Gorgeous with the fall colors! A perfect hike if you want to be able to talk and hike. The trail is wide enough to walk side by side most of the way.

Love Eklutna Lake. Many great hikes around here and I highly recommend staying a night or two at the Serenity Falls Hut after mile 12. Look forward to returning soon.

Was there a week ago. Absolutely worth the trek. Breathtaking hike.

Amazing views, and tons of water along the hike for pups to drink. The slow climb up to the lake makes the hike kind of easy. We would rate it “moderate” only because of the distance.

Beautiful hike. Make sure that you apply some insect repellent. I would recommend returning from the end well at least an hour before the sunset.

More of a nature walk but well worth the view at the end! Beautiful September weather!!

Walked through a green tunnel of brush for half an hour then got to the rocky stream bed. Had to cross over the glacially cold stream to go look at the snow caves, which were pretty neat! Sept 9, 2018.

Easy trail with beautiful views. We walked a bit past where the trail ends, but it was raining so we didn't go all the way to the Glacier.

Hiking to rabbit lake is easy but very rocky roads. I would suggest a good hiking shoes and wind jacket. At the end it gets pretty windy. I loved the view ! Amazing! next time I'll go I'll camp there.

First half of trail is very easy walk over gravel pathway. Second portion is slightly harder maneuvering over rocks to finally get to beautiful ice caves. Views include multiple ice caves and waterfalls. Round trip slightly less than 2 hrs depending on how long you stop for pictures. Definitely worth the trip!

it was fine, but don't go if it's cloudy. no view from the top, but luckily it cleared enough to see the lake on my way back at the first bench

great hike for most skill levels. Bring some waterproof shoes and a rain jacket!

One of my favorite hikes!

22 Aug: Trail starts at sea level and follows the creek through forested canopy for a bit before opening to sunlight. It follows the creek most of the way up before breaking off to climbing up tundra foliage. There are options as you reach the meadow. Break right to keep the scent going. Break left to cross the meadows to a mountain lake. Not much in the way of trail as you continue up to the saddle, but once up there, go left for South Suicide.

The trail was muddy in sections as we’ve just had rain for days, but nothing too bad. My boots remained dry though muddy. We saw approx 10 goats scrambling the rocks via the trail to the right. Saw them again as we came down and around the left to the lake before heading up to the saddle.

It’s a steep hike climbing up from the start, and once you reach the meadow, it’s time for a rest.

just amazing trail and not terribly difficult. so much payoff for little effort, even if you're just going to the top of the pass. if you're going to the lake, make sure you wear shoes you can get wet. if you're going to the ice, beware you'll need to cross a river that for me today was impassible

Love this hike. The trail is easy to follow and has some incredible views. We saw a few sheep off in the distance but did not spot much other wildlife on our hike. The fireweed was at the top of it’s blooms but still made for some awesome pictures.

The best trail I’ve taken in Alaska so forth. It was very cloudy and windy so the views were not that spectacular but once you reach Portage Lake, glacier view is very impressive. The first up is steep and exhausting but it is worth the effort.

Easily one of my favorite hikes to date. Arrived around 10 am on a September day, only one other car in the lot. Steep and rocky at the beginning but after that it is quite easy. Got to the top of the ridge and it was breath taking seeing the glacier for the first time. We got there and it was foggy which added a mystique aspect to the trailhead. With the fog and surrounding mountains, it seemed like the trail was from a fairytale.

Easy trail with amazing views of the mountains and glacier.. lots of super cold running water.. beautiful flowers along the way..

Good trail, really popular. Went at end of July, the flowers down by the glacier were beautiful.

Great view at the lake. Good hike with moderate incline in the beginning but then it's flat. Coming back was faster. It was pretty windy near the lake. Glad I had a coat. This was not too far away and close to home.

We completed this trail yesterday with my 5 year old.

The first .75 to 1 mile is a steady climb up. Once at the top if you want to get to the lake go left and follow the marked trail. if you go right there's a nice view after maybe 5 min.

The trail is easy to follow, if in spots mildly pushed in by plants. Bring bug spray.

The trail offers some beautiful views and isn't difficult. It is a popular trail so you most likely won't be the only one out there.

Enjoyable moderate hike. We parked before the fee area, so it’s a little further of a hike in to the actual trailhead. Lots of people on the trail yesterday afternoon/evening. There was a bull moose sighting, but no disturbance by said moose. There were two tents at Rabbit Lake, which looked like a scenic spot to camp for a night.

Pretty easy trail and great for trail running because once you get up the little incline at the beginning it flattens out. No bears, No moose, and very dog friendly trail! This is my 4th time doing this one and I would recommend going on a clear day, the lake and suicide and homicide peaks will give you a phenomenal view

Pretty easy going hike with a great view at the snow field! :)

July 29. Great hike with amazing views. Give yourself plenty of time and bring plenty of water. If you plan to make it all the way to the end, be prepared for a narrow trail on the ridge next to a steep scree slope that requires a bit of scrambling. The descent is quite rough on the knees. Overall great hike. Enjoy!

Beautiful hike lots of atvs and bikes but they all slowed down for those of us who where walking.

Beautiful! Gorgeous day. Kids had a great time. Views were exellent. Didn't make it the full 25 miles around the lake but had a great time nonetheless.
