Have done this hike a couple of times over the summer - love it! Quite the workout near the very top and loose gravel makes it bit tricky coming down. The view is beautiful! Make sure to pack lots of water for you and your four legged friends!

Epic overlooks!

What a beautiful day to hike Elk. first time and I will hike Elk again and can't wait to snowshoes Elk.

Hiked this trail Oct.20th. Elk View road was closed leading to the trailhead. Not sure of when it will be re opened but we found a way to get there from the back roads. This hike was unreal!!! Amazing views highly recommend!

did this hike with a friend on a rainy Sunday afternoon and need to do again as we took a wrong turn. have to disagree that the trail is well marked as some of the marker posts have been vandalized and you can't see the arrows. we took a wrong turn and ended up on the Brohm creek trail not the lake trail, descended a huge rock hill and had to climb back up it. as I had just discovered this app I didn't think to use the map and was trying google maps. when we finally did use the app it saved us and got us back on the right path. thanks!!

Best panoramic views of the canyon on the north rim that we saw! Easy for the whole family with paved walk paths... worth the drive out there!

One of the best due to ease and convenience of location, grade, and rewarding view.

Stunning view of the valley! Love the hike up; however, your knees pay on the way down.

Fairly easy trail except there were a few times where we had to guess which way was the actual trail. Just past the campground and general store there was a sign but the way it was pointed was very unclear. The trail that seemed the most logical was not. We actually followed it for about 5 minutes until we reached way too steep, dangerous and it was obvious it was not the trail. So be careful! Otherwise, an incredible trail with so much wildlife in the North Rim. We then hiked back to the visitor center using the Bridle Trail which was like a "cool down"

What a beautiful trek ! Steep all the long way with some relaxing meters flat.
The view at the top is amazing !
I made it running and walking in 3h30.
Good memories

Amazing Views! Take your camera and water!

Be careful with the GPS! The link took me to a very dangerous steep and rocky forest service road the bisects the actual trail! Never made the hike as I was almost didnt make it up the road in my non-4x4 4 cyclinder engine :(

Great short hike located near the Lodge and Visitor Center on the North Rim. Amazing lookout at the end of the trail. Don't forget to climb atop the rocks at the end to see the Geographical Survey. Also there a few nice rock outcrops that you climb on that may be less crowded once people start showing up.

AMAZING.

This is one of my favorite shorter hikes. The views are pretty standard for most of the climb, but the panoramic views at the top are gorgeous.

Great workout as its mostly uphill. Helps to bring walking stick for the up and downhill. Amazing view at the top. But lots of flies and mosquitoes. Recommend bug spray or wear long sleeves to cover.

Hiked it on BC family day and saw 2 people on the way up and 15 people total. Keep looking left shortly after the bridge for the trail head. I'd rank it on the easier side for a hard route.

Awesome and tiring hike, a little easier as a day trip while camping at garibaldi lake. Go early as parking is insane on the weekend. Class 3 scramble to the false summit on loose rock so be careful. Class 5 to the actual summit and looks sketchy.

Just did this hike yesterday ! The view was worth it after scrambling up the rocks. Bring a helmet if your going to attempt to do some rock climbing on the tusk . Ton of loose rocks falling down . The hike was beautiful . Bring bug spray that will keep the horse flies away ! Tons of bugs , everyone doing the hike was complaining . Must go down to garabaldi lake after .

Went around 2pm last Tuesday. Couple cars parked but not busy in the trail. Brought my 11yo bro and dog. Bring extra water! Was a really warm day that day and most people stopped and turned after the lookout point. Lots of black flies! Really steep at the top with loose rocks. Enjoyed the hike though! You can go past Elk to Thurston, but it was too hot of a day and we ran out of water so we didn’t.

great views of the canyon

July 26th. Freaking awesome. Made it up the chute to the top! 360 pano. Looks unreal. Know the basics of how to climb before you attempt. Love the wild flowers once you’re in the meadows. This is probably one of the best hikes I have ever done.

Great little trail! Got there early to avoid as many people and the heat. Great steady incline and then fairly steep to the top. Didn’t make it to Thurston but definitely will next time.

Amazing views, but definitely a hard few kilometres up to get to the views. If you like rock climbing you can get to the top of the Tusk by climbing up a little rock chimney to sit above the clouds. There are no ropes so you take your own chances with that climb. Did it this weekend (end of June) and there is still snow up there so bring extra socks.

If you had one day to live on this earth and had the opportunity to do one hike, this would be it. The meadows, black tusk, the lake, the mountain views - amazing. This park is an alpine paradise. The first portion of the lake trail was closed, so we ended up doing the detour with a total 16-17 miles. Took us 8.5 hours, so doable in a day, but it’s so hard to leave! A note on black tusk: if you do the chimney, test every hold and every foot before you trust your life on it. We did the chimney after watching bits of the approach trail flake off into the deep gully. Clearly the volcanic layers are peeling away, so when we topped out of the chimney only to see another 50 yards of scree between us and the summit, we were a bit dismayed. Chimney didn’t bother me, but trying to walk up an incline on marbles in an attempt to summit a 4th class, unstable rock feature seemed silly, so we backed down.

Awesome trail, stunning views. I went up and back in 8h, including 30min on the mountain.
Make sure you bring bug repellent, a bunch of snacks and it’s windy up there so a light jacket is a plus.

The view is gorgeous, during the hike and also at Black Tusk viewpoint.

Incredible hike!! To make it easier camp at either Taylor meadows or garibaldi lake. Don’t forget the mosquito spray!!

Started at 7:30 this morning and barely saw anyone else going up, a nice surprise for a Sunday. It was a great hike to the view point over Chilliwack. From there we went to the right along the cliff route which was narrow with a lot of loose rocks and dirt. We made it to the paraglider's take off point and we were rewarded with amazing views and very few people. Going back we took a right at the pink trail marker and avoided the cliff side - SO MUCH BETTER! Streams of people were coming up and I couldn't imagine trying to pass anyone on the narrow cliff side.

Only downside to this hike was the litter. Toilet paper in so many places, cigarette butts, and poop along the trail. Pack it in, pack it out people!
