Stunning, wonderful hike !!!

I'm an avid hiker and this trail is definitely not easy, I would say difficult. The trail is barely wide enough to walk between the edge and all the rocks. It is overgrown and hard to see where you are stepping. Very steep decline makes for a difficult trek back up. It's fun but not easy. Not recommended for children or elderly or anyone with balance issues. Cliffs and rocks are nice.

Great trail.

Spot on for the rating of moderate, it’s a good hike !!! The scenery, views and photo ops are simply superb. One of my favorite trails in WV. ❤️

Amazing views and photo ops, lots of steps but point your camera and shoot and you have a postcard !!!!

Very poorly maintained trail. Overgrown, eroded, and poorly marked. There should be a couple nice view points of the river and bridges but the trees block and chance of a clear line of vision. Not at all even close to being worth the effort..

great view

Short and easy hike...pretty much a walk. Beautiful Views!

The number one thing coming from this is to pack water and be prepared to sweat. The walk down was pretty with one spot giving a nice view of the gorge, as you head down you’ll meet the mine which was very interesting. Continuing heading down the 821 1/2 steps (half a step was missing at the beginning so watch out) you’ll be met with the beautiful dilapidated mine site. Now you’ll be met with the toughest obstacle, going all the way up. It’s rough but worth it for the workout burn. Taking this again sometime later.

Awesome hike. Loved the feeling of using my trekking poles with the rocks on the final section of the top. Really cool view and very good trail, from some of the reviews I was off-putted, however, my girlfriend suggested we still go and I’m glad we did. We went on a Monday and only saw a few people and one person at the top who kindly left for us. We were at the top for about 30 minutes. No one came up. Highly recommend.

Beautiful Views!

Loved it!! Watch footing lots of big rocks among the leaves.

Great trail along a beautiful stream

Did as a day hike for bridge day weekend .. Great views for stream the whole way .. want to do a overnight hiking n fishing trip now

this was an easy trail. nice view of the bridge from the rock you can stand on. great hike

The view was great from this trail. Not hard at all only a few uphills at the end. For good light if taking photos, recommend earlier morning, before noon. I was there between 5pm and 7pm and could get very good light for photos. We at lunch at the Cathedral Cafe and it was really good. Even from the Visitor center over looks, photos are best before noon. "Take a Hike to see at Site". I love hiking to see a wonderful view. ENJOY

Nice trail with a very rewarding view at the end. We had alot of traffic but I imagine it's because bridge day is coming up. Gets a little rocky at one point so watch your step.

Easy trail with two waterfalls with some easy off-trail exploring.

This is one of those hikes where the views from the info center are better than from the top of the mountain. There were way too many people for my taste, and they were the kind that just sit at the top, hogging the mountain top to themselves. This is just a simple tourist attraction, nothing worth climbing unless you want to weave around the non-hikers out for a walk and wait for a chance to climb the rocks on top. This is also a gravel path, so it really can't even be called a hike. Took and hour for me to go up and down and so far it's been a least favorite adventure of mine.

Hello twins ; )

Good views from the landing up top. It took about an hour and 10 minutes round-trip.

Nice trail, I logged 11.6 roundtrip miles starting from the trailhead near I-64 and hiking all the way to the waters edge of the New River, this mileage included the spur trail to Kate's Falls. There were a few trees down but not hard to get around or over. The trail was also a little muddy and slippery but nothing extreme! Met a few other hikers on the trail and enjoyed stopping and chatting with them for a few minutes. The rating for this trail is no where near hard. The trail is fairly level with a slight grade with a few places where you climb up and over rock outcroppings, but again, nothing extreme. The rating on this trail needs to be changed to moderate but it would be a very low moderate, I will see what I can do to edit the rating. Happy trails fellow hikers!

Always awesome

Easy trail with a few stairs that take you down to one very nice view of the gorge, the New River, and the bridge. Easy access from the visitor center. Be sure to go into the visitors center, the staff is very helpful on your adventures into this beautiful area.

A very nice view of the bridge and gorge! Logged 3.4 mile roundtrip from the Kaymoor Top parking lot. Trail was muddy in a few spots and the creek crossing was easy to cross. Note: the main parking lot for this trail is temporarily closed while they do improvements!

Loved the 80 step staircase! Would love to see it in the winter with no leaves blocking the view. I logged 3.4 miles roundtrip hike that including adventuring around the Tipple and also down to the Coke Ovens. The trail was wet and muddy but not hazardous. All of the mine structures were very nice to see and learn about. To me, climbing the stairs back to the slate track level - powder house was easier than the rest of the climb on the trail to the parking lot.

Cute little walk and a great little ride around the loop! Stopped as a pit stop on our way to the lake!

GREAT views!! Very quiet once you get away from the parking lot. Way overcrowded at the parking lot at Bear Rocks. People parking in the grass alongside the road, not picking up their trash and dog crap. So much for a wilderness area. Won't be long til its permit only. Otherwise, even though VERY wet and muddy, it was great hiking! Wear some shoes with ankle support. Most of the trail is very uneven and rocky. Two stream crossings on this route. Neither very hard. First one you need to step rock to rock to avoid shin deep water. Take something to help balance if you have it.

This trail is well traveled. They have been working on this trail and Improvements are in the final completion stage. It has a great view of the New River Gorge and Bridge at the end on a big rock outcropping.

Amazing workout! Feel the burn! I’m glad it was raining cause I was pouring sweat, couldnt tell what was rain and what wasn’t! Oh watch out for the chickens when you drive in!
