To date my most favorite hike. The provincial park was closed so there was no fee. You park at the gate and walk a short distance to the discovery centre where the trail head begins. After walking over some nice boardwalks you can then pick your trail. The Quiddity, a short in and out 2.4 kms or the Tallow Rock East or West. I took the east and have to say I was not disappointed. The entire trail was very well marked. Lake views, forest, beaver damns, as well as beautiful little bridge that linked 2 islands. The Tallow Rock loop is 10k but as suggested I took the Bachs look out detour. The highlight of the hike. The views are def worth the extra 1.5 k. It was a great place to lunch and rest for the remaining 5 k. Next major stop was Hollow Rock bay, a picnic area, porta potty and what looks like a sandy beach. Just beautiful. The remain 4 kms are meadow and forest. No water views. I hike for exercise and this was pretty much just a flat walk out through the forest, but given the length of this trail and the constant up and down it was a nice easy walk. I cannot wait to go back

A nice fall walk. Signage along the trail highlighted points of interest as well as ongoing attempts to preserve/enhance the areas ecosystems. I think we were 60-90 minutes strolling along, appreciating the quite scenery.

A nice forest but it may be a victim of its own success as we found there were a lot of people on the trail when we visited. Also, we could hear the sound of a sports event going on at the Nepean sportsplex nearby, which took a little of the forest magic away. Part of the trail also borders people's backyards, which again takes away from the magic. Very flat trail - great for strollers and people with disabilities.

Easy hike. Well kept trails. Quiet despite location.

Liked the variety of forest, and swamp life.

Nice surface variety, well marked, lots of natural habitat

Easy trail for a family with lots of options to make it shorter if required. Watch the map closely as there are lots of intersections

This hike needs an edit. It is a great hike up until the train tracks. Once your past the train tracks the hiking area/path is closed due to excavation. I did go past the train tracks which was a mistake. It’s a good hike though up until the train tracks so I can recommend it for anyone to go up that far. Hope All Trails edits the trail.
UPDATE: Thank you All Trails for editing the trail!!!!!

We hiked the east leg first with several stops for scenic lookouts and a ~1.5km detour up to Bach's Lookout (which was WELL WORTH the effort!) This made our overall hike 14.4 km from the Discovery Center.
I agree with a previous commenter that the east is the best way to begin. A little technical at first but you're nice and fresh, with a lovely gradual descent on return.
I loved the diversity of flora and geography we were treated to! What stunning landscapes. Trail was very well marked and despite a mega storm the night before, wasn't mushy at all. A surprising lack of bugs. Perfect hike!

good trail. nice 1 hour total with the ruins included. lots to see, variety of scenery with a very easy path to follow.

Awesome trail with lots of variety. Some parts are wide and easy and some are windy. Some ruins are here too. Definitely recommend trying it! Unfortunately there was a young female who had her car broken into at the parking lot. The thief stole her wallet. I felt bad for her because she was from Fredericton, NB.

Love camping here, too bad the ticks are out of hand, I have been 8 times and all different trails but always taking ticks of my best furry friend and myself...

Beautiful trial in the woods with some awesome views of swamp/wetlands areas. There is a Wild Birdcare Centre here too. The trail is easy and great for anyone or a family to come explore!

Lovely hiking trail. A couple really scenic lookouts and lots of different types or terrain, from swampy areas to deep forests, dry rocky surfaces, etc. It is quite a difficult hike due to its length (10km) and some good climbing but all worth it. We started from one of the interior camping sites and stopped for a swim halfway.

This trail is a long one, but perfect on a sunny day. The bugs weren’t overly bad either. Lots of rocky terrain, a few bridges, and a small beach along the way. Definitely bring water and running shoes for this hike. Took 2.5 hours to complete the full 10km’s.

My favourite trail. The terrain is diverse which keeps it entertaining and the views are great!

Short and easy trail. The path was well maintained and was easy to access from the main road. I would recommend this hike for someone with kids and/or looking for a quick fix of nature.

Nice spot for trail running. 11 km loop and 300 m of positive gain from the parking.

Nice easy trail. Good for jogging. Dog friendly. The ruins are pretty neat!

Nice 7 k trial run from the car park of Lime Kiln to the Beaver Trial and back to to Lime Kiln car park. No major obstacles to run over. No washrooms.

The trail was really nice seen deer in 3 seperate spots. The ticks on the other hand were hungry I got bit twice and took 8 off the dog just crawling not latched on. Still good times

Kayaking to the cliff top trail made my trip worthwhile.

This one is quite spectacular in the fall. There are some amazing spots where you can watch the leaves fall like rain or walk through a rainbow of trees. so beautiful! It's not the most challenging of hikes - it's one of the easier Frontenac trails for this distance but still has difficult moments. It's great that if you don't have time for the full trail you can cut off 3km and do Bufflehead instead. Also lovely.

Beautiful. Buggy in spots.

Went for a hike and overnight stay. Got to Park at 9am on Saturday and left on Sunday morning. We did 8Km on Saturday and camped at site 6a. Took about 3.5hrs but that time included :30min lunch stop and we went off track to check out a lookout point. On Sunday we did the rest a 4.2Km trek that took us back to the parking lot at Big Salmon Parking. That took us 1.5Km but we didn’t stop and did great time. There are quite a bit of marshy areas to get by but there’s was always a way to get around it with no issues. Lots of uphill and downhill areas durning the hike. You could also park at the park store and start hike from there but that’s another hour to your trek. We parked at Big Salmon parking to avoid the extra distance hiking.
