Fun trail. Make sure to start at the trailhead on the left of the parking lot. makes the stairs not so bad. Knights Ferry trail is almost completely grown up so we didn't get to see a lot of the river.

Like everyone else has said it looks very underwhelming at first but once you get to the formations it's definitely a cool place to see. The park is small and it's more walking then hiking. Nice place to stop for a couple hours.

Paved trail with lots of other trail head intersections. Great for kids in strollers.

Haven't done it yet but curious how far in the Hertlein campsite is?

I hit the West Rim Loop today and it was amazing! The trails were well-marked and very well-maintained. Took me right at 3 hours and I was moving at a moderate pace with several stops for water breaks and picture takes! Definitely one I’d do again.

Fantastic hike. Get out early to miss the crowds. By 10:30am the trails are packed, especially byThe Old Man’s Cave area.

Offers a different overlook perspective of the canyon. I especially like the large boulders overlook. The sections that are near water are beautiful. If you want to see rhododendron, this is the trail you want.

Awesome hike!

We hiked starting at 501 and camped at the reservoir. Rocks are everywhere on this trail, I thought I was going to break my ankle.

We did the West Rim loop along with Hemlock and Cherokee falls. This place has the feeling of being out west when your actually in Ga. It is a busy spot, but well worth fighting the crowds to see some once an a lifetime spots.

It’s pretty cool. The park is a lot smaller than I thought it would be. Don’t need to go again, but glad I got to see it.

July 28 - Wonderful hike!

We hiked this trail on July 28th 2018. Creek was running nice for the first 1.5 miles then mostly dry except a small trickle in a few spots. All in all the hike was very nice and the other hikers we encountered (probably 10-12 people) were all very friendly. We went to the top which is about 1.25 miles past the sawmill. The hiking past the sawmill was a little steeper but the view was very nice at the top.

This trail was great! The sawmill along the route is a very neat part of it, and the view at the top is pretty! Giving 4 stars because it is a bit overgrown in some places, and has lots of loose dirt/rocks (my boyfriend actually twisted his ankle pretty bad coming down because of a loose rock). Definitely recommend! It was great for the dogs as well

Easy hiking. At first, I was underwhelmed, seeing mostly whitish rock formations. Later, we came to beautiful gold, burnt orange, and pinkish red “painted rocks”. Definitely worth a stop off the main road for a nice walk. It is a little hot and dry back among the rocks...take a bottle of water.

I was underwhelmed at first, a easy trail and decent views. Then, I got to the main rock area!!! It is gorgeous! I spent probably two hours wandering around in the formation, could have spent more. Super pretty, bring a camera for sure. Definitely an easy trail, could wear sandals.

Simply gorgeous. Especially in the fall and winter.

This likely won’t apply to anyone who uses this app, but I have to say it: flip flops aren’t ideal hiking shoes, particularly the $5 Alvin’s Island variety, and I am not sure why anyone would think they were. So, I felt very little pity for all the folks I saw on the trail wearing said shoes and complaining about their difficulties: “they should let people know...yada yada yada.”

Nope...you shouldn’t go for walk in the woods wearing shower shoes. Craziness.

ALSO....please carry you garbage out with you!!!

June 26, 2018. Be aware of the bear! I hiked up to the summit and back, roughly an 8-mile round trip. About halfway back to the trailhead, I ran upon a large black bear, I'd figure over 500 lbs. He was resting in the brush about twenty feet off the trail and I probably startled him as much as he startled me. Luckily he wasn't aggressive, so we parted on friendly terms. Just be mindful that the dry weather has driven some of the large animals closer to water.

good luck finding yr way whoever marked the trails was blind

Trail can be busy if you go later in the day. Breathtaking scenery. Trail is not terribly difficult, but still a good work out.
Note: There are rattlesnakes and copperheads out here, just be wary where you step, don't mess with them and they'll give you no trouble.

Great hike. Went out on the Gorge Overlook and back in on the Buckeye trail. Just strenuous enough.

Amazingly beautiful for an easy lovely hike. We almost skipped this one- don't, it was so beautiful especially on a 90+ day!

This area is beautiful. The trails are marked well and the whole place is kept up very well! There are a lot of steps on this trail but it wasn’t nearly as bad as I thought it would be. I will definitely hike this again!

Thought the loop was nice and easy, saw lots of rabbits and a jackrabbit. The paint mines were a blast to explore.

I’m an avid hiker and considered this more of a walk or nice stroll. Took our time and spent a lot of time at the main paint mines and was there about 2 hours.

This was a great trail! Very peaceful and beautiful. Definitely continue on after the paved portion ends. My boys and I had the waterfall area at the end to ourselves for a while on a Sunday afternoon. We loved it! Look forward to a return trip!
