Very crowded but good bang for your buck - quick out and back that can take less than 2 hours. Great view from the top!

We hiked this trail on the way to Andrews Creek campsite and it was awesome. We caught some nice sized rainbow trout that we cooked up for dinner. You need a permit if you are staying overnight and the campsites are by reservation only.

Beautiful views the entire way up! Loved this hike!

Beautiful view when you get to the top. Definitely worth the hike.

Closed because of a forest fire

Been there on Sunday 08/11/2018. Enjoyed the hike but did not like the fact that there are no view points (no creeks, no waterfalls or no high views), it was all dry. The tail path is wide and good. I guess this trail is rated Hard because of the elevation and the distance. Took 4 hours to the top and 2.5 hours to come back. Less crowd. Not much sun light. It was all rocks at the top. The view from the top is good. Near to North Bend Downtown and easily accessible, decent parking lot. Restrooms are horrible.

great hike, slightly challenging for us older folks, but well worth the effort. Views are spectacular and wildlife did not disappoint. Not a lot of shade and it was a sunny warm day, so bring sunscreen and of course water. Enjoy the hike.

Great views of lake Mowich as well as Lake Eunice on the way up to the fire lookout.

I love this hike, but prefer to do it during the week (early) as it gets very, very busy! I never get tired of the view from the ledge.

cougar was sighted at base of grizzly drive after an evening hike. other than that trails are in great shape and the creek is running.

Always a good strenuous hike/run. Today did two loops to the summit. Lots of friendly people out there today, appreciate everyone moving off to the side for this old guy running.

view was socked in but it was beautiful on the way up. trail was well kept.

Easy trail. Plenty of parking today at 930AM. Variety of hikers. Lots of people (as is the case with the influx of people to Seattle). Outstanding view.

I did it with stock new Silverado. it was brutal for this kind of car, though it has 4x4 low and all that crap, this trail is not for stock SUV like KIA sportage or so, because it is really rocky and you dont enjoy the drive.
I would recommend a jeep or something like Expedition for this.

other than that, lake is nice and all, but not breathtaking.

The falls are beautiful.

But this used to be a place you could sit by the water at the end of the trail and have a picnic. now they have it all caged off.

This was my first hike at RMNP, and it didn’t disappoint! My husband and I started at the bear lake trailhead, took a portion of the flattop mtn trail then when flattop mtn trail branched off to the left, we continued straight on the fern lake trail. We took the trail for a few miles and turned around right before two rivers lake. The incline was a good, challenging pace, not scrambling but not flat. We are beginner to intermediate hikers so this was perfect for us. The higher you get the rockier it gets on the trail. Some nice streams along the way and while it started off sunny and warm, it cooled at bit on the way up while in the pine forest. There was a portion of the trail that is next to a mountain that is nothing but rocks, so we slowed down a bit on this. This portion was also very sunny, but did not last long. Did not see any wildlife. I would do this again and next time probably go farther! Beautiful views along the way and not too crowded. I noticed the farther we went on the trail, the less foot traffic we came across. We arrived at the trailhead around 8:20am and it was full. Was able to snag a spot though. Might consider arriving a little earlier next time. First time at RMNP and I’m hooked. I never want to leave!

Great workout. Not much for views until you get to top. Scramble the haystack for a fantastic valley and Mountain View.

Not scenic until you reach the top. Good hike and the view at the top is worth it, but there are much better hiking destinations in Washington.

Tough trail for someone who is not used to hiking but worth the view at the end!

Wow! This trail was amazing. It was more difficult than expected.... straight incline pretty much the whole way up and because it’s mostly above the tree line it got pretty hot with no shade. But it was worth it! The views were amazing and I’d do it again in a heartbeat. We saw a marmot, but that was really the only wildlife. It’s a mile and a half past the Hurricane Ridge visitor center and we made the mistake of parking there and walking down to the trail head. The guy at the visitor center said there wouldn’t be any parking and acted like it was no biggee to just walk to the trailhead, but it’s a steep decline there and felt even steeper coming back on a curvy road and no shoulder or sidewalks, so it was a little nerve wracking. So... advice... try the trailhead parking lots first and if there isn’t any parking, park at the visitor center as a last resort. Otherwise, it was really beautiful!

This was lovely. The views were amazing. Fun to do with the kids. Would do it again!!

Awesome trail. Beautiful views. It was a bit intense for our 4 and 2 year old (carried them a fair amount) but our 6 year old was a total champ.

Pretty darn good hike. We parked at fern lake trailhead and hiked to the bear lake trailhead and took the shuttle back. Note that the shuttle does not go all the way back to the fern lake trailhead. You will still have 0.7 miles to get to the actual trailhead. Overall it’s almost 10 miles and about 2700 ft gain in elevation. It would be a lot easier to go bear lake to fern lake. Bear lake is higher so the climb is much less daunting. Parking is more difficult at bear lake. Either way the scenery is gorgeous and the streams and lakes are beautiful as is fern falls.

Such a great hike with incredible views at the top!

hiked this trail yesterday evening. the trail was well maintained, there was so much wildlife we saw deer, marmots, mountain goats, and multiple grouse with chicks. the trail was worth the leg burn.

HEAVY TRAFFIC!!! A lot of people on this hike and a lot of novice hikers so be cautious, but pretty easy accent couple steep switch backs but all in all took an hour up and an hour down at slow easy pace! Would recommend for dates or just a quick day hike.

Went on Saturday 8/4 and it was busy! If you do a weekend get an early start or you’ll be parking way down the hill. Went from Mowich to Eunice to the lookout.

Holy shit, bring big spray. Bust out that DEET! We brought some hippie natural organic stuff and it did not work whatsoever. These mosquitos were of a different breed! Great trail, took my 60 year old Mom and she took her time and had a great day. Picnic at the top and hope Mt. Rainier is visible! Great hike, but bring that bug spray!

Very beautiful view at the top!❤️

Easy hike with way too many people. The trail was swarming with people at 7:20am on a Wednesday morning.

Loved this hike. Our gps said 6.9 miles. Pretty easy but enough to keep it interesting and keep you puffing a little if you move at a good pace. Loved the shaded forest, pretty bridges and views. Then the top is gorgeous! We swam in the lake after lunch and had a blast. Loved it! Highly recommend for beginners.
