Nice fall views from the southern slope. Only Jeeps can pass the gates.

Took my dog to the main lookout today. Gorgeous views and sunset. Started the trail from Chuckanut Dr at 1:44 PM and back to the car at 5:20PM. I started little too late. It got so dark the last mile before the car. But I used my phone flashlight almost to the car before totally out of battery. 8 miles roundtrip with 1900 ft elevation gain. My little pup American Bully was such a trooper

So many trails for mountain biking! I love this area, and it is truly a mountain bikers playground.

Great trail for trail running. Best views of waterfalls in the area. I would recommend this as a good place to take people from out of town for a nice and easy walk, with good views.

Great trail! So many beautiful sites. Great workout but, not too hard. Be sure to take the small off trails to the overlook and waterfall on the backside of the lake.

In this time the season we couldn’t get to far due to the ice over creeks. Come very very prepared for ice. Overall a great hike, just wish we could do it all. Come early and don’t start too late.

Walked up the Erie Mountain Drive to trail 26 and took it. Branched off at trail 216 to go to the Mount Erie lookout. Walked the road all the way back down. Round trip, it was 5.7 km. Nice short hike. I'd say the trail is maybe moderate in difficulty..? We didn't have any trouble with it. Views from the top were incredible. We hit it on a sunny day with low-lying cloud below the lookout - just gorgeous!

One of my favorite hikes in the area! Beautiful, well maintained trail with a sweet, woodsy fragrance that's impossible to describe. Linger at the lake for a swim & packed lunch.
Will be a little challenging for new hikers but on the easy side for stronger ones.

Awesome trail for hiking! Beautiful fall foliage. If you reverse the loop, it makes a doable trail run too. Love this trail!

Be prepared to climb up hill a lot! The view on top was amazing. If you’ve never been here bring a camera or phone to capture the moment. It has some distance to it as well so be realistic with your abilities before trying this hike. I loved every minute of it and would recommend this hike to anyone reading.

Nice easy hike today with my dogs. Good fresh air and the views of the bay and farmland on the other side. 4.5 miles roundtrip. Park your car in designated parking next to the farm. No discovery pass needed. Bring extra layer or windbreaker if needed.

beautiful hike with great views and lookouts. although very easy to lose the trail and get lost. don't recommend without a GPS if you are doing it for the first time.

Quick but invigorating 2-hour hike with lots of Fall color on this late October day. Be sure to take the .2 mile hop out to the view point overlooking Bellingham Bay and the San Juan islands, and the .75 mile loop around the little lake. (This makes for a total distance 5 miles, up and back to the parking lot.) Enjoy a handful of pretty spots on the lake edge for snacks and the pretty view. A classic Bellingham hike with easy-moderate difficulty.

How do you get to the trailhead, when me and my buddy tried to get there the road was gated

Beautiful day this past Sunday. We took advantage of the little times we had so we drove here to Artist Point. Parked car down in lower parking and hiked to the top and explored little bit of the amazing area. The views of Mount Sukshan and Mount Baker are amazing!! What a glorious day.

Nice loop trail for our dog on a leash!

Very busy until the fork where we took the climbers route.

Hiked on Saturday 21s of Oct. Weather was perfect and hike was very colorful with fall foliage.

Lake was very pretty, with loop around entire lake. We were graced why the presence of a bald eagle in a tree on the west side of the lake, too.

Trail is in perfect condition. If you haven’t hiked the trail, you find the trail head in the Larrabee State Park lot, on the East side of Chuckanut drive, just south of the Larrabee State Park Campground. Even on a Saturday, the trail wasn’t heavily used. A few mountain bikers, possibly 6 other groups of hikers. .

Great hike. Easy overall with a great view! Super good for dogs!

I love hitting this trail with my dogs. Gorgeous Autumn color painted the forests. Blue waters mirror the sky. It’s heaven for me

I would rate this hike 5 stars, however; I could not find the 2nd half of the trail. Ended up climbing down a rock cliff only to find that it dead ended at the beach. Had to backtrack and take another route to get back to the parking lot. Other than that, it was a great hike. Fairly easy, well maintained trails, gorgeous views and abundant wildlife.

Fantastic double waterfall a little over one mile in over easy terrain. A little past that it gets a little tougher with a few switchbacks up to another waterfall. At this point the trail continues on meandering through the woods before finally ending at the river. A nice 9 miles in and out with enough elevation gain to make it a workout. No bugs this time of year. Not too crowded; easy parking 11am on a sunny Sunday.

Awesome fall day with my pup and my babe! We almost missed the falls until my dog ran up the side trail! It's was stunning and the cave, so cool! We played around at the base for a bit then continued up to the top of the falls, and then even further till we found an rad little campsite! It was a perfect little short round trip, just what we were looking for! :)

The lake was beautiful and echoey, also the mushrooms were cool

Hiked Heliotrope today, October 7, 2018. It was absolutely beautiful, even with the little bit of rain that was falling throughout the day the streams are totally passible without getting wet if you start early enough. The glaciers were still viewable with mild fog in the distance, no view of Baker. A little muddy on the trail due to the rain, but other than that it was absolutely stunning. I highly recommend getting this one in before the weather completely changes over!

This trail is very easy in the beginning, first half of the trail is very rewarding with two waterfalls on the right side; but I don’t recommend to walk further than second waterfall. It was muddy, small path and once you arrived in the campground or the river , it is very standard!! and a lot of bugs :(
If I come back; I’ll just do first half

Would have been a great hike on a clear day. But we got a late start on a very rainy day so by time we got to final water crossing the water was far too high to do knowing we would come back when it would be higher.

love this set of trails you can just run for hours
