stuff. Beautiful views. Well worth it. It was a challenge to find the head of the trail. Look for the stacked rocks to stay on track.

amazing hike, blinded by the white granite. very steep at the beginning overwhelming views and finally Meeting a bear on his path.
Start was a little difficult to find, but when heading North where the sign of the Summit is place easy to find. the silence in there is amazing.

Went up after heavy rain and was surprised it was open. Awesome views, blue difficulty, most stock 4x4s can get through when it's dry.

This trail was great to do during May when it was still relatively cool and the clouds provided coverage from the sun. The effort is worth the view at the end (if not totally surrounded by clouds as it was for all but a few minutes when I was there). It’s very easy to lose the trail and I did so multiple times, but being able to reference this app helped. But beware, it drains your battery. Early in the trail, ribbons mark the route relatively well, but once the terrain opens up you have to rely on the rock piles which are obvious in some places and almost impossible to rely on in others.

this is a great skill builder trail for those getting into 4 wheeling. the steep technical climbs are mild and keep you enjoying the trail. mid way there is a sketchy hill climb option that has 4 paths up. the 2 center being the most rutted out and will require lockers to get through. this can be bypassed of course. towards the top there is a rock crawling obstacle for those that want to test their rig and their skill. I had no problems with my jeep wrangler. from the top, you can loop back down, or continue trail to the reservoir. i have done both and prefer the continue to the reservoir as now the descends are technical but not too extreme.

A great hike overall. Hiked it in mid-May while it was still fairly brisk and chilly, which was nice. I do t think it’d be a good hike at all during hot weather since there’s little shade for most of it. Trail starts towards the right side of the parking area. Approx. first 1/3 to the peak is very steep. Make sure you’re in decent shape.. I wasn’t but still made it though. Cairns can be tricky to follow on the way down.

Great trail. A nice challenge. Not to intense for a fun day hike. First quarter of the trail is pretty easy to follow. But after a while it get rather difficult to read. DONT follow the 4x4 trails. They don’t lead to Bald Mountain. This app helped tremendously.

An awesome trail, especially as a fallback when everything else is closed!

Definitely need a fully charged phone to keep track of the trail! Lost track of the ribbons once the trail tapered off, and had to search for stacked rocks in order to know where to go until you find the Jeep trail. Good luck!

Overall pretty cool hike. View was nice at the top, but I would love to see it with Shaver full of water. All trails app isn’t really effective, it pulls you away from main trail. Also trail Head is a little hard to find with a ton of wash out debris blocking the main path and a incorrect path to its left that will lead you straight up the mountain. Good luck have fun, I wouldn’t go alone....

Very easy trail with some tight spots thanks to some fallen trees. I took my stock Jeep renegade and had no problems. Some pretty waterfalls and great views.

The route shown on alltrails isn't well marked, if marked at all, up until you get to the fork half-way up. You need to keep you eyes open so you don't get too far off trail. Taking the left at that fork also appeared to be off trail as well with the random stone cairn every once in a while. It's fairly straight-forward to find your way back to the main trail though.

Beginner to off roading and took the trail no problem. There were some difficult spots and some optional difficult spots. Overall, was a fun day.
