Hike/walk. The incline is absolutely killer but it’s a great workout and the views are gorgeous, on the way up and very rewarding at the top. Recommended!!

I'm not sure we got to experience the whole thing, due to some 'police line - do not cross' tape near the bridge. Nice walk otherwise.

The East loop is nice, and the rock quarry is a good place to rest and take a lunch.
West loop is tough, but could use a little upkeep due to some overgrowth.
Both trials are good for training for more advanced hikes.

Tough hike for me but well worth the views at the top. Will do this one again.

Beautiful and remote. Great to bring the dogs and kids. Easy hike and great creek access!

Peaceful and enjoyable hike.

This was such a fun trail with multiple beautiful overlooks at the top. Most people turn left onto the AT when they make it to the intersection and are met with a steep incline and tons of rocks, but if you curve to the right and continue onto Byron Reese, you will have a slow and much more doable incline. We did this and thought the trail was fairly easy because of it. Wear good shoes and socks! The trail is so rocky.

This was a great family hike today. Easy to find, nice maintained trail. Beautiful view along the way. Beautiful area at lower water fall if you want to hang out for a while. It was getting busier as we were walking out around 11 am. Definitely will do again.

The part that we got to walk was beautiful. Construction stopped us very close to the beginning. It's very unclear where you are as the one map down the trail doesn't inform you exactly where you are. It would've been so lovely. 8/9/18.

Good hike

Great beginners hike or a hike with your dog. Loved it. Had quite a few beautiful lake front spots to let your dogs loose and have a blast.

Hike killed me but great view

Steady climb all the way up. Some great views at the top. Fun trail.

Great hike in and out! Beautiful
quarry!!

Nice trail circling both lakes with options to bear off onto other off lake trails. Pavilions for picnicking and the views of the lake are just amazing. Clear teal water.

Tough hike but well worth it for the panoramic views! Will go again for sure.

The Blood Mountain portion was moderate and challenging. Great to see the lodge and the mountains all around. We came down Freeman’s loop - that part was brutal. So many rocks and roots to navigate, but we made it and will do it again. Be sure to bring more water than you think you’ll drink!

Nice trail. Very beautiful, plenty of water splashes, counterclockwise makes for a reasonably easy hike with enough difficulty to be interesting. Mileage will be more than the 3.7 indicated, we logged 5.1 miles from the trailhead, including the approach and a little less than .5 total for the overlook offshoot. We are a bunch of out-of-shape 30 somethings and we managed the whole loop in about 2:45 including a couple of rest stops and photo ops. A few portions of this trail are on very old, disused road beds (probably not used in 50 years or more) which made for nice breaks from the climbs. My only complaint was that the intersection with the Coosa is a little confusing, and is not portrayed well on the official park map.

Easy and mostly flat.

Was in town for training. I found this trail and loved it. It is paved and rolly. Loved it.

We love this place!!!❤️❤️❤️

We tried to take Freeman trail but some guys said we were off trail so we turned around and took the AT trail. Lots of rocks to walk over and climb. Difficult trail but doable. It’s so worth the view at the top. I’ll be doing this again.

Right near the beginning of the trail, just on the other side of the road crossing, there is a large fallen tree and a number of smaller chainsawed trees jumbled together. It looks very much like the path is intentionally blocked off, but just climb over/through it. Once you start ascending, the climb is relentless — be prepared for that. It’s not steep, but it continues for over two miles with no break. There are some flat areas off the trail before and after the main waterfall (at about the halfway point) that would make great camping spots, and really are the only spots suitable for tents. There is a fire ring on the summit, and several trees perfect for hanging a hammock — I napped for a couple hours before heading down again. It was a great way to spend the afternoon.

Definitely a bit muddy right now but the waterfalls are amazing and that view at the top is worth the last mile and a half. Be ready to climb over some fallen trees (worst one is at the very beginning). Bring a bunch of water and snacks/lunch. It’s pretty shaded for the most part and some areas look very snakey but I didn’t see any wildlife except birds and lizards. I lost cell service until close to the top so download the map!

woo! This one kicked my ass. Dad and I took the pup. I'd say the first and last mile are the most difficult. if you're going post rain where some boots with good tread. Bring about 2L water. Stay hydrated. we didn't as much as we should have and we are definitely feeling that today. It is a really pretty hike and if you go mid-Summer, expect to see lots of lush green forest and plenty of mushrooms. There's a pool at the bottom of the falls for the way back to stop and have some lunch and soak your feet. Reviving! The view at the top is beautiful and there are camping spots set in from the view and also near the falls.

Nice trail. It was a little overgrown. We did the counter clockwise hike. It is pretty tough climb after the mile mark for a novice. The view don’t come until you get to the top. Then very pretty. Will try it against n in the week Neer for more views.

Good mix of flat and steep

The map is a little out of date, just before the peak there are a number of switchbacks to the south side of the peak, thank God.
