Great birdwatching trail. Quite muddy at times, so gear up, bring binoculars and enjoy!

great trail. watch out for the bikers

I have ran the trail a couple times and really enjoy it, the most difficult trail you will find in southeastern Michigan. Mountain bikes travel in the opposite direction, so you have to keep your eye out for them. I try to get out there early, but still come across a dozen bikers on the weekend.

Loved hiking here! Super pretty views, different level of difficulty with different trails, unlike anything in mid Michigan!

nice walk through the woods and by the river would go again

Awesome short hike, very family friendly.

really beautiful scenery. more challenging of a hike for a beginner but very good to work on elevations and uneven terrain. mosquitoes were a little bad but not unbearable considering we didn't wear bug spray. a good hike. We messed up and missed the spot to get back on the trail and followed the road too lon g so our hike was only 3.6 miles.

I loved this place. very Beautiful. I loved the ruins of the old brick factory.

the trail was beautiful and peaceful. For a Saturday it wasn't to busy and there wasn't a lot of people on the trail.

Only walked 1.5 miles of it, but it was still beautiful!

This is a great trail. I brought my 9 year old son who’s a 21st century digital boy. Definitely didn’t do the complete 17 miles but with the shortcuts and a few other tricks we made it out and had a great time. Both crooked lake and blind lake campsites are nice. And I loved the water pumps. We still used a sawyer water filter because ya never know. Mosquitos weren’t too bad but that’s probably because haven’t had rain in a week or so. We did have to move aside for about 15 mountain bikers along the way but we could always see them coming. I highly recommend this beautiful trail.

Easy and beautiful hiking! Nice rolling hills.

Great trail for endurance in pedaling. Many roots, and a little confusing at first

There was so much stagnant water that the mosquitoes were unbearable.

the trails are a good excersize. but if you camp, there are weird howeling noises at night along the trails for hours. probably dogs? i barely slept, thinking of Bigfoot.

A nice little urban forest trail. Mixed use in some places, well marked, with porta-johns in the parking lot, pet waste bags and trash cans available, as well as a few benches. Not especially challenging, but a pleasant hike. I saw a variety of squirrels, a deer and a turtle on my bike and heard an owl nearby but didn't see it. Trails are wide and clean.

Nice well maintained trail that is good for all skill levels

Short hike and the rock formations were pretty cool. Also it’s close to the lake which is nice.

One of the best trails in lower Michigan. Lots of beautiful stone to view as well as a train bridge. The train went through when I was right under the tracks. You can walk across the train bridge. It’s a short easy hike, but there are other paths you can take and some areas for rock climbing, too, which makes for more of a challenge. The only bad thing is that part of the path takes you along an area of private residences and their sewers are right on the path. The smell is bad. But otherwise it’s a good trail.

4.6 miles, moderate, a lot of elevation for a novice hiker! Had a blast, but planned on the 3.7 mile hike... (based on alltrails info)

I ran this trail today and is was pretty easy. it was not that hard to find where the trail picks back up, and was dry but I can see where it could be muddy after a good rain.

Good mix of running trails and biking trails. Either can be run on, but if you’re looking to run at a decent pace, I would stick to the regular trails. If just out for fun, bike trails are fine though. Footing quality depends on which parts you’re in. I’ve fallen once in the ~20x I’ve run there. Usually if you pay attention you’ll be ok though. Only downside is that it’s easy to get lost in/not know where you are. That could likely be avoided by checking maps along the trails, but I don’t like stopping while I’m running. Great source of shade in the summer and fall until the leaves fall, then footing can get precarious.

Completed the full 17+ mile loop a few weeks back. Well marked and the trail was very well-maintained. The campsites partway through were nice to stop at for a water resupply. Would rate the trail as challenging due to the numerous hills, but definitely doable. Some beautiful views along the way, though the mosquitoes made it so that our stops were very limited and short-lived. Would highly recommend, just bring some bug spray with you and be sure to dip your tired feet in the lake afterwards.

I trail ran this, starting at post 15 to head clockwise around big seven lake loop. According to my apple watch it was 4.6 miles and accumulation of 449ft in elevation climbs. I did not consider this easy! Beware Alltrails should change that difficulty rating to moderate. The upside was the beautiful views of lakes and the ups and downs in the woods were a great challenge for trail runners. The downside was it sometimes gets boring when it opens into grassy fields and picnic areas. I can see how it might be tricky to follow at times, but if you study the trail post numbers on the map before you head out you'll be fine, michigan dnr state park map has a nice map online.

Lots of Mosquitos, so if you decide to hike this trail, be prepared to be swarmed. Also, trail signs could’ve updated. Other than that, very beautiful trail.
