I gave it four stars instead of five because I didn’t see many flowers. I’m relatively new to hiking and would say it was a moderate hike with a steady climb but not too steep. Our dog loved the little streams and the lake. Very open - no shade so it was warm at times.

It was a little longer than a mile, honestly wasn’t worth it. It was beautiful, don’t get me wrong but it’s so small and the fact you can’t swim in it anymore makes it out for a little disappointing. Other than that the trail has 7 bridges you cross before you get to the end, was super rocky and the scenic views were gorgeous.

Nice trail with a variety of terrain. This trail may be considered hard for those who do not hike frequently... some narrow, rocky areas with over 1000 ft of elevation change. The river was a nice spot to stop for a rest half way through the hike.

A great little day hike!

excellent hike. beautiful

Very cool hike! We did the day hike to Lower, Middle, Upper Blue Lakes and to the Sneffels pass. I recommend camping at the trailhead for an early start. The lower lake is beautiful (it's better than the other two) but pretty full of campers. The best view is from near the middle lake looking down on the lower lake. The path can be hard to find going from lower to middle. The trail from upper lake to the pass was narrow and steep and did get boring, so you could definitely skip this and you wouldn't be missing out. The hike is quite steep in beginning sections, so it gets real old on the way back down (we saw two people who appeared to have twisted ankles from sliding or falling in these sections... both of whom were hiking in tevas, so do with that what you will).

Walk the path by the river, it’s beautiful and is not nearly as rocky. We walked the river path up and it was gorgeous!! It brings you out at a nice place to lay out in the rocks and then you continue on to the main tail to the lake.

A nice workout with a strong hill qt the end. - beautiful - the river was great for my dog too :)

Really awesome hike - short but steep and worth it. Saw a snake around 1 pm today. Definitely got lucky with parking!

Arrived at the trailhead around 4:45PM on Friday. Easy climb With most traffic coming down as we were going up. Only another 6 people at the lake at the same time. Still pretty, but looking rough. Since I was there in 2013 the lake is not as clean with trash was floating on the surface and foam covering the water up to about 10’ from shore. Disappointed and don’t expect to be back.

The trail is beautiful and not too difficult. But I have to agree with other commenters that it’s very busy on weekends and the amount of loose rock is tricky. I still recommend it though because the lake and the waterfalls are relaxing. Also, parking at the Nederland park n ride and getting the shuttle is the way to go; it’s there every 15 minutes on the weekends and you don’t have to deal with the scarce parking at the trail head.

Beautiful hike, but super busy (of course, for a Saturday). We went beyond the lake to the upper lake, which doesn't show an official trail on the map. Lots of scrambling and hard to breathe above treeline. The second lake is pretty, but the first one is better. Another group saw some mountain goats beyond the second lake, but they had run off so we didn't attempt to go further. One note on the trail - wear sturdy boots because there is a lot of traversing over rocks and lots of tree roots. And on a hot day, bring lots of water.

Super cool to see the fire tower and the view from it! This is a nice mellow hike for when you don’t want a long day.

Pretty. Parking not an issue before 7am on a Saturday, and a lot less people to contend with. I have to say one of the best things about this is that no dogs are allowed on the trail. So rare to hike a mile without seeing a single poop bag or someone's special exception running around off leash.

Hiking back down around 9 there was a steady flow of people making their way to the top and the rangers were only allowing one car in when another car would leave.

The lake is amazing......such an unexpected "tropical" wonder in the mountains!!! Parking was very tough and the trail was a bit crowded- but well worth it!!!

Great hike! The views were amazing! Totally worth the climb.

Super nice hike! Only went to the first lake and the waterfalls. Overall, well marked trail, few stretches over boulders that were a bit harder to negotiate, well shaded for lots of the way, quite a few hikers. Parking is a challenge (only 3 spots at trailhead) but road parking farther down. Scenery is beautiful. Good for intermediate hikers.

Really beautiful hike. A nice short warm up for an easy 14’er. We finished at 10 am and the park rangers were already blocking off the parking lot. Lots of people and kids for a Friday, We started out around 7:30 a.m., but stopped a few times for pic’s and a snack. Glad we got this one checked off before the restrictions are enforced next year...

Great hike to take visitors too because the views are epic and it’s only an hour from Denver! Wildflowers, big mountain view’s of Bierdstadt and Evans and a mountain lake that’s warm enough to hop in!

Great option to Mohawk Lakes, which we do every year. Was very similar, but everyone in our group actually liked this one better! Beautiful falls and lake at the top!

The Lake and Spouting Rock (don’t miss this) are some of the most beautiful rewards at the end of any Colorado hike we’ve done. Just beautiful. The hike itself is pretty short, but it is challenging. We started at 8am and it was crowded throughout. Total time was 1:45 with a generous break at the top. Be aware there is a sign that says they are going to reduce access starting in 2019.

Nice, fairly easy trail with some great views, and the lakes are worth it. Got there a little before 8am on a weekday and pretty much had the trail to myself for the most part, a little busier on the way out. Tried to go a bit further on up towards Square Top Mountain, but the trail gets pretty faint after it breaks off so didn’t try too far. Would recommend!

Got to the parking lot at 8:30am and had no trouble finding parking. The trail was fairly empty, a lot more people coming in as we were heading back around 11am.

Highly recommend for a lake hike without a lot of people.

Beautiful hike.

Nice well marked trail that takes you up to Lost Lake, a clear, shallow mountain lake at about 10,000 feet elevation. It’s a bit tough on the way up, but a fun hike down. Nice Mountain View’s and shallow rocky rivers with a couple large waterfalls.

I drove from denver but If my friends and family want to see it while in town Im going to do the train trip to enjoy the views. Drivn took 3 hrs with construction traffic while amtrak is 5 hrs, bring a bike rental with you to take a short bike ride to the trail head. Either way you get there, the view is absolutly worth it. This is a tourist trail, busy.

Gorgeous views.

The views are beautiful, but I didn't enjoy this hike that much. As an older (but not that old) and generally uncoordinated hiker, I felt like this hike was a sprained ankle waiting to happen. Luckily it didn't happen, but I spend a lot of time watching my feet and watching my dog's paws as we hiked over rocks and roots. What was interesting about this trail was the variety! It was like four trails in one: it started with a walk on a road, then through shady forest trails, after the lake and waterfalls the trail was narrow, steep and challenging, and then a relatively level trail through tundra under the shadow of Quandary.

Amazing Hike! Day 2 in Breck and we all felt well enough to take on a hike. This one was worth it! Take your time and make it to the lake at the end of the trail. Venture just a bit further up some of the smaller hills around the lake and you will have made it 12k+ in elevation. Best thing is it sits under Quandry one of the well know 14ers. On the list of hikes of conquer. Great place to rest, soak in some sun and enjoy the beautiful views. Only took the teenagers 20 mins to get down! Didn't think it was crowded, parking was easy when we arrived at 11am. Worth the trip!
