I hike this trail frequently for a quick 1-2hour trek with my dogs. I love the variety of easy trails and turn offs.

The coastline here is absolutely spectacular! The trail is easy.

It is good for relaxation. easy to walk . many resting areas near South Head. One hour walk from North to south head, BBQ there then came back . there is short cut if you don't want to walk back for an other hour can go through the paved road.

Great walk run bike

As a local, this is one of my favorite walks. Shady in the summer, beautiful in the fall, can be muddy in the winter. Dogs, horses and even lamas have been present on these trails. Near the Empire Mine Entrance is a clean bathroom that can come in handy. I’d recommend this trail to people visiting Grass Valley for sure.

If you go to where coon meets Sonoma ridge trail take the black un named trail that shows it comes to an end, and it does but just before the end there is a no trespassing fire road that goes down and to the left, if you take that path down to the road (grove street) then go a little ways right on grove (down hill) about 100 yards past the set of mailboxes there is a 75 foot tall waterfall . You can hear the water when you are near.
Don’t get caught.
I have been going there for 35 years

Great place to go when you want to get out of the sun 90% under the oak and redwood canopy.

No trail along coast — trail map shows a continuous trail north to lighthouse from middle section (we came from cafe) but barbed wire with “no trespassing” signs. ? Beautiful location but middle section of trail lightly marked and confusing along coast.

Definitely do the trail clockwise for a challenging climb. And the best part- pick blackberries at the begining or end of your hike!

I’d say it’s a boring local trail. No views. The loop at some point takes you along the hwy, not very pleasant to walk with the dogs. There’s really nothing to this trail. I see why locals enjoy it: close by, easy. Maybe winter, fall, spring be a little better. Definitely not a summer trail.

Park itself is very nice. Definitely worth checking it out.

A nice mellow stroll down an out n back. Some really beautiful sweeping views of the valleys out here. Just be warned there are ALOT of ticks this time of year in the tall grasses especially on the last mile of this route. I would maybe skip the end for this reason. At least during this time of year. Especially if your out with your pups.

It can get confusing. Trails are awesone. Vistor center doesn't open till 10 a.m.

Nice trail. Watch out for poison oak and rattlesnakes.

Pretty boring trail, the lake is pretty though with lots of places to relax and cook out with family and friends. Very easy hike with little scenery

It’s a boring hike and then we had to pick a dozen ticks off the dog.

Easy little trail, we did see 3 rattle snakes on/near the trail so we probably won’t be back. If you keep your wits about you it’s a great beginners trail!

It is a pretty easy hike. I hiked 4 mi in then return, so 8 mi total. Slopes gently downhill for first 3.5 mi then flat. Uphill almost all the way back to gate. Lots of wildflowers. Mostly shaded once you get into the trees. Only saw 5 mountain bikers, and 2 hikers. Wide trail/dirt road.

The trail is not marked clearly. There are two trails that branch of the main one that have high grasses and narrow walking area. We stuck to the main walkway to avoid ticks..... ended up plucking 12 of the dog. Overall I wouldn’t recommend this hike.... if you do it , leave the dog at home.

Lots to see along the trails.

One of my favorite trails ever, especially on a Monday...you have the whole place to yourself! With epic ocean views, rolling green hills, wildflowers, wildlife tracking & viewing, trickling streams and waterfalls, dog friendly... it's perfect!

Nice wide trail, best to walk on weekdays. It gets a bit busy on weekends.

had a great hike it ended up being a little over 9 miles, the trails are not marked the best and there was a lot of ticks . But it was still a very good workout hike lots of incline and decline. I loved the peek a boo views through the trees, it was a great shaded hike.

Very green. Would call it more of an easy hike, than moderate. Many bathrooms along the way. Dogs came back with ticks, so check your dogs in the spring. Narrow trail, but pretty views. No benches along the way. Bathrooms/picnic at the "turn around point". We got stuck in the rain and walked a quick mile back to our car at the trail head. Good choice as opposed to walking 2.5 miles back. Glad we went early spring. Would be very touristy in summer.

great and enjoyable moderate hike: forest, fruit trees, vineyards. superb views on the valley from the ridge

Beautiful hike, however need to start earlier in the morning. Did not get a chance to finish it. Probably did half the hike and had to turn around.

I loved this hike! I would rate it on the easier side of “moderate”, but overall really enjoyed myself and the group I came with. The dogs had a blast and there were tons of places to rest and enjoy the lakefront. Had I not been with a group, this would’ve been really fun to run as it had a good mix of hills and the path, although narrow, was easily traceable. I think the right way to do this one would be to wear a bathing suit, bring some snacks and towels, and make it into a private(ish) day in the water. We arrived late morning and got a good mix of sun and shade, I’d love to come back!

Nice little hike if you're visiting the mine. Kid friendly.
