this is a very enjoyable trail if you are looking for lots of nature and a peaceful environment. ive been going since I was a child and first enjoyed it with my girl scout troop. I'm 41 now and still find new things when I walk it. the hike isn't for amateurs because it gets a little challenging in a spots. it takes a while to walk so allow yourself plenty of time before dark and definitely bring a lunch and plenty of water. plan to spend several hours and wear good hiking shoes/ boots you'll need them! this is the kind of trail you need to bring a back pack with supplies on. flashlight and bug repellent are probably good ideas as well! overall this is probably my favorite trail. there are some spectacular views and you'll never see the city the same again!!

Beautiful hike. The river has so many amazing pools and waterfalls it was really cool. The history of the area and the old mining camp is neat to explore. Will visit again and go to the lookouts. Highly recommend for a day hike.

Beautiful place for a sunset, but if you are going to hike it back at night bring a headlamp or flashlight!

Did a night hike here with a couple of friends. Not a bad hike at all and super cool to see the view of Chattanooga at night. Bring a headlamp because the deer be trippin.

Pleasant trail. Many viewpoints along the canyon ridges. Expect heavy traffic on weekends...

My uncle and I circumvented the trail surrounding Fort Mountain State Park in a little over 5 hours. The trail is well-maintained and several of the views are spectacular, I hear. We were among the clouds during our hike and although the vistas were not available to us the scenery and foliage was and it is tremendous.

Love this trail. Have done it during all seasons. This weekend we still had beautiful colors to the trees. The new bridge before the trail splits (Snow Falls, Laurel Falls) looks great. Not very fond of walking on logs and was happy to see it! Highly recommend it. Keep in mind that getting to Snow Falls, or Bryant overlook (crossing above Laurel Falls) involves a creek crossing and may not be doable depending on current/depth of water.

Beautiful scenery. Absolutely beautiful during fall whenever the leaves are changing.

Beautiful hike - lots of roots and rocks! This time I combined with Sitton Gulch for 10+ mile hike

Beautiful trail!!

This is a great little hike, although you could make it longer and keep going down other connecting trails. Parking is very easy at the Craven House, I think the previous review didn’t realize this. The view from the top is fantastic, a must do if you’re in Chatanooga.

This was a wonderful fall trail with interesting changes in topography. The trail could be marked a little better, but if you use the trail map from this app on your phone to double check your location you’ll be fine. I started on the opposite side of the parking lot and didn’t have a problem. The forest was very quiet, somewhat eerily so, and hardly anyone was there in the middle of the week.

Great trail, really nice falls.

Amazing place to spend the day. Cold water and beautiful waterfall. Not very much during the summer though. We took a dog too and had no issues. Lovely place. Kinda hard hike down into the canyon though.

Very good trail. 2.6 miles and worth the effort! Watch out for a lot of roots along g the path though. I'd give it a moderate rating.

I love this trail. It has a streams, waterfalls and gorgeous mountain views. My favorite hike in Georgia.

Gorgeous!! The hike would be classed MODERATE as rated. Mainly because of the roots and rocks one has to navigate on virtually the whole trail. The views are incredible and we caught the Fall foliage just at the right time!! November 3rd was a perfect day for our hike. I recommend this to all my hiking friends.

Beautiful and a good hike with some challenging parts! Crowded at the beginning/end. Do the waterfalls trail while you’re there!

Great overlooks. Beautiful fall colors Nov 4th. We got there about 1030 and not awful crowded but on the way out near the beginning of the trail lots of hikers just arriving. Glad we came on the earlier side! Took us a little over 2 hours. This trail has some ups/downs but a good deal of fairly level walking too. Definitely lots of roots and rocks.

Wow! Beauty all around but it was definitely a Moderate hike. So many rocks and roots to navigate along the way but worth it. Just have to take your time. The water, rock formations and multiple lookouts were spectacular. Leaves were peak so lots of people. Go early and you might get some peaceful moments!

Good trail for hikers and dogs. Once you get out of parking lot area not many people. A few “water crossings” not really water crossings but water on ground is great for dogs. Added miles making it an 11 mile loop in four hours. There was good up and down making it a great workout. Lots of fallen leaves at moment which did make it hard to see slippery rocks so watch footing.

Tough!

Tough to beat!

Great trail! Even in the snow!

No parking and really crowded

With the leaves changing and cool fall air, this was an amazing hike just 10 minutes away!

This was great trail with a couple of variations for length. Like others said, it seems to be minimally tended to so there are areas with trees down and a few spots you have to climb or traverse. Our 70 lb boxer was able to handle it well. The stairs at the beginning might be the hardest parts with really uneven step gaps.

The waterfall is worth the short (but steep) off trail venture. Absolutely stunning.

Views are outstanding right at the beginning.
