Great hike, but you may have to swim a small section to get to the tide pools. We will def come back with swim suits so we can get across to the tide pools next time.

To quote Homer Simpson, the end “Sucks Diddley Sucks. Almost 1/3 of a mile on PORTOLA PARKWAY. Put BS!

A hard trail. I went in from the Tenaja trailhead, through Fisherman's camp, up Bluewater Pass to Oak Flats and then onto the truck trail to the peak. This route is tough, lots of brush bashing and Bluewater Pass is steep. Oak flats is gorgeous and this route is rarely traveled. I would not recommend this route to anyone but a seasoned hiker that does not mind brush bashing, hard to follow trails, and poison oak. It's a long day in and out. If you can get past those things it's a great hike, planning to do this one again in November 2018.

Only made it up the hill, had to turn around. Far too many dog feces on the trail. Disgusting.

Lots of long fire roads and single tracks. Plenty of choices and nice views also right in the middle of town.

A nice and easy trail to a beautiful beach

Moderate to easy until the climb to the peak. That is Hard but the view at the top is great.

Really beautiful and fun trail. My GPS app clocked it at 10.32, so pretty much exactly the length stated. I would call it moderate until the last climb to the top. Definitely would recommend poles for that part. The views are beautiful the entire way up. We started at 7:30 a.m. on a Sunday and only ran into a few other groups. Keep in mind that the trailhead is on the same side of the road as the candy store, across the street from the parking lot.

Be prepared to see wildlife!

Great place to run. Lots of challenging trails Trails are well marked.

It was a good hike. Definitely not hard until the last part leading up to the summit. The views at the top were really cool.

Great family hike with young kids, basically flat with fantastic views over the bluffs and of the San Vicente lighthouse. The nature center is great, and they have free binoculars for loan. No whales this time of year, but we did see some dolphins. Very fun!

Great place for a morning hike.

Disagree with many of the reviews in terms of difficulty. I found this extremely difficult. The trail goes on and on and on and on. I just summited Mount San Antonio twice (Baldy) + Baden-Powell, and this trail kicked my butt just much harder. I don't know about it being 10 miles either...felt like 20! Never been out on the trail, and wanted to call the Starship Enterprise "Beam me up Scottie". Just reading some of the reviews before I hit the trail about it being moderate is a misnomer.

I wish someone would have posted the truth...this is a difficult hike. This way mentally I would have been prepared and knew what I was in for instead of expecthing this hike to be 'moderate'...moderate my @$$.

Steady grade that seems to go on forever, and the summit is STEEP. Then there is the part before the summit where your descending...well after you descend the summit and think it's all down hill from there...nope...your hiking back up, and THEN down again.

This is not an easy hike I don't care what anyone says Be prepared for this hike because it's no joke. Bring trekking poles, and plenty of water.

View at the top was spectacular...well worth it!

Nice trails in city with lots of trees for shade. However flat well maintained trails are easy not moderate

On 30 Aug at 19:45 my wife sighted a mountain lion near the entrance before the creek at the time of exiting

Great place I do enjoy everything about the loop

It is a great trail but it’s definitely not for beginners. I’m a beginner so it was a terrible experience. I should’ve checked the difficulty first but I just trusted my husband. Get plenty of water if you’re planning to walk it. :)

Nice short walk, great for kids.

Went 0700 and had a workout for less than 1.5 hours. Short roller coster hills it is. It gives the hiker many options of trails to hike, so boredom doesn't sink in from taking a repeat hike.

This trail is awesome! I hiked it going down from Blue Jay Campground, and stayed on the northern sections which tended to be more shaded. The path is very easy to see and navigate by foot, and I could see a ton of mountain bike tracks in the more rutted areas. I made it all the way down to the hard turn in the clearings south of the Mary Thomas bridge before I turned around and headed back up since it was approaching sunset. I will say that it is much harder to go back up than come down, but not impossible. No climbing necessary. This was my first time ever on this trail, and had never heard of it before camping at Blue Jay, but now I want to go back and do the whole thing!

One thing I will critique though, is that the intersections in the trail are not very well marked. There are some white spray paint markings with arrows along the trail and at the intersection, but they're not in a very easy to understand format. So have your wits about you and make cairns or leave non-permanent markers to show you which way you came if you're doing a shuttle/in-n-out run.

Love this trail. Seems more on the moderate side. The only challenge is the last .7 of the trail, but it is fun. Also, there is a lot of uphill on the way back...way more than you realize. Good idea to take pics of the trail crossings...could get lost w/o them.
