Did this Dec 9. The vehicle access road to the trailhead parking lot closes for the winter on Dec. 1 so the hike up the road to the trailhead adds 4.5 miles round trip, making this a 12 mile hike. The log crossing was easy as there is a log handrail next to one of the main crossing logs, so even though it’s icy, you can easily hang on and feel safe as long as the water level is low. Could have used yak tracks in a few icy spots but no need for snowshoes right now. Pretty views of Hood and the falls are beautifully iced over in parts. Almost no one out today due to the weather.

This was a nice hike through the woods, and the falls were great!

Nice and easy hike ending in a beautiful waterfall. Definitely recommend

It was a great trail. Not too hard and a great length. How ever, I believe the 6.9 mi. that this app says is wrong. My garmin watch said it was close to 9 miles. Went late November and hiked through some snow! Slippery but just be cautious. And crossing the river is fairly easy. Enjoy!

Awesome, relaxed hike. Crossing the river wasn't too bad - it definitely looks scarier than it is. We went the first weekend of November and there was no issue, but I'm not sure how high the water is now that it's rained recently.

Fun relatively easy hike! Be prepared to walk on a log to cross the river! Super pretty and pretty empty trail!

Brace yourselves, because an ass kicking incline is coming (Nick Eaton Trail)!! Personally chose to take the Nick Eaton trail up to be easier on the knees going down Gorton Creek Trail plus what the hay. Definitely can see the scars from the fires but still quite magnificent waltzing in the woods. Gets quite cool in the shade plus the wind coming through the gorge so bring some layers, aqua, and some munchies! There was even some icy patches along the ridge to the point. So be weary and happy trails!

11/18/18. Relatively easy hike, mostly flat, well-defined trail. Beautiful views of Mt. Hood when the forest opens up a bit. Ramona falls was an awesome way to cap off the hike.

Nice hike. Parked at the PCT trailhead. It was not crowded. The fall foliage and the falls were pretty. October 2018.

This was a beautiful and easy hike. Mostly flat hike with some moderate up hill areas. The river is easy to get across on the logs, but could be hard with pets or small children. There are a few beautiful views of Mount Hood, especially near the river you have to cross. Ramona Falls was even bigger than I expected, it’s definitely worth the hike! The area around Ramona Falls is roped off for vegetation regrowth, so please obey the signs and don’t pass over the rope.

Hiked in late October. The mixed foliage was so cool. Yellows and greens everywhere. Pretty easy; you can hear traffic from 14 for the first .5-1 mile, it it does eventually dissipate into silence. Not crowded; only saw a handful of hikers. The waterfall was actually more impressive than we expected on an easy hike. Doesn’t feel super remote, but it does feel gorgeous and serene. Cool rock features at the falls. Would certainly do again, especially with novice hikers.

Pretty tough hike and a steady climb all the way! Fun to see the 1930's huts, very worth the climb. Lots of good off shoots to hike while up there too!

did the trail yesterday, just beautiful. Fine signage, great open trail, just a great little hike, and dont miss the waterfall

I'm sure this would have been a lovely hike, however, make sure you don't bring dogs or young kids. I went on 11/3/18 and the river water was rushing badly enough that we couldn't figure out a safe way to cross with dogs. We went up and down the river as far as we could find but there wasn't any where with a log large enough for a big dog to cross comfortably. Perhaps if we had harnesses on the dogs and could have them walk across with some help with the leash? We ended up turning around after my friend's border collie tried leaping off the log a foot in. I did see two sets of families with two big dogs each and I wish I had asked them how they got across. Overall, I'm willing to take risks but I'd skip this until Summer if you've got a dog large enough that you can't carry them.

Absolutely worth the hike, arrived just after 8 am on a Sunday and had the trail to ourselves. Definitely not kid or big dog friendly unless they can cross the log in the river. Round trip took about 3 hours and that’s with stopping up by the falls to refuel & enjoy the view.

Day couldn’t have been much better (unless it was sunny, twenty degrees warmer, and no other people...). I’d be inclined to reconsider this as moderate, or at least at the lower end. It’s thoroughly enjoyable, and the loop to follow the stream downward, to me, is absolutely worth it.

Last time I did this was a year and a half ago during a heat streak. Both times of year offer something different and wonderful.

This was a great beautiful and easy hike! We had planned on making the loop bigger and checking out the views of Bald Mt. too, but my my partner was getting sick and not up for 13 miles! I’d do this hike again in a heartbeat!!

the waterfall is a great spot to stop for a snack, the river crossing was easy once we figured out where it was. gorgeous views of mt hood!

optional scramble gives you a beautiful view. good work out. obviously lots of scars from the burn but still very worth it. booty burner.

Gorgeous day, beautiful hike. The Johnston Observatory closes for the season in less than a week, so it wasn’t crowded at all. We only saw 10 other people on the trail today.

Trails are well marked and easy to walk, but nothing special to see. The lake was disappointing.

Beautiful hike! Could be a bit challenging for those not wanting to walk on a log to cross a small stream but aside from that the hike was flawless. A must when visiting Mt. Hood.

more steps than trail, but what views definitely do again

quick and easy hike, keep right at the fork to go up to the waterfall. some rocky spots but nothing challenging.

My brother & I hiked this trail and it was yet another GREAT and WORTHY hike for sure.
There are some pretty AWESOME views on the way to the ASTOUNDING looking waterfall and is also a very good hike because the journey back has different views and is a different cool trail because it's a loop hike.

P.S. There are some GNARLY potholes on the way to the parking spot but as long as your aware of how and where your driving even a compact car like mine is able to make it without damaging your vehicle.

Very picturesque and mild hike. The elevation climb was gradual that it felt very easy. It was an overcast day so we kept a good pace. The river crossing was easy since the water was low. The falls were smaller than I imagined but still quite beautiful.

THIS HIKE WAS EPIC!! We got off trail a bit and went up and up and up and then got back on the trail and wound our way down and not only was it a terrific workout it was breathtakingly beautiful!!
