If you’re in the Manhattan area, I’d definitely say to give it a go. The Flint Hills don’t get enough credit for how pretty they are.

It’s no mountain trail, but it’s a nice little with plenty to see.

For the Midwest this trail has a lot going for it. It’s on a reserve with primitive camping spots dotted along this loop that overlooks the Clinton Reservoir, it goes through fields, woods and along the shore line. There’s some fun rocky terrain in quite a few places along with a few water crossings but nothing serious, there’s very little elevation but enough to get a workout. It’s very quiet except for the occasional gun shot (I believe there’s a range across the lake) but I only heard a few rounds and only came across one other couple hiking plus one guy camping. The trail is very well marked in blue, it seems to be well maintained (a tad narrow in places) and I imagine the poison ivy is fairly bad in warmer weather. The trail seems to retain moisture, it was a little muddy and even frozen slick in places but that’s part of the fun I guess. I imagine there’s a lot of wildlife out here too, saw lots of evidence of deer and raccoon so I’m sure there’s more.
I live an hour from here but will definitely make it a day trip next time and hang out longer in one of the camping spots, maybe bring lunch and a hammock?

Not much of a hiking trail but great camping!

beautiful

An excellent hike that is more varied than you might expect, with respectable ascents and descents, rock outcrops, and wonderful views from valley and ridge top alike (including views of Manhattan in the distance). I can’t recommend this one enough.

Nice trail, good views.

Nice hike with some great views of the prairies. You can choose to do one of three loops depending how far you want to hike. Plenty of parking.

Beautiful trail! Use caution, husband and I saw mountain lion tracks in the snow there yesterday 11/28/2018!!

My fave trail so far. Great primitive camp sites and you see water for most of the hike. Has some great views for Kansas.

Very nice trail system to hike
only complaint is that needs to be marked a little better

Great trail good for a short hike. Very rewarding views. Awesome hike to look at the leaves in the fall. Both paved and trail sections. Can continue on North Shore Trails from the base of mound to extend hike.

I’ve run trail races here. It is very technical and very rewarding. Gorgeous views once you get out of the trees.

Lovely trail, we went clockwise and stopped to camp at #12 in hammocks. There was a great fire pit and bench at this camp site and it's right by the water.

Great trail - a little tough for smaller kids. 10 year old did great 7 year old with some solid complaints and 3 year old was losing his mind! But we loved it!

I really like the trail for mountain biking but I feel it's not safe with all the homeless there. constantly got that feeling of getting mugged around the corner.

Nice trails but park rangers were not helpful knowing about where the trails took off from.
Despite bug spray with deet I was covered in bites the next day, suspect oakmites. Would not go back til hard frost.

easy everyday trail

Clean trails, some parts are a bit precarious- watch ya step. Lake views. Lots of webs. Great incline for the butt!

This was enjoyable. The trail featured beautiful scenery. We saw some wildlife but no bison on this trip.

Great trail. Something new every time. Like to try biking it. Maybe later. Definitely an accessible and enjoyable trail. Pretty well maintained.

Really enjoyed the views and the paths were easy to follow!

Great for trail run! I wasn’t smart enough to forget mosquito spray.

Very well marked and maintained trail. Will definitely hike again. A few areas had very fresh tree falls on the trail but nothing overly large or blocking to much of the trail. Was some trash at a campsite but I packed it out.

Took the family out today for a ride. Perfect for all skill levels with enough challenge to make it a lot of fun for riding bikes regardless of experience. And close to home.

My favorite of the 3 loops! Wildflowers are amazing in the spring/early summer!

Love all 3 of the Konza trails! The second and third loops are very sunny. They are especially beautiful in spring/early summer when there is an abundance of wildflowers!

Beautiful trail. Not much shade. I would advise wearing a sun hat.
