My friends and I were camping in Hot Springs NC, and decided to take a 45 min drive over to hike this trail. The hike to the falls is beautiful. From the trail head to the waterfall is about a 400 ft incline in elevation. Because of this, going to the falls is mostly uphill. There are parts of the trail that is just made up of piles of medium size rocks. Great place for snakes to hide. We saw two along this stretch of the trail. Overall, I would totally recommend this hike!

Did this trail last year. Trail is eroding from not being maintained. Waterfall is spectacular.

This was an absolutely beautiful trail from start to end! If you are looking for a challenging, but not too strenuous 2-3 hour hike that includes a creekside view and sound for a majority of the hike, well-marked and maintained trails, beautiful wooded area, 2 spectacular waterfalls and a great place to play in the water (especially for kids and water dogs!) then this is a great pick! We were very grateful to have read prior posts about how to route around the construction on the bridge, as we would have had no idea how to get to this secluded treasure! It was in the middle of no where, but definitely worth the drive! We hiked to the top fall first, followed by the lower falls trail. There was no way of swimmimg in the water near the falls as it was to rugged, but some great spots to wade in alongside the creek! Great hidden gem!

loved the views. Truly worth the drive. Would like to go in fall and even start over night.

Views are beautiful and it’s very peaceful at the top. Like others have said, it’s not much of a “hike” it’s more of a walk to the top, take in the scenery and head back to the bottom. All and all tho, it’s definitely beautiful up there.

This is not a hike it’s short and beyond easy. The 8 mile drive up the mountain is more eventful than the “hike”.

There is are fantastic views at the summit and great sunsets, but good luck enjoying them. Due to the simplicity of the “hike” there will be tons of people at the summit to provide you with a relaxing atmosphere of pizza, loud music, and obnoxiously loud laughing and screaming. If you’re looking for relaxation and a peaceful evening then skip this one

Great little hike with a beautiful waterfall as payoff. There are a few really muddy spots on the trail so make sure you have the correct shoes.

This was an incredible hike!!! For me, the cool part was how beautiful the scenery was along the way. Not only are the falls beautiful, but there are several spots along the way that were just amazing. Granted, I'm not in the best shape and it was challenging in spots, but I definitely felt like it was well worth it.

My family and I hiked this on a Tuesday in July. It was a fun hike and the waterfalls were beautiful. We got into the water at both falls and had loads of fun. The trail itself is mostly single track through woods and along the side of the river. Going down to the falls is mostly downhill, and the return loop has a stretch of uphill that requires some effort. Nothing too serious though. I highly recommend this hike.

We went twice first time say only 2 couples and 4 days later saterday saw at least 7 couples. We swam it it lots of fun. Did see a large snake. No other wildlife.

This is a beautiful hike to a waterfall.

Absolutely beautiful place

Very nice falls. The hike is short but there are plenty of other trails to hit while you’re there. We did a nice 7.2 mile loop. Go early to avoid the crowd.

Absolutely beautiful!! It’s a little bit rocky in some parts so you have to be careful but totally worth it! We brought our dog and she loved it as well!

We hiked this trail yesterday after torrential rains the night before. Lots of trees, limbs, debris on the trail. The falls were really rushing muddy water. A snake was sunning on a rock at the double falls.

There’s plenty of confusion about how to reach this trail. Follow these directions: On 68 South, go 21 mi. from Tellico Plains. Cross Hiwassee River Bridge. Turn right on Underwood Road. The Farner Post Office and Farner Presbyterian Church are on your right. Go .3 mile and turn left on Duggan Road. Go .1 mile and turn left on Old Farner Road. Go .5 mile and turn right about 75 yards after you see a brown Turtletown Creek Falls sign. Keep driving to road’s end, and trailhead is on the right .

After you leave the double falls, walk along the creek and up for a while until you come to a T. Turn left to go to the other falls. To leave, go back the way you came until you reach the T. Go straight to make the loop to return to where you started.

Nice short fairly easy hike.

The waterfall is very nice. Not very populated when I went, so it felt pretty private at the waterfall. The trail itself is very rocky. Overall a great experience.

Hiking poles and Keen hiking boots came in handy for this one! The Falls were great. If you have bad knees - reconsider.

I was told how fantastic that place was, and drove about 2hours for it. I will admit I was a bit dissappointed. If you are around, sure do it! But otherwise...

Great short loop. Beware if you have seasonal allergies, they will flare up!

Absolutely beautiful!! A little rocky in a few spots but it’s SO worth it!!!!!

Max Patch is one of my absolute favorite hikes! The views are incredible any time of the year. My favorite time to visit if for the sunset/sunrise! It is a fairly easy hike, suitable for all ages!

Did this hike the other day and it was spectacular! The hike itself is really short and easy - there were a few families up there with some little kids. The 360-degree views were stunning and you could see for miles! It was about an hour’s drive to get there, but it was absolutely worth it!

The walk is very easy here, you can even walk up the waterfall if it is shallow enough. One of my favorite waterfalls!

Awesome trail!

The drive was long, but so worth it. We loved the scenic drive. The hike was great and easy enough for our young children to hike. The view from the top was amazing!!!! Words can’t even describe the magnificent view!!! God surely showed out when He made this part of the world!! I recommend this hike if you want an easy day hike for family!!

This trail is by far my favorite of all the trails I have done. Very beautiful and worth the hike (and even to the very top where you can look down below).

This is a hidden gem - magnificent waterfall and a pristine crystal clear mountain top lake with a sand bottom beach

It's a rough and bumpy drive to get to the parking area (~30 min off the main road). We went at 5:30 AM on July 4th and there were still 15-20 other groups there. We did the short hike from the parking area to the bald for the sunrise and then took the longer way on the AT back to our car. Highly recommend the AT portion of the hike; it's much quieter and fairly easy, but I would suggest wearing pants and closed-toe shoes for that trail, as the grass is tall in some spots.

Beautiful waterfall. $3 fee per car for parking. It’s 1.5 mi out to the waterfall, and then 1.5 mi back. There are multiple other trails if you want to continue exploring. Most of the trail is sand, but there are some muddy parts and a large stone staircase at the end, so tread carefully. Great day hike! Also, make sure to stop off at the scenic overlooks up and down Oswald Rd on your way in/out of the park.

Must do, must see, just go.
